I still remember seeing my first Mythbusters episode, the Demolition Derby special in Season 5, that was the perfect introduction episode for me because it told me what the show was about in the most exciting and memorable way

I think the duct tape parachute collapsed because it was too heavy compared to Buster, so it fell to the side and collapsed, then didn't have enough air time left to open again or got tangled.

Hmm... so if Buster had a bit more weight inside his metal and rubber skin, do you think the parachute can be effective? 🤔

I think that might increase the sink rate too much, duct tape is simply either too weak or too heavy to build a reasonable parachute out of. But I of course don't know that for sure, so a revisit would be nice :)
      Let's see if that happens.

Two major flaws in their design; 1) they failed to use crosshatch lines for rigidity once opened, and 2) they didn't use a stiffener line around the edge of the parachute. Had they done so this chute would have worked without a hitch.
In fact, they need to go to smaller parachutes rather than a larger one. Three smaller parachutes would have worked more efficiently given the weight constraints of the duct tape, and even if one failed the other two should provide the necessary surface area to drop Buster's speed below the 16 mph threshold.

They should of tested 4 flat tres as well

Fair point, but I doubt it would be a lot better than the rims. My guesstimate? Between the rims and DTT.

@@dovesr0478 it's not. Banijay bought Beyond International in 2022 and so they also bought the rights for "Mythbusters". Maybe you should google stuff before you act like you know it.

Helicopters cant fly high enough to have parachuters. Buster is such a dummy. Fun Fact - with no tires on rims- the speedometer wont be accurate
