The thing about being misunderstood is that it's the experience of almost all Pakistanis. Pakistanis have been misunderstood and stereotyped for a long time and that applies to all communities here because the outside world doesn't know about our diverse communities. Most only associate negative stereotypes with Pakistan. If you ask most Pakistanis, they have experienced this from the world. I am saying this as someone whose an ethnic minority in Pakistan. It doesn't mean issues don't exist here but the world looks at us in a very stereotypical (and might I say bigoted) way where they don't associate art, music, drama, culture and literature with people but only extremism. Pakistanis irrespective of which city and province they're from, treat everyone whether local or foreign with respect. Of, course bad apples exist but our people have been misrepresented for a very long time. All communities in this country share this feeling which is why it makes us really happy to see such beautiful and artistic representation of Pashtun culture as well. I am not a Pashtun but I still had tears of joy in my eyes when I first heard the song. The liberation depicted near the end is felt by us all where we feel overcome with the need to showcase the abandonment that comes from shedding everything to embrace our purest, deepest selves.
I’m Punjabi but I grew up in KPK and lived near and visited a lot of Pashtu speaking cities (Peshawar, Mardaan, Nowshehra, etc) and this song was pure nostalgia to me as well as the old sequences in the BTS especially in the end with the dance. It was beautifully done! Us Punjabi’s are so very proud of our culture and background and we tend to look down on other cultures sometimes without even meaning to so I’m very grateful to Xulfi and the entire team for making me fall in love with the Pathan culture. They are some of the most loving and hardworking people I’ve ever seen. And resiliency is ingrained in their genes.
Jyoti you explained it perfectly this is years worth of frustration of being misrepresention we pashtoons infact all Pakistanis are people of love thank you both 🙏❤️ best reactions on coke studios ever
Nice review. P.S. The tradition of children with coal marks on their faces and collecting food is not due to lack of food, it's sort of an ancient superstition for making it rain. The concept being making children happy so they will pray since they are innocent and clean and their prayers will be answered more.
it’s not about those kids being hungry and going door to door to collect edibles, it’s more like a cultural thing where you collect goodies in your neighbourhood and then celebrate eating it together. even till this day this is being celebrated in pakhtoon culture in traditional villages
Man this girl is still putting the same amount of effort as she used to put in her older videos. She has always been consistent with her work, Much appreciated...Keep it up 👍🏻😊
Have you guys listen to these CS 15 songs in your car?? They just sound amazing. Don't know what they might have done with the soundscape this time but listening to these these new songs in your car was lot different now.
abdullah siddiqu is gifted with immense talent he attended performing art school in USA , so he knows his stuff quite well and it’s reflected in some of the gems he has created to-date
on your point of level of frustration in these people, let me tell you a bit about richness of pakhtoon culture - this dates back to 5000 BCE. peshwar was the centre of festivities across whole of northern pakistan afghanisation . It was corridor for indian subcontinent to connect to northern areas including afghanistan, iran and china. Peshwar was a party place where all traders used to gather during their travel for good music food and festivity and story telling. Due to Usa war on terror and our own bad policies these people have been wrongly portrayed by the international media including our dearest neighbour. this is what zulfi was referring to when he said the warmth of our love will be felt by the world due to such maverick pieces produced in coke studio
I am not finger pointing at any particular neighbour but our eastern neighbour is particularly very hostile, hopefully coke studio will bridge the gap between two nations
@@paklad100 That ‘hostility’ is called self-defence, and is a direct consequence of and response to the actions of people from that land. While we can appreciate and praise the good when we see it, I think a bit of self-reflection is also imperative. The notion of “wrongly represented” is incorrect and implies a shirking of all responsibility at your end. A more accurate introspective statement would be “we have allowed, for too long, the bad elements to be our representatives”. When your leading narrative, message, and actions (again, set by your own people) become positive and love-filled, why would others not embrace it and praise it? Something for you to think about. And maybe you forget, but we are from this “hostile eastern neighbour”, so coming into this comments section to imply that the neighbour who has been constantly attacked from your end is wrong in being wary of their hostile neighbour is a bit cheeky. I do mirror the hope you expressed, and I do believe Xulfi is on the right path, of altering your representation towards the better. Have a good day.
@@JyotiSardarYou are really overreacting in your comment lol, are we really going to pretend all India has done is, as you say, "self defence"? Don't you have a Hindu supremacist as your leader? I think you need some introspection on your end as well lol
I am Punjabi but I have spent almost more than half of life in pakhtoon culture I remember this thing that when there’s no rain from longer time then small kids paint their faces black and go house to house and asked people to throw bucket of water on them and then they pray for rain Coke studio has portrayed this thing so beautifully in the first scene when people are standing in oasis looking at the sky waiting for the clouds and rain and later they have shown raining it’s awsome
Every culture that exists in my country is beautiful in all aspects. Unfortunately, even being Pakistani we have little to no knowledge about our own country. But fortunately, we have Zulfi who brings it all in the forms of such treats. I’m from Karachi and I’ve learned so much about Sindhi, Punjabi and pakhtoon culture just by watching Coke studio videos alone. Beautiful ♥️

Pashtuns are stereotyped and misrepresented inside Pakistan. It has the roots in the colonial construction of different ethnicities which kind of the same with Indian North east but in our case we had to carry that baggage for decades due to the different wars in cold war and war on terror.
