Thank you for posting this video. There’s not a lot of these kind of walk through on you tube. It’s really interesting to overhear about the roof rails being able to snap in on the inside too. What a great idea for protecting the carpet.
They are using a 400v architecture. But, apparently other than the battery everything is built to handle 800v in case they decide to build an 800v battery.
...Tesla sells nothing that competes with Rivian; they have no pickup truck and the Model X is an obscenely expensive minivan with ZERO off-road ability. The Rivian R1S is a real SUV with serious off-road chops. Rivian has backers with an endless supply of money; Ford for expertise in building tough trucks and SUVs, and a real factory that they didn't have to build from scratch. This is a no brainer long term play. .Unlike Tesla, Rivian's customers can get the $7500 federal tax credit. GO RIVIAN!
Thanks for the nice walk-around. I'd really like to get one of these. Sadly, the type of wheelchair lift that I use won't work with that split rear hatch. I've tried emailing Rivian with questions and all I got back was an email with PR/Corporate BS, and zero answers.
@@TheEVNerd, info@rivian.com is where I sent my original inquiries. After a pretty lengthy amount of time I received a reply basically saying, 'hey, thanks for the email... but I'll be passing this up the ladder.' After another lengthy wait I finally received a corporate-speak nonanswer-answer to my questions. As for aftermarket... the whole rear hatch would have to be redesigned/rebuilt. The problem is the lower 1/4 of the rear hatch folding down as a tailgate. That bit of tailgate would keep the wheelchair lift from operating properly. That would be (at minimum) an extra 10k on top of the price of the vehicle.
The body and paint scheme looks a lot better than in the past versions. It probably still has those goofy headlights but to each his own. I still think they are making a mistake and should be going for the commercial van market where there is no competition for the moment.
Yeah the headlights still remain, and the color options look great. They will be making a delivery van for Amazon in 2022 which I hope will also be available to the private fleet/commercial use at some point.
.,.Tesla is a sinking ship. Tesla is now selling to rental car companies like Hertz which is the worst place to be because that is the LOWEST margin. And people don't want to buy cars that are part of rental fleets.

Glad you enjoyed it. I plan to do a couple more walk arounds soon on new EV models for 2021. Stay tuned.
Why is the audio only on the right side...
The Rivian RS1 looks really good and the specs arent bad.
Agreed.
The RS1 has better specs than the Raptor. I would not be surprised to see an E-Raptor.

How big is the voltage of it’s battery?
Good question. I have a feeling I heard 800v or there about’s so it could use the newer higher power DCFC networks. But I will ask them and find out.

Hmmm wonder if the aftermarket can work on a solution for you. Also, you might have tried this already but have you reached out to info@rivian.com?

Rivian IPO? I want in!
Sold!
@@mikeb1039 $70K base model is what I would choose.
The Launch Edition R1S configuration has an estimated price of $77,500.
Tesla Model X and Y look like an egg on wheels.
