    Hey Leon, just gotta say I've noticed how quickly you knock out videos, back-to-back, all week long. Just want you to know people recognize your hard work and appreciate the content. I'm a video guy myself and know the hours that can go into every, single video. Always looking forward to your new videos man, have a wonderful week.

    I've occasionally used the Blackhole plugin for some stuff in the studio. Making it a standalone hardware unit is awesome. Obviously, the software editor isn't 100% necessary to get great verb sounds, but the possibilities it unlocks are simply magical.

    It’s a great sounding pedal. As I’m listening to the crystal clear effects I realize that this sounds exactly like a Roland rack unit I owned many years ago. I believe it was an SRV-2000. They just packed this up into a pedal.

    This pedal is amazing. I just had it arrive yesterday and I'm blown away. It's like all my favourite reverb pedals in one. Can do amazing reverse reverb, but also do stuff akin to the afterneathe from EQD. It's one for the ages for sure! One of my favourite pedal acquisitions.

    In 1994 Eventide debuted the DSP4000 as the follow up to the H3000 and included Black Hole among hundreds of presets carried forward. It remained in the list ever since, part of every Harmonizer. New powerful tweaks shown here allow for reimagined use of the reverb, great demo LT.

    For me, the most obvious critique is that the secondary functions of the knobs will not be visible on stage, particularly with another LED glowing next to the knobs along with the bottom two LEDs. If users are colorblind and or have astigmatism (both predominantly male afflictions) then this is even worse; particularly since the music production and guitar market is also so predominantly male.

    Now you can use the Black Hole and another algorithm on on the H9 together. Some people. Have 2 H9. This opens up the limitations having a dedicated Blake Hole.

    • @daveryan2148
      @daveryan2148 3 года назад

      That's my lure to it. I might get one so I can keep the H9 for everything else I use it for (mainly tricerachorus, harmadillo, pitch effects). Also I think both tricerachorus and harmadillo could be their own pedals. With the H9 I use a million different algos but I'd be happy with those two for modulations and blackhole all standalone on the board.

  • @courtney2018
    @courtney2018 4 года назад

    Can the same thing be done with the blackhoke preset on the H9, or is this a deeper dive into that preset with more functionality and tweaking that you can't get on the H9? I'd like to see some more destructive signal parameters to tweak. Maybe they're already there though. Sounds great. I'm a sucker for reverb and delay effects.

    • @LeonTodd

    I am considering it, I have the Eventide Pitch Factor. Which has delays, Reverbs, even fuzz. I use it sparingly. I have 2 Stereo Reverb pedals I swap occasionally on my 2 boards. I think this Black Hole would be killer for me. I already have Delays, modulation, and the Pitch Factor. I am actually thinking of the TC Electronic Plethora X 5 plus this Black Hole pedal. For a compact rig with less patch cables used. Ironically, I had rack gear that emulated vintage pedals: Rocktron Replifex. Then went to pedals with presets (rack like quality) now thinking of the Plethora which is like virtual pedals with rack like control. I am so confused?

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  4 года назад

      I have a Replifex! The ins and outs are super scratchy on it unfortunately but otherwise it sounds great.
      The pitchfactor is a killer pedal and would pair very nicely with this, or an H9.

    • @JRP3music
      @JRP3music 4 года назад

      @@LeonTodd I have 2 Intellifex, 1 Replifex, and 1 Multi-valve (Replifex with a tube). I paired them to get long delays. Controlled by Midimate Controller with my ADA MP-1 preamps. I had 2 racks one for my band's rehearsal space and the other for my studio. I used to live 50 miles from my band for awhile. Made it easier to commute.

    leon i love your stuff and all but you talked a few days ago that youre no 'shill'. i trust that youre objective with your opinion about the gear youre demoing but with gear that youre provided by the companies do you have instruction how to go about to make the demo? when a new hot item comes out i see reviews in my feed from all the big guitar channels within days but with this particular eventide pedal the reviews went online within literal hours. are you instructed to coordinate your uploads with the other guitarist channel so that the viewers dont have the slightest chance of missing the release of new hot gear

    • @LeonTodd
      @LeonTodd  4 года назад

      Usually it's "hey, here's the thing and if you could get something out around the time it launches that would be awesome". The buzz around a new piece of gear usually lasts a week or two hence the rush by the reviewers to be "first to market". If gear is good I end up doing multiple vids with it.

    12:32 onwards... If only that persistent, annoying sound was not experienced each and every time the settings changed. It should be possible to manipulate the transition from A to B. The artefacts that result after turning 'pots' are an acceptable annoyance when one's project is stopped but when A transitions to B during playback, they should not sound exactly the same each and every time.
    Also, I'm trying to convince my Dad to pick up his treasured Les Paul and actually create some music. He lacks motivation. I heard maybe a second or two of 100% dry, acoustic guitar and I realised that that's what he hears whenever he - rarely - picks his LP up. I recommend devoting some more time playing unplugged riffs so that the hobbyist can appreciate the massive contrast once Blackhole kicks in.
    My Dad will be blown away after watching this because he'll acknowledge how it's possible that he can create incredibly beautiful sounds from his expensive lumps of wood and metal.
