Thanks man. I've been waiting for folks to catch up with the newer Compass's. I have a 2018 and when I first started looking for instructional brake videos there weren't any. Only for the older models. Now I can tackle my brake job with a lot more confidence.
every jeep video i search bro is the top recommended.. love it huge help brodie appreciate the work youve put in
Thx man for your video. I’m doing this on mine tonight. I got the black rotors to, they look clean! I added a layer of paint to help the color last a bit longer. Appreciate it brah !
Thanks for shooting this video. This saved me $$$.
Thank you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Well done ... Clear and concise instructional video.
Thanks, man.
Great job, you kept the work going with excellent commentary
Thanks for telling the size of the bolts. I went through 10 other videos before I found yours.
I dont have an 11, however i have a 7/16 and it fits perfectly on my 2016 jeep grand cherokee, thanks for the video brother
One the best channels on the tube bro preciate the info💪🏼👍🏼
Thank you bro, just trying to be a help in the community 🤘🏽
Thanks for the vid help ! Great job explaining detail !! you would make a great neighbor !
Great video.
Thank you for the content.
Gotta change mine tomorrow
great video just finished doing mines thanks brother!!!!!!!!!
Very helpful. Thanks for posting.
Badass rotors!! love them
Thank you 🙌🏽
Great job!
My brother thanks for this video I got the exact same ride you just saved me a ton of cash and gave me a great education 😊
Great video! Keep it up my guy 👍🏼😎
Thank you brother 🤘🏽
Great video !
Good video, it let me know what size hex socket i needed. I had never done a Jeep before.
Very helpful thanks bro
Thank you for the O ring removal tip.
Your GC is sweet!!
Mine in a velvet red ‘18 Limited.
hey i have a limited x as well can you list the breaks ,break pads , rotors, and break calipers you put on your jeep please.
Great, well explained video. Thank you! The only thing that I did not see was retracting the parking brake before doing back brakes. Is this needed on this model?
Thanks for the vid! Excellent. I enjoyed your unpredictable sense of humor too. "And I don't know what the HELL that is, I'll just spray paint it!" and "GD Spider!" I had to rewind a few times to watch that again (big scary spider). Anyway, I made a manual from from your vid, complete with annotated screen captures and everything. I'll give it a try - I figure at least one wheel. I might end up crawling back to Firestone in the end. You made it look easy (except for the spider) so I thought I'd try.
I love the bucket idea. Thank you!
No problem 🙌🏽
@@BlklimitedXhow I’ve been doin mine for yrs. First time I seen a RUclipsr use it lol also makes for good seat
Very clean work...I'm looking for some rotors for my 2018 GC Overland where do I get those?
Great video man! Trying to figure out how best to jack up my WK2, any issues with having both the jack and jack stands on the pinch seam? The factory jack point seems like it’s a little small to do that super safely
I have 2020 GC High Altitude with air suspension. Is ahything different in the process for this model?
2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X. 5.7 l do you have to hook up a scan tool and put the truck into service mode to collapse the rotors without causing damage
This video is great!
Do you have the 18" rims? If so, did you consider going a touch larger with the new brakes? I am questioning if I go stock size or up a bit to add more stopping power.
Great video, but no torque specs on the bolts and what size are the rotors?
Would this procedure work with the 2016 model year as well?🤔 Great video!🔥💯
Do you know what the length and width is for the front and back brake calipers on the 2018 jeep grand Cherokee limited??
Hey been watching your videos for a min and was looking to do this myself and save some money what rotors would you recommend?
PLEASE HELP.....
I didnt see your mention anything about brake service mode in the settings. How did you unlock the calipers?
Good job! Where'd you get them pads and rotors?
Nice informative video man!
Appreciate it 🙌🏽 just trying to help
@@BlklimitedX definitely helped me!
How do we get this man more views!!!? Dope video!
Thank you bro 🤙🏽
What Jovanny said! Lol thank you 🙏🏽
Can you drop the link where you got the black rotors and brake pads from please
Nice harbor freight starter kit.
Hi nice video how you know the side of the rotors it 330mm or 350 mm thank you
I have the exact car you have. Even the same color. Did you order the 330mm or 350mm brakes from the website you posted?
How u take bracket off he say 17mm and 16mm but wat kind Rachet more info please ?
