      Reen I’m going to jump in. DC/SC is referring to the prototype of the 5000 series; the current model is the 5200. It’s my favorite Vitamix and yes, it does everything the newer machines do.

    At first, I thought you were just going to read the description from the manufacturer. However, I really appreciated the demonstrations following the background! It's easy to say all the things it can do, but demonstrating them made them seem very doable.

    I have the VitaMix 5200 which I have had for sometime now. I've used it almost exclusively for smoothies and other frozen drinks. Now is the time to branch out and make full use of this beautiful machine. Thank you for this wonderful video, it really makes the written instructions come to life. Can't thank you enough for making this video, I am now off and running towards full utilization of my VitaMix.

    • @HotVoodooWitch
      @HotVoodooWitch 3 года назад

      I've owned Vitamixes since 1988. NOTHING trumps the 5200. For one thing, you only need the one container, even if you're processing small amounts. For another thing, the lowest variable speeds on the 5200 are slower than those on the G-series machines but at the highest speeds, processing is identical, i.e. you can fine-tune your results better with the 5200. And the presets really only work well with Vitamix's recipes. Like really thick smoothies? That smoothie cycle won't completely blend it--you'll have to keep running the blender until it does. If you have to do that, what's the point of the presets?

    I just bought one of these today from a chef who has 2 of them, he already had a Vitamix Pro 750, then he got one for X-mas & didn't have room in his tiny apartment for both, so I bought his extra one for $325 (retail is over $500). It's a nasty day outside so I'm going to go through recipes today, make a list & buy my produce tomorrow. I've been surfing the net for recipes & watching RUclips videos & can't wait to try out my Vitamix!

    Informative video ... I love my Vitamixs ... YES plural ... I somewhat made the mistake a year ago and purchased the S55 ... Though it is a great machine ... Well, I do not have the one Michael has. That one is super fancy. The one I have has the Base, container, top and tamper and there is variable speed control. I've made nut butters to sorbet and nut milks. It does not stop automatically . I love it tho and use it almost everyday for the past 7 years. It is a strong machine. They make one now that is programmable and completely electronic and a stainless steel container. I could go on but know that you will love this machine.

    I finally upgraded my 30 year old Vitamix for the 3500 series. What's not covered is that if I make an amount that's too small it won't work. Volume vs what size container needs to be addressed. I.e. what if i don't want to use 4 cups of peanuts? I have the smoothy cups and the very small cups. I learned thru trial and error.

    • @GlennaVan
      @GlennaVan Год назад

      The larger bowl came with mine which was too big for me so I bought the 1-quart bowl - perfect. Also, you can get the set of a small bowl and take-along cup. I just got that set but have not used it yet. It will be perfect for baby food as well as salad dressings. (I also have the grain bowl but right now, it is difficult to get the wheat berries to make flour. However, when supply chains are back in order, I highly recommend it. There is no way of comparing store-bought flour to what you just milled! Keep the berries frozen until ready to mill for additional freshness and flavor.)
      I love my VitaMix!!!

      Hi there!, -It's basically written in the recipe book that came with your Vitamix. All preset have a written recipe for them and more in the book. (Myself 99.9% of the time I rarely use the presets anyway unless I have to prep multiple items together and this makes it that much more helpful, to some degree)

    So in order to make salsa I have to pre-cut most of my ingredients. At that point I can use my slap chop and one and done the onion + a tomato only takes a bit longer to dice verses quarter or half...how exactly is having to disassemble and clean the entire machine less work than making salsa without using a Vitamix?

    • @cuisined
      @cuisined  4 года назад

      Hi, this video demonstrates what this machine is capable of in terms of chopping and liquefying. You can do either by machine or by hand. Mostly in a busy kitchens those machines are used and water washed frequently and\so making salsa in this machine will make it much faster than taking a break to make this mixture by hand. But you're right.. for just one salad you can skip using this machine. I make my salsa with Box grater... ;)

      I realize you've had your machine for four years but in that time frame if you haven't discovered there are some things you can do after you've made peanut butter that make clean-up a breeze. After getting all the peanut butter out of the container that you can the leftover still in the container helps make smoothies, sauces, and ice cream yummy. Then cleanup is a breeze😊

    • @cuisined
      @cuisined  5 лет назад +2

      Hi!
      With carrots you could almost liquify them if they are completely raw, and with broccoli I think the same. I've made orange-carrot juice many times and it was delicious and juice like. it blends perfectly, make your carrot a little colder using your freezer and it will blend great. I make mine with 50% fruit 50% water, adding ice cubes and little pinch of sugar to adjust. taste amazing , try it! :)

    Great video Michael however it would've been perfect had you not cheated on the last segment, the washing program , if you add a HALF pitcher full of water and didn't edit out of the video that the program runs for close to 30 seconds and NOT the 3 seconds you're showing, your soapy water is spewing all over the place because that's TOO MUCH LIQUID for that amount time with even barely a squirt of dish detergent.. The REALITY is you only need enough water to cover the blades. The soapy suds will expand to fill the whole container.

    • @HotVoodooWitch
      @HotVoodooWitch 3 года назад +1

      You make a good point. In fact, you can fill it a third of the way up and get a really clean pitcher. Cleaning works better with less water.

    I bought this machine in August 2021. First time I made chocolate mousse with tofu and cocoa powder etc. and then used the cleaning program. Day 2 I made oat milk with 1C rolled oats, 4C water, and 2 quartered unpitted dates. Ran it for 1 minute mostly at 10 and it came out great. No mash. I was shocked. Then I added cocoa powder, vanilla, maple syrup, stirred it a lot but that got tedious fast and wanted to run it in VM to get it super smooth (in advance of adding chia seeds for chia pudding). Machine won't run. All I see online is that the machine is overheated. After 1 minute? An hour later still nothing. Had to use my immersion blender to get it smooth and add the chia seeds. Rinsed the container and tried to wash it but VM won't run. Any hunches? I'm so disappointed.

      Did you call Vitamix? They have terrific phone support; calling them should have been your first step instead of searching online (even on their site). And is it possible you didn't turn it on? I neglected to do that on a newer machine because I wasn't used to a dedicated on/off switch (which the 5200 doesn't have) and immediately thought I'd bought a lemon.
      What you described shouldn't have tripped the Automatic Overload Protection. What was the upshot?

    • @marge201
      @marge201 Год назад +2

      @@HotVoodooWitch The upshot was most probably operator error. I think I forgot to turn the machine on in both places, meaning the side and also the front. Maybe I thought that turning the dial to 1 would start it. Now I know to first turn the power on with the side switch and then turn the wheel to 1, press the start button on the front and then increase the speed with the wheel . The machine is FABULOUS and I love it. Thanks for jumping in!

      @@marge201 ah, having done the same thing, I figured that might have been the solution! Vitamix ships the occasional defective unit but it's by no means the norm. I'm glad you're enjoying your Vitamix--see my other comments about a smaller container (in case you don't have one).

    Who came up with the design for the icons on the presets? I have no idea what they mean. I mean, for the price of this thing, would've been too difficult to put the actual word on the presents instead of those cryptic icons?

      It's so that the onion won't stuck in container with the blades spinning through the onion.. Cutting to smaller pieces makes sure the onion will not get stuck, it's not about Machine Power, Not at all.

    I have a Vitamix Pro 750 it really is incredible. Big moan on Vitamix though, they purchased the Blend App off the Perfect Company In January and they requested that wired scales be disabled in the Blend App. My wired scales work great with the bake, drink apps but not with the blend. Bad move Vitamix!
