    I have been coloring my own hair for over 25 years and this is THE most helpful video I’ve ever come across! I’ve gone from permanent to Demi and back always covering greys. I get conflicting info about developer. It’s never explained well by anyone like it’s some secret so we won’t do our own color. Uhgg. You are such a jem! Thank you.

      i'm so sorry to hear that :( luckily for the future i feel like us new wave stylists are more interested in furthering both our own and our clients knowledge of hair vs old school either didn't know the answers because they never questioned the "why?" just knew that "when you do this, then this happen" or even when they did know they wanted to gatekeep the ancestors. i think youtube videos like this are a big reason why actually. it shifted the stylist culture into a more hospitable, educational, caring environment in the salons vs just trying to get people in and out so avoiding questions to maximize profit like we're taught to in school bc that's how they've always done things before us

    Last year I used a 50% Deevelopee at home, 1 hour + some change , 1st time ever bleaching my hair, to remove 4 layers of recently dyed hair (blue, green, red, black, brown). Scarest thing ever! and it Worked!!!! I used foils too. Love my blonde hair. ❤ but do no know if I would have the courage to repeat that. So glad my hair is a beast.

      Can you do a video on dying hair. I have greys at my crown but not the rest of my hair. I have dark brown hair just past my shoulders. Do I mix two different bowls? one 10 and one 20? and get two dye tubes. It just seems like I would be wasting one tube of dye for just a small amount of grey. Is there a better way to do this? This video was so informative, thank you. A hairstylist friend told me that I could water down my developer if I needed something less strong and it turns out I only need about 8% to color my curly, porous gray so I’m able to do it at home and use just enough developer to cover my roots and cause the least amount of damage possible. But it’s so helpful to have all this context and information to understand what’s going on!

    Great video, thank you for the very detailed explanation! I bleach my buzz cut at home. Because my hair is so short I can use 30 volume. I would describe my natural color as very light brown or dark (dishwater blonde). My scalp is not sensitive so I can leave the bleach on for the full time of 55 minutes and the result is a very pale yellow (light the inside of a banana). My question is regarding toner. I can not seem to find a toner that will get me to that perfect white platinum you see with a lot of beautiful blonde buzz cuts. I have used T18 toner but it seems to wash out very quickly and I still have pale yellow. Purple shampoo's (I've tried to many to count) do absolutely nothing to get the yellow out for some reason. I follow the instructions on the toner and use with 20 volume for about 15 minutes. If I leave it on any longer then my hair turns purple, not platinum. So frustrating! I have also tried Ugly Duckling professional brand high lift color in 100V. It says it will lift 2-3 levels using 30 volume. I pretty much am getting the same result. Am I missing something I could be doing or maybe a different brand toner?

    Why doesn’t 10 volume cover grays? (Like they’re literally white colored strands and even blonde is darker thab white.) I really wonder that

    • @julianabruno7032
      @julianabruno7032 5 месяцев назад

      A 10-volume developer doesn't effectively cover grays because gray hair is often coarser and more resistant, requiring a stronger developer (like 20-volume) to open the cuticle and deposit color deep within the hair shaft. In contrast, it works well for dyeing blonde hair, as blonde hair generally has a more open cuticle and less natural pigment, allowing the 10-volume developer to lift slightly and deposit color effectively.

      A toner deposits a colour on the hair. Toners are usually required after bleaching of 'lifting'. If your hair is too good or copper for your liking Ash or Beige toner neutralizes those unwanted tones. Basically any dye can be used as a toner if you are wanting to alter the current color reflect

    I'm here!!! I have a question and not sure if u can answer it, I have seen a video where they use a purple shampoo to soften the look of grey. Do you know if that actually would work?

      yes, just be careful not to use it too long- it will turn the hair purple. bold uniq on amazon is my favorite one, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative bondbar from Sallys purple shampoo

      @@brittneealexushair thank you! I just have a few greys through out so it will be nice to try this out! Kind of tired of dying it so I would like to embrace my grey as long as I can make it a nice shade of grey!

    Just from this one video, I subbed. You are amazing at explaining this.
    I have a question: I went to a salon and she balayaged my hair, but it did not lift to the blonde I wanted. I paid and left unsatisfied (I have been going to this lady for about 6 years, she does amazing highlights but not so good on painting the hair without foils). So here I have yellow hair (level 8), I purchased T18 and a 10-cream developer. You are the second video I watched (the first was Brad Mando). Can you tell me if I have to avoid the dark parts of my hair and only place it on the yellow? And if I get it on my roots, will it lighten? I only want to remove the yellowness. I can accomplish this with purple shampoo, but it washes out and I am looking for something more permanent. Thank you in advance!

      yes, you will want to avoid the dark parts- it will lift it to an orange/brass- it will not look great. only put it on the blonde parts of the hair. If you are nervous about getting it on the darker parts, you can put conditioner on those parts to act as a barrier cream

    Hi Brittnee! Not sure if I understand completely? Am I able to use a 30-volume for highlighting only, no highlighting powder required? I have fine and thin hair, so I never use much to begin with.

    • @brittneealexushair
      @brittneealexushair  10 месяцев назад +1

      you can use 30 volume with lightener but would stick to 20 if your hair is fine and thin- it can mix with the crème or powder bleach

    If I’m doing my entire head from natural to white, I use 30 volume. If it’s just my mustache, I mix equal parts 30 volume and 7 volume. I NEVER go over 30.

    My 14 yr old son had his hair bleached platinum white 2 months ago and his scalp blistered after. The toner was so painful that he cried during the process and the hairdresser was absolutely heartless to his pain he was in.
    It was traumatic and he’s scared to do it again but really liked the white and wants to have it again but is scared to do it.
    His hair is longer now with the top hair at 15cms and the back 5cms and would like advise going forward as to which volume you would recommend and if we should rather do foils so as not to touch the scalp🤷🏼‍♀️