I just slapped mine on no loc tite no brakekleen 🤣 doing stuff all proper making me looking bad lol. They look so much better tho 😍
Lol you did the fast way 😂 and I love these way more than the stock ones 😩
Bro where can i find that black compression tool and how do i get the blackrotors
Great video. You did forget one crucial thing or maybe I missed it. Opening the brake fluid reservoir so that when you push the pistons back in it doesn’t push air back into the system.
Thank you bro and I actually did do that I just messed up and forgot to mention it in the video. A buddy of mine told me to make sure I opened it, thats why my hood is up. But thank you as well for that and anyone else who may not know 🙌🏽
What abt releasing some parking brake from computer?
@@BlklimitedX hey bro what size rotors you used for the rear and front ?
Thanks we have a 19 lim x needing brakes soon....I may do myself with mopar rotors and pads
What about the flux capacitor??
Excellent video. I got a 2018 Jeep GC Limited and I was wondering if both the 330mm and 350mm rotors fit. I can't find the spec for the OEM.
Thank you! And I think they will fit, check to make sure but I think they’ll fit just fine.
Great video! I’m gonna do this and save me some $$ I can use elsewhere!
Great video! Love your channel! I followed the link in the description for the rotors but it doesn’t have a Grand Cherokee option for the model option. Only the smaller 4 cylinder models (gladiator, compass, renegade, Cherokee). Did you have the same issue?
Thank you man and no, when on the website I just selected all models except SRT and Trackhawk and then I selected 350mm sized rotors
Get you an inverted torx socket set it’ll be much better, and you’ll be avoiding stripping the heads of the bolts.
Good looks bro, definitely will get that 🤟🏽
@@BlklimitedX The size you need is an E20
@@VF31Rules thanks man
my dude! lmao im laughing so hard of all this caliber brake part. I got the 2021 limited x. 3.6 with k&n cold air intake after watch your video. just ordered the Borla cat back exhaust. returned the peddle commander because I felt it was to stiff on the transmission without being in sport mode. and sport I didn't feel a difference turned up; what you think about it??digging the new wheels and rims you got !! dueces and them fat tires that shit dope.
Hey great job on showing how to change the brakes and rotor I definitely had to refer to your video often and I got the job done
Glad it could help man 🤙🏽
7/16 hex socket will works as well same as the h11
I have to admire your well rounded mechanical knowledge and especially your adherence to safety protocols. Great content brother. 🦾🦾🦾🦾
Appreciate you brother as always 🙏🏽🤙🏽
What's up with the hook on the front pads?
Yo even though many don’t build on the 3.6 grand Cherokee your videos are a huge help 💯 being a young dude I’m still learning how to work on cars but your videos have helped a ton i have to do my brakes on my gc this week so thanks 🙏🏾 you ever look into getting a ripp super charger ? Im on the fence between having an insane v6 or saving up for an older srt 🤷🏾♂️
I’m grateful to be able to help you man, that makes all this worth it. So thank you for the support 🤘🏽💯 and actually I have, I see they are coming out with a system for the 2020 models so I’m considering getting one. However I want to forge my internals first before get into boosting it to better my reliability. And upgrading to an SRT would be a good idea as well, but I want to keep my Jeep so I plan on just buying a Scatpack Challenger or even a Hellcat Challenger.
How many millimeters is the original rotor ?
Great video!
Next try a E-25 or E-24 socket to get the bracket for the rotors off
Correct size is e20
I will also put lithium grease on the caliper bolts
Thx
Nice video overall. Don't forget to put some grease on the caliper pins, too.
Thank you man and good catch. A lot of stuff I went back after and made sure I did. I planned on doing a remake soon of this as well.
Was looking to do the same with my 2016 HA. Did you get the black zinc color?
Yeah but the color faded off almost immediately lol. They still perform nicely though.
I think rather than 11mm Allen which is very uncommon an SAE size would probably fit perfect
Do you need the o-ring
Hey bro . What size is your rear and front rotors ? I’m trying to get the correct size for mines .
What size did you get
Great video but that music was killing me man! Lol I'm going to hear it all day.
Lol sorry about the music man but thank you!
