- The iPhone is experiencing serious problems from the latest update, iOS 17.4.1, causing battery issues, overheating, the phone gets hot while charging, dropping calls and signal loss, app issues like creating a black screen, and screen unresponsiveness. This may be the worst iOS update ever. It's for sure impacting the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15, and more. Unknown how widespread the issue is.

I had gone to a nearby store which has used phones, I wondered how the 13 Pro that I had stumbled upon fared when using today. Tried only browsing web on Wi-Fi only...it ended pretty toasty as it heats up even with no Data enabled

yeah I upgraded from 12 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max and the only difference is that I have 120 Hz instead of 60 Hz
Funny thing is I usually update when I see an update notification. However I’ve been leaving this update 17.4.1 alone for a month now and glad I haven’t updated yet.
13 pro max had some charging issues but settled now. Overall it feels like iOS has been getting very buggy the last few years

iPhone 12 Pro was absolutely brilliant till this update, my battery life completely died on this like it went from 84% capacity to 76% . Now I’m running out of battery half way through the day where I never had it run out at all before
Does he phone shut off at like 50% then turn on for a few minutes then shuts off and turn on at 10% or low
@@shealynnthorpe255 no it’s still goes down one percent at a time like usual but it goes down a whole lot faster than it used to and I’m talking about like it went from probably 7 to 8 hours of screen on time to maybe four

I knew it was something! After I downloaded this 2-3 weeks ago I noticed my battery dropped 2% and I have only had this since mid November. Battery is still great overall but it’s I did notice some heating that was not present since I got the phone back in November.

My Apple Watch is a problem too battery wise. Is your battery stats showing 11 hours screen on time? Mine is and no I’m not using it that much.
My nephew phone had the connectivity issue on his iPhone 14 pro max .. not connecting to Wi-Fi at all nor the cellular network.. he factory reset the whole phone but still had the same issue
which model do you have ? cos i'm on 15 PM and didn't noticed anything , Only A bit hot when fast charging at the end of the day for 30 min... but no other issues so far . Have you called Apple ? maybe an App is bad and running in the background ...
So far no issues here but I do have the international sim slot version wonder if this is a eSIM version issue
No issues with mine. Looks like it’s working ok. I’ll check it tonight when i put it on the charger.
I have an iPhone 14 that is only a few months old and I have the beta developer updates. I’ll tell you right now 17.5 is no better. iMessage refuses to work, LTE service only, dropped calls, unsent and not receiving messages until hours later, terribly overheating to the point I had to remove my case and that still isn’t enough(wireless and lightning), and a lagging or nonresponsive screen more than 50% of the time.

I’m on both a 15 Plus (e-SIM) and a backup 11 (physical SIM) and have had no issues with either one. Both on T-Mobile.

Yes ios 17.4.1 have caused heating and lagging issue. In 17.5 betas i can confirm lagging issue is gone ..but heating issue is still there but the hope is there is still one more beta to come in so hopes are high it will fix heating issues
I downloaded 17.4.1 version (2) the day it came out and haven't had any issues on my 14 Pro Max. In fact, I've only ever had minor infrequent issues since I switched to Apple in 2019. Just my experience but when I do have an issue, I usually shut off and restart and that solves it.
I always restart my phone after a software update and the majority of times I have no issues.
My 14 Plus has had some typing and flickering issues and suddenly charges slowly (using an official 20 w Apple adapter). I switched to my Pixel 8 Pro just for a smooth experience as I use my phone for work and can't have any nonsense.
Edit mode on large digital clocks in standby mode is completely stuffed. After 1 colour change it completely locks you out and edit button vanishes. Give it a try. Using 15 Pro max. It’s been like this since 17.4.

Now that you mention it…. I updated to 17.4.1 on my SE3, and my phone’s connectivity on data got progressively bad. Recently switched to 15+, using the same physical SIM. Looks fine so far but I’ve only had this phone for about a week, so let’s see.
When you report these issues to apple 🍎 what do they suggest you do ?

