Great review. Love the colour. I also have gone cosmo with xt2 which seems the best satnav set up for the tiger. Do you find it at all vibey mines quite new but does give vibes at 70mph. I just have to do 80 for now! I’m hoping it goes with age. I have the 1200 R/S without cross plane and it’s certainly smoother. Thx for sharing.
Thank you for the review. Good to know that the quick shifter can give problems and when it happens that Cruise Control no longer will work. That would really tick me off if I was doing a long trip and had it go out. I would expect a bike with this pricetag to be more robust.
I think it falls into the realm of personal comfort. I’d take my 1200 Rally pro in the dirt but nothing too crazy. The more comfortable that I get with the bike the more adventurous I’ll become. I surely didn’t buy mine just for highway cruising.
The bike can certainly handle dirt and off roading. Coming from dirt bikes… I find it too heavy for me to comfortably have fun on trails. Gravel and dirt roads are no problem.
Great information. Haven’t had an issue with my QS. But honestly I like shifting gears manually, so I only use it rarely. One of the main reasons I bought a new bike is for cruise control. Once I hit the button I feel my entire upper body relax. So it’s a must. Especially for the le length of trip that you have planned. Q: where did you get your crash bar sliders? Thanks!
I love the tire, but not that howl. They really do work great in the wet, dry, and do well enough on dirt roads. Solid tire... just avoid 67-73 mph. :-)
@@teammotu I have the Dunlop Trailmax Missions on mine now, and definitely prefer them for this bike. But, tire preference is definitely subjective, which is why there are SO many tires on the market :)
@@teammotu Oh, and for the record, I live in Texas. And that means that the typical speed limit for a lot of roads that I ride is smack-dab in the middle of the Karoo Street "unbearable howling zone".
@@ohTHATaaronbrown agreed. I rode these Karoo tires the full length of Texas in May, and agree. From Lufkin thru Austin thru San Angelo and up into New Mexico… howling all the way
Taking something like this purposely off-road is a weird choice. It’s just too heavy and too pretty. T7/KLR, sure. It sucks you can’t get this color in a GT or with a 19’’ spoked front for those times the pavement ends out of nowhere.
Its a big big for sure. Gravel and dirt roads...no problem at all. Challenging single tracks or "driveable trails" not me on this bike. I use my KLR for the tricky stuff

The vibration is slight... it has never bothered me. Even on long trips its no bother. I'm really loving this bike.

Just completed a 6750 mile cross country trip... this bike did awesome. Performed flawlessly on gravel, dirt, and pavement. No mechanical issues.
I do a lot of dirt riding on my Rally Explorer, works great.

Slider are from eBay. Nothing fancy, but they work
Hi my friend, just one question: Did you wire your zumo XT2 in the battery?
Yes
i hate the karoo street tires on this bike. they absolutely *howl* between 65-75mph.

Why didn't you buy the GT PRO, if you don't intend to take the Rally off road?
Because I will do dirt roads and gravel.. just not the hard stuff
