Thanks for these 2011 49ers uploads, Bart! I missed out on the dynasty years (born in ‘98, became a fan in ‘06), so this was my first time watching a great 49ers team. The Shannahan years have brought some fun, magical seasons, but 2011 was something else entirely.
My goodness, smith looked like Joe montana in this game. Not a shot at smith who I think was underrated for many years, and not saying he looked like Montana at his best, but this game he looked like the average Joe Montana game. Accurate downfield, intelligent usage of mobility behind the line to extend plays, take the rush lanes they give you for first downs, throwing on the run, footwork from under center was perfect. Of course Montana was so great these performances were expected for him weekly at a minimum, but smith was doing a damn good impersonation in that game.
I was actually at this game and it was so badass... This year the 2011 with a special year for us 49er fans because the 49ers the past 78 season of were bad and they weren't just bad they were horrible.... The 49ers set records that no NFL team wants and we were even considered one year The worst offense ever in NFL history... Not to mention the drama inside the organization with Mike Nolan and Alex Smith that Mike Nolan question his toughness and then later on Mike singletary says that he needed a quarterback after he got fired... I don't think any other player went through so much hardships then Alex Smith who still is one of my favorite football players of all time but we were awful and when Jim Harbaugh came in not only turned around in San Francisco 49ers but Alex Smith as well it was a great moment.... I knew that you were special that year right after beating Detroit Lions who were undefeated early in the season.... Only if we didn't fumble twice in MC championship that I believe we would have gone through the super bowl and beaten the Patriots the 2011 San Francisco 49er team will always be one of my favorites
Thanks for the upload Bart! Jim Harbaugh made the 49ers an NFC Contender right when he started coaching for them. Do you happen to have 1995 Buccaneers @ Vikings, 2015 Steelers @ Browns, and 2010 Saints @ Buccaneers? I know you are posting the 49ers games in order but can you by any chance post the 2013 49ers @ Cardinals game if you have it?
I never watched that particular contest (2013 49ers @ Cardinals), but I do remember that showdown because it had very serious playoff implications. San Francisco needed a win combined with a Seattle loss to win their 3rd straight NFC West crown (although they would've been stuck at seed #2 due to losing against Carolina at home in Week 10), while Arizona, despite entering the finale at 10-5, had a long shot of the postseason, needing both a win AND Tampa Bay (4-11 at the time) pulling a win out of their ass at New Orleans (due to the Cardinals losing at the Saints in Week 3).