Is your front 330mm or 350mm rotors? What year model is your jeep. Thanks
Mine has 350 in the front and 330 in the rear. And mine is a 2020 🤘🏽
Any chance you know the torque specs for the caliper bracket/pins. Thanks!!
Front caliper slide bolts: 41 ft/lbs, Front caliper bracket bolts: 148 ft/lbs, Rear caliper slide bolts: 20 ft/lbs, Rear caliper bracket bolts: 89 ft/lbs Wheel lugs: 130 ft/lbs
Looking for drilled and slotted for my 2018 high altitude. you have a parts list and where you got yours
Yes there’s a link in the description for the ones I used in this video.
@BlklimitedX thanks
Earlyyy
Notification gang 🤘🏽🔥
@@BlklimitedX Shamefully I'm late gang :( But I'm here though!
I was going to do both pads and rotors, but I got my priorities mixed up and bought yet another amp and Mechman high output alternator, lol. Did change out the pads with Hawk Ceramic carbon fiber and left stock rotors which are in good shape. I've never had a vehicle, let alone heavy vehicle, withstand my heavy breaking to 72,000 miles on stock pads. The mechanic even said I still had plenty of life left. Is this a fluke, or has OEM braking improved that much?
I will say braking with the Hawk pads feels so much better. So much smoother stopping and better modulation. Only have about 250 miles on them, the true test will be hitting the brakes at 95, err I mean on 95 🤫.
Love your Jeep and the tasteful upgrades. Can't wait for what's next. Saw that sick steering wheel in one of your newer videos and had to go back to that video while hitting subscribe. Lol
Lol thanks bro, appreciate it 💪🏽 and honestly I think newer pads now a days a better suited at taking high braking and lasting a pretty long time. But I I wanted to upgrade to cereamic pads so I felt hey why not also show how to change them for those who may not know as well. But I have an even bigger upgrade I’m going to be doing soon 🤟🏽
@@BlklimitedX Can't wait!
Those vented rotors put on backwards?
No they were put on correctly. They’re directional and side specific.
Good video. But, I have a question. Why did you have to change the rotor(s)? They looked to be in good condition. Even if they got grooved by excessive wear from the pads, you can save a fair amount of money having them cut on a lathe at your local parts store if they haven't been cut or grooved from the pads and worn too thin. I see that you installed a higher performance rotor that may or may not provide better braking. However, I didn't catch that you mentioned it. Maybe, it was simply for the sake of creating the video. Just curious though...
Was it hard to get that rear rotor off??
No it was pretty easy. It was the first brake change so they weren't to bad to get off.
Would you ever lower your jeep ?
Yeah for sure, I wanted to start some suspension work anyway so I’ll do all of that.
All looking good. Why change all these...
Just to demonstrate how to do it for those who may know know. Going to be changing them again soon
Yo bro did you get the Semi Metallic Premium Pads or Ceramic Premium Pads?
Also you think these would still fit 2021 80th?
Ceremaic pads and yes these will fit yours 🤟🏽
Hello sir im your new subs from philippines ariel casaña bring me here
Word of warning.
There is a wiring harness that runs along the passenger side pinch weld... Be really careful how you jack it up on that side
Appreciate the tip 🙌🏽
Umm a 6 point on a torx bolt thoo
Torque specs?
Front caliper slide bolts: 41 ft/lbs, Front caliper bracket bolts: 148 ft/lbs, Rear caliper slide bolts: 20 ft/lbs, Rear caliper bracket bolts: 89 ft/lbs Wheel lugs: 130 ft/lbs
That anti rattle spring was hard to put back on 🤦🏽♂️
No One… 3:45 Me When i do my first Brake Change
The wheel literally holds the rotor on and the brakes. You don't need to re apply that ring. Lol
I can't believe the even added that rattle crap as well.
Hello sir im new subs here ariel casaña bring me here...
hello guys new subbie invite by ariel casaña
Definitely did not need that background music
im new subbed sir ariel casaña reffered me here
Hi sir newbie here ariel casaña invite

That’s not even the same jeep you started your video off with!
The calibers are yellow in the beginning of the video now that you’re working their gray!
The first car was a track hawk
It’s the same Jeep, I had caliper covers on that I removed to do the brake job.

And I believe it’s a e20 torx socket for the snug fit , you could grab them from Home Depot