14 Pro Max. There is also data loss with most recently taken photos and received text messages. Pretty much, whatever issue is occurring and the phone is rebooted, that information is lost. My biggest issue is screen unresponsiveness. This is also one of the worst updates I've ever encountered.

I am on 17.4.1 and dont seem to have all the issues, except for more than usual battery drain.
3 Things I noticed since the latest update .
1. Sometimes the iPhone ( 15 Plus) gets hot whilst charging with a 12W Apple charger.
2. Although I set max charge to 80%, since the update it always charges over 80% , once to over 90%.
3. A few times overnight my phone lost 20-30% charge. When I looked at battery usage 86% WhatsApp
13 Pro Max here on 17.4.1, no issues
iPhone 15 PM running 17.4.1, always running hot when connected to car play, and dropped calls everywhere.
Took the phone to the Genius Bar, who ran a test and said nothing up it’s your network. However, put my sim into my partners s24 and no problems with dropped calls
Thats crazy. How does apple make a snapdragon modem work worse than an exynos modem , Qualcomm is modem King , they are literally called Qualcomm wich means quality communication
I have the iPhone 14 and when I was charging up my phone it was charging really slow and when I had make a call I could not make a call when I uploaded a page like RUclips and it could not pull-up when I use my wifi I could not use my wifi I thought it's just was me until I see your video thanks bro for the information

Similar problems here with 15 Plus.
My XS has been very problematic since. Heat issues etc, keyboard goes bonkers, notes freeze up now, Facebook issues, slower and glitchy, and the max volume through the speakers basically halved itself. Worst update I’ve ever experienced.

My phone keeps going into SOS mode and AT&T says it has to do with the update as well.
We have some of the same issues with iphone 12 and 15 pro max-overheating, SOS modes for no reason, battery life less, overheating while charging have to stop charging and has to cool down before resuming all issues on the 12 and 15 with ATT.... Thanks so much for the info!
I had my phone going to SOS when I was at an area where 5GUC was strong. I had to put it on airplane mode and switch it off and it went back to 5GUC and I get overheating issues time to time, the keyboard is glitchy in certain apps like messages, iOS is getting where android used to be. Laggy and buggy. I’m using a 14 Pro Max.

My iPhone 13 Pro Max will not connect to cellular service with this update. Somehow my auto update got turned on in the iPhone updated itself just to be totally screwed this morning. I’ve already tried multiple sim cards with all the settings reset/restarted/every other idea under the sun from the fix videos. Nothing works. (My sim card works fine in my friends phones.)
I had bugs in photos and files app/some apps in 17.4

I have the 15 Plus on T-Mobile USA with an e-SIM and no issues.
Just great I just bought my iPhone 15 pro max phone and updated to iOS 17.4.1 and now my battery is draining to fast.!😮😱I knew I shouldn’t have updated it.!

I have been experiencing connectivity issues on 17.4.1 on an iPhone 14 Plus since April 24th, so almost a month after the update! I have deleted/added the eSIM, reprovisioned my account with T-Mobile US, done multiple DFU restores setting up as new, iCloud restores, and the like. Apple blames the carrier and T-Mobile kicks me back to apple. Obviously it’s an Apple issue. If I force it onto LTE it works fine. Has anyone else been able to fix this? Or do we just have to hope that 17.5 does the trick? Has anyone updated to the 17.5 beta yet and had it fix the connectivity issue?

Apple wants you to upgrade the phone so they intentionally kill the last gen to justify that. I've had a pixel 7 and it's still performing as good as the day i got it.
Base model iPhone 15 in Canada here. No problems to report.
I don’t experience the sos bug but I would say that the phone does get uncontrollably hot. Using 15pm and 15 ATT
No problems on my SE 2022 battery life as normal.
I got an iPhone SE 3 (2022). Not experiencing any issues. My carrier is Verizon.

I have a 15PM with iOS 17.4.1 and it’s awful when I use the camera the phone overheats camera lags if use it outdoor in the sun screen gets dark after few minutes. Very disappointed. I’m planning to buy a Samsung S24 Ultra o maybe Pixel 8 Pro.
Is this condition on a specific IPhone or all of them that receive apple updates? I have no Apple products but have a friend that has the Apple 12 and he hasn't mentioned a problem.

