Hey @DigitalPuppets, is the "mirror expression data" an option you have to toggle in some settings? It is not in the Facial Profile Editor by Default in my version of CC4.
I use Vseeface for live facial capture with a vrm model. Do I need both CC and iClone to make my own model and can I convert to vrm format? I'm not sure what the difference is between both reallusion products. I already own CT4. Thanks in advance!
you just need CC4 that is the character builder, Iclone 8 is used for animations, then will be able to export out of CC4 as an FBX to use to setup the VRM model, this is not something i have done, but know it is possible
That looks good, I only do stylized in cc3 and always had trouble with eye morphs and round trip to Zbrush. Not upgraded yet to CC4, so is it worth it?
Have you ever had to put motion on a sketchfab model? It's a fbx model and I have a model but Iclone won't allow me to put any motions on it. Can you help?
you should be able to do this now with the new update in CC4 , it allows you to bring in custom models and convert any bone rigs to work with their aniamtion system :)
Hey mate! awesome tutorial, have you tried the GoZ button at the bottom left corner of the facial expressions panel? pls explain that workflow if you may! I have been able to push the character to zbrush using that button, modify it on Zbrush, but when I try to goZ it back into CC4 I always get the same error... any tips on that? thanks and keep it up!
I've used the goz method and it works well for me, while in Facial profile editor i send the model to zbrush make the changes then send back to CC4 i think you need to press the 'all' button next to the goz button, if you just press goz that might cause the error. Then when back in CC4 i press the quick update button on the slider and new expression added :) i will be making a tutorial for this soon, as i also have found a way to do symmetrical expressions quicker using layers and the morph brush in zbrush
Hey man great video! I’m not sure if you are aware but at least in CC3, they added a ‘correct eye blink’ button in the modify panel.. I assume its the same in cc4. It should save you a lot of time overall, it seems to be very accurate. :) I don’t have CC4 yet but it looks amazing.
Yeah its a cool feature but doesn't always work with more extreme characters and also the eyelashes don't work so well, also it doesnt update the blinks for facial profile morphs, so when using face capture the blinks are still messed up, CC4 still has this feature but also the option to fix like in the vid :)
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have a serious issue that can`t let me move forward in learning CC4 facial expression editor. When I export fbx with morphs and expressions to maya and editing that blendshapes, after applying that fbx to facial expression editor - slider distorts model to zero size. I tried to change up axis to Z in maya - nothing works. Do you know what it could be?
ive not tried the setup with Maya yet only Zbrush, but Reallusion have just released a couple of new videos, im not sure if anything on there would help ruclips.net/video/A-4lGCu76Sw/видео.html
Big question - you dropped the facial profile onto grogu but, did you make grogu in a different software or did you use the cc3/4 base mesh? I'm wondering because if I have a custom (humanoid) character, it would be great if I could do some quick facial rigging. Of course topology would be proper but on the fence about upgrading to cc4
Grogu was build with the CC3 mesh so you are able to just drop the profile onto it, but if you have a custom model you can still use the extended and standard profile, if you try and drag them on it will say incompatible but when you go to the face profile editor you will see it is setup for standard if you press the standard button it will change to extended. you then have to make or assign the morphs to each one
I have a stylised dog that i created as a characterised humanoid, but i cant get facial morphs to work, as per your video, i followed applying the morphs it says its not compatible with selected character. I do notice though, in my CC4 install, that the facial morphs are still CC3 traditional and look to have different icon picture than your example.
You have to upgrade your character first. How to do this is explained in the CC4 tutorial: Character Creator 4 Tutorial - Getting Started with CC4 Facial Profiles & Upgrading CC3 Characters courses.reallusion.com/home/character-creator/motion-pose-and-facial-expression?v=character-creator-4-tutorial-getting-started-with-cc4-facial-profiles-and-upgrading-cc3-characters
@@IronTroll Didnt work, sliders are greyed out. Looks like I have to go in and edit every morph pretty much as has been shown in this vidoe from scratch and save and update each and every morph. Oh well, never mind, dont want to mog this video with my problems.
That’s interesting. I only do stylized characters and the bigger eyes has always been an issue with 3D exchange round trip etc. this looks very good. I’ve not upgraded yet, just wondered your first impressions of CC4 overall in terms of whether it’s worth the upgrade price?
I do a lot of custom character design in CC3 and just this feature alone will save me a bunch of time and allow to make better expressions for characters, so for me its definitely worth it.
@@7_of_1 the new feature to add custom models made in other programs is awesome too, it allows us to make more stylised designs that don't have to just be humanoid
amazing tutorial!
Very elegant approach, thank you for sharing it!
Thanks for the tutorial much appreciated 👍
Also when I have trouble like that you can change the facial profile to the new cartoon character profile which also helps. Good tutorial!
Sometimes with Eyelid blink correction, you don't even need edit the mesh other than setting the slider to 200 or 300 and update.
awesome! thanks so much! :D
Great video. Thanks

Great tutorial! How did you enable the Mirror Expression data icon? On CC4, I do not see the mirror icon in the Facial Expression Profile panel.

Under the edit expressions panel above the favourites heart, what is the green square box used for? Thanks
I actually don't know and was thinking that also, i will find out!
I didn't get a setup tab to aces the facial profile edtior

Thanks!

In think you need to create the blend shapes in blender.

Don't edit mesh for blinks. Use >Character>Correct Eye Blink
Yeah this works great, but sometimes can mess up the eyelashes on more exaggerated characters, but def always try that first
