  • These two stores were built nearly identical by Marshall Fields back in the day and both opened around the same time. Now in 2020, Macy's has sold the real estate at both stores to developers and changes are now coming to both highly visible sites. This video looks at the small differences between the stores and the decline that happened within Macy's furniture business.

Great job man, I’ve actually never seen just a standalone Macy’s furniture gallery store, so this is pretty cool to see

I'm impressed that the one in Edina, MN still exists

Too bad I never got to these stores before they closed due to good ole' COVID. I just hope they can put that furniture space to good use in both Woodfield and Oakbrook. Should be back in Oak Brook once the state enters Phase IV of the reopening plan

These standalone Macy’s furniture stores are becoming rarer and rarer. They can consolidate into the main Macy’s building which will boost sales. It’s a win for Macy’s.

Macy’s just renovated my local store and the furniture department is actually really nice. It feels like a true furniture store, unlike the bland stores shown here.

@@davis6123 I agree, it's better to centralize operation into one location rather than spreading themselves out like this.

First, and I am glad to see this and I think at woodfield they are putting on the basement because a lot of the area was blocked off for remodeling the woodfield one to me looked better with color.

I was at Woodfield before I filmed this. The new space definitely looked better!
