This is, without doubt, the best guide that I've ever seen for this task. Thank you very much for this! I really do wish that all guides were like this.
Is it possible the o-ring is bad down below by the rack? I know I have an air leak but it also looks a little wet at that fitting. But my fluid level is never dropping. I’m always at the cold max line when cold. The pump whines during the first start of the day. Only when cold. Also, is that pressure line much cheaper than an OE? The local dealership’s price is $359.99.
On my 2001 EJ20 outback it's the high pressure side line at the junction where the pressure side hose connects to the metal 90's to go to the steering rack. I'd like to find braided lines to go from the pump to the rack and back at least on the high pressure side. Eliminating points of failure seems to be a common problem for these Subie power steering systems.
+Truong Nguyen Thanks for watching! The cost for this repair can vary from shop to shop, but this job should take about an hour, plus the part and materials. 1aauto.com
16:09 Is there any concern that the steel braided line might rub against the bracket over time, wearing down the braiding? I would have thought adding a rubber hose or some other kind of rubber wrap between the braided line and the bracket/mount would reduce friction and rubbing on the steel-braided line.
+Bill Winterberg Thanks for watching! It wouldn't hurt so add a bit of rubber around the hose where it goes in the bracket, but it should not move around so much that it will break down prematurely. 1aauto.com
@@1AAuto Thanks for the reply. I was watching this as my 2004 WRX started leaking power steering fluid. But guess what? The screw on the fitting where the pressure-side hose connects to the rack was loose! It just backed out on its own and started leaking about a hundred miles ago. I was ready to buy both the pressure and return side hoses, but a quick tightening with the 14mm wrench seems to have done the trick. Thanks again for this video, it is super helpful.
You'd be correct, just finished myself, only cussing was trying to thread the rack lines into these pressure lines with the no space above the subframe lol.

I buy almost all my parts from these guys. Price wise it's hard to beat them alot of the time
+DPG Productions Thank you for your order! We'd love to hear about your experience. Here's a link to leave us a review on Google: goo.gl/i5JFNY
I love them too. Their videos are top notch. I don't think anyone can compete with them or rockauto when it comes to pricing.
Great how too btw. Helped me remove mine with ease!
Is a 14mm flare wrench totally necessary for the OEM line or will a regular 14mm work?
Thanks for the video. My old hose had rubbed against the turbo, which burnt a hole in it. The new hose is zip tied far away from the turbo.
Where did you buy your part? I can't find the part on there site. Same thing happened to me this weekend.
Did you replace this oring with the provided vinyl seal? I'm having trouble with mine, and I think maybe I forgot the seal.

Anyone know if the same line would work in 04 Forester XT?
would it be better to replace the O rings from my understanding those fail first and or are the primery thing that starts leaking
What is the part number to find this? I went on the site
Which one would be one that would drip on the exhaust manifold after it warms??
Are you getting smoke?

Where can i get that hose ?
Looks like it is the IAG Performance hose
your local napa auto parts store
anyone watching this should toss out those brackets if you haven't already. You'll know which ones when you attempt this job
How much does this repair cost at a shop?

Anybody know the Subaru part number? TIA
This job looks tough, i bet the blooper reel has a bunch of cussing.

What size / AN fitting and hose is that please?
Iag hose kit
You should probably say that this is with AN fittings...
I have to change mine. I smelled coolant/oil/smell. So I got the car on ramps and I notified it is this line….
Wheres the part link?
+Wolfy1091 We currently do not have this part available. Thank you for checking us out!
I'm starting to hate working on my Subaru, anybody else agree? There's no room to do anything
