Nice looking compressor. I'd suggest you also change the compressor oil soon as it operates very much like the gasoline engine. You might want to add some FUMOTO valves to make the oil changes easier and far less messy.

Mine is an 30 gallon ingersoll-rand with a 14 horsepower Kohler gasoline engine I had on my service truck for years. Never a problems....but in winter the moisture goes ice up the air cleaner....and I have to bypass the oil shut down switch during start up in below zero cold winter. Also, I have to clean the fuel as that ethanol is a problem on gas engines fuel systems . This has been the go to compressor of all the tire service road service outfits for decades.

I have same compressor. Moisture has gotten to the piston ring. I need to either rebuild the top end with new ring and piston or get a harbor freight predator replacement engine. My t-30 has low hours on it.
@@technicalitems731 I have a 212 that I put on a pressure washer and a rato 420 (I believe same as the predator 420, unless theirs are made by lifan) both are really great engines but I only have about 1 year into each. "RATO" and "LIFAN" make most of these engines used by various companies and are direct clones of GX honda engines as far as I know. I'd rather have a clone than a honda GC or GCV model any day.
after all that, put it in a well vented SEPARATE room in order to isolate noise. Homosote is good as sound absorber I am told. There are non-restrictive mufflers available that work well. Yes, I do know it is 5yrs old.
I have the same kind of air compressor but it's a Ingersoll rand. I think the specs are a tad higher on yours I did turn mine up years ago to 205 lb air pressure still running great. If you really want to see a mean gasoline-powered truck bed air compressor look at the rotary screw air compressors they're the best in the business and with a price tag to prove it. They have an air compressor, welder and generator all built in one box. The Ingersoll Rand air compressor representative years ago said I could turn it up to 205 lb of air pressure. It does make a little difference. I also use the 3/4 inch air line.

At some point I'm going to convert my gasoline powered 30 gallon truck bed air compressor over to dual fuel propane or gasoline. I like gasoline but the problem the needle, seat and carburetor always goes bad over time. With the generators I've converted to tri fuel like my Honda 2200. I've only run propane in my Honda 2200 and propane is the fuel you can let sit for years still start up no problems. And no gasoline problems ever. Your oil will stay cleaner running gaseous fuels like natural gas, propane or hydrogen, no gasoline in the oil, no black carbon on the spark plug. Propane and natural gas engines last much longer with less maintenance and cleaner than a diesel. No gasoline flooding problems running gaseous fuels. When I convert my air compressor over to propane and still can use gasoline and only run propane in it. I'll have a 4.5 gallon propane fuel tank minimum. Converting to propane you do lose 10% of power. I have seen a little difference in starting stuff on my generator another one I converted to propane. It really struggle to start some things on propane and one small motor the generator on propane wouldn't start it.

Honda engines have low oil shut offs so it wouldn't have even started if there was no oil in it.
@@1pcfred As long as it's not a clone... just because it says it a Honda... doesn't mean it was made by Honda... China make Honda engines... and pay Honda. I know it does because I bought one... It's a Honda engine... it says it's a Honda... but costs third of the price. Called a Honda clone. It's not a copy.. it's genuine... but it's a clone.
@@johnw6389 if it is a genuine Honda product then it will be made to Honda specs. The Chinese are more than capable of making decent products, if you pay them to. They have better heavy industry today than anyone else ever had.

I would go with a muffler. I hate engine noise all day. Even with a muffler most are still too loud. My Miller big 40 had no muffler but was optional. Made it a little better. It may also be better for the engine valves at shutoff time. Keeping cold air from hitting the valves while they are still hot.

Some compressors like that have a compression release so it pull starts easier. I spoke too soon you found it
Carbon Arc vs Plasma cutter, any opinion?
Carbon arc is useful if you need to remove a weld but keep the metal parts to reuse or reweld. Thick stuff is where it shines. Useful on excavating machinery to rebuild hardsurfacing,bucket repair etc. Hope this helps. AL B.
What was the process called with the graphite rod and air? Is it sometimes referred to as "broncing"? I've seen something similar used in stuck large equipment pins, looks pretty neat!
In the uk we call it carbon arc gouging, its so loud it makes your chest pound.
Carbon arc gouging, extremely quiet when i run my miller 200le at full idle and my honda engine air compressor in a suburb, i call it stealth gouging

Edit: I guess I’m the only one that fired up a new tool with out checking ( I did look & stuck my little finger in a new Costco pressure washer and it had oil on my dipstick appendage ,good to go right! ? )……wrong !!