No overheating issues on my 13 mini.
My iPhone 15 pm got uncomfortably hot while charging in my car. So hot felt the need to take my case off. It did help so I didn’t think much of it. Also had the SOS pop up a couple times out of nowhere. Btw my carrier is verizon

Lucky I don’t have any issues with mine other than the battery health ticked down to 99% with only 91 cycles. Other than that, it is working fine.
So is that why T-Mobile has the Series 15 on finance for $15.41 on 256g, 512g and 1Tb?

They have temporarily halted the S22 One UI 6.1 update because of bugs.
I have an iPhone 15 pro, i updated my phone and ever since it just keeps rebooting on me. I turn it on, use it for a few minutes and it reboots. I’ve had to switch to using my iPad as a phone 😅
My iPhone 11 is barely surviving. This update has ruined its battery life and performance.

I have been using the 15 pro max since it came out and I would agree that it has been getting buggier or laggier continuously after each update. I switched to the iphone from many years of samsung / google phones and I am not all that impressed. Its a good phone, but not really a great phone. Wifi calling is better on the android phones and cellular reception isnt as good on the iphone. It feels like apple has really been resting on their early success in the market and its beginning to catch up in a more noticeable level. This tends to happen, innovative people get replaced with marketing types that repackage the same basic product.
Had the iPhone 15 pro for almost a week and haven’t had problems, 8 hours on screen time with hardly any idle time for multitasking through apps and watching RUclips
Note: Now what I do is NOT use my phone when charging since I’ve had a bad habit of doing that and my 12 pro max would heat up since I would use it while charging
13 Pro max here. I haven’t noticed any major issues for me personally.
With that many issues, I’d try a master reset and restore. Maybe that will fix it.
What is it with these updates? Seem very buggy recently. By far the worst for me was pixel 7a. Caused an unpleasant stutter and poor battery. Bluetooth issues. Fixed after factory reset but after 6 factory resets after various updates I had enough and got galaxy a54 which was fine until one ui 6.0. That made it work more like an a14 with primary school colours in the camera and freezing up. So i got Xperia 5iv which worked great until guess what another update. Now you can't change speaker volume in some apps and randomly something heats the phone up occasionally and drains the battery. Usually RUclips. Google mess them up (android 14 hasn't been that great on pixel 7a, galaxy a54, or even Snapdragon based sony 5iv) and now apple is messing up there's. Who tests these updates? Its Russian roulette everytime you update. Sometimes makes things much better ither times worse. Windows now seems the most stable and ps5 updates also seem fine. There must be some complex changes made to these phone ones.
I'm still using IOS 16.x. I didn't want to deal with Apples nonsense.
Base s24 snapdragon here. RUclips is back heating up my phone and draining the battery. It's the only app that acts like this.

My phone was awesome UNTIL i did the 17.4.1. Multiple issues, overheating, iMessage it’s now useless, it freezes, will not allow me to go back and correct errors, the screen is sometimes totally unresponsive and other issues. I’m so disappointed.

You’re charging issue may not be an issue at all what I did with mine. I had the same issue. I poured 90% isopropyl alcohol into the charging port clean it waited about an hour plugged in problem solved

Iv got IP 15 PM I’m at 215 cycles I got the phone in November 23 just short of 6months old now battery capacity went from 100% to 98% in less than 24 hours after doing latest update to 17.4.1 I was expecting a 1% drop was due but not 2% in less than 24 hours
I'm currently on 17.5 Beta 4, on my 15 Pro, and I have no issues 😊.

I’m on Developer Beta (iPhone 14 e-SIM) and mine is noticeably worse! I had to remove my case, cannot charge while on CarPlay or it instantly starts to overheat, iMessage isn’t working(only sending as text), screen, app, and touch response is very slow, LTE when I usually have 5g, SOS randomly, says I have service in known dead zones, drop calls, Call Failed notification frequently. It’s awful.
I haven't had any problems on IOS 17.4.1 but my Samsung S24 Ultras battery has been draining really fast
