I get about as much anxiety as I do trying my own out by watching these videos. Goes to show you how he get you into his garage with with him. As he’s making these videos.
Im a bait maker and i gotta say i couldn't care less if i lose one. IF you're not getting snagged, you're not putting your lure near the fish's home. You will catch so many more fish when you stop caring, as well as eventually you just get good and stop losing them all together. I rarely ever lose baits now fishing heavily snagged areas for big fish.

12:00 You should look into getting a GoFish Cam to show the action of your lures underwater. Jon Skinner uses them to show how flounder chase baits and they're really nice cameras.

Another thing to think about: since you have this new sort of "kicking" lure action, definitely think about implementing some soft plastic hind legs.

It looks to me that the unique action comes from the lip pulling the front down, and the shape of its hips trying to pull the front back up. Definitely a cool build!
Who’s disliking these videos?? There is no good reason to dislike them. Love the video, great idea. You should make a jointed sea serpent bait with that same up and down action. Just tossing you an idea.

What happened to the complicated swimbait?
I love it. Interchangeable lips for different actions. Quick change even. maybe even putting an air pocket toward the front of the lip so that you can retrieve it faster before it opens. Oh the possibilities. I believe that you are on to something. Maybe you should Patten you new discovery. Keep it up guy!!!! I cannot wait to see the follow-up on this build .

That's the way it goes with prototypes. you kinda have to break them once or twice to figure out all the ins and outs. But your crazy idea worked! I vote for a follow up on this one in the future.

If you ever wanted a very difficult challenge I've got one for you. Make a crankbait with a soft body worm in it's mouth with hooks in it (or hooks to attach a soft body. I've often seen aggressive fish trying to steal food from other fish (once even caught 2 bass on one cast on the same crankbait). I doubt it would be the highest producing bait, but it would definitely be unique and a serious challenge to get the action right and actually catch something with it. If I had half your skill I'd try it myself.

Cool bait, can not wait see you fish with it this spring.
I think it's the drag caused by the water going over the humps on the back that is causing it to want to come back up. The lip opens and pulls it downward, then the drag causes it to want to level off, then the lip opens and pulls it down again, etc., etc. Adjusting those 2 parts, the size and shape of the lip and the size and shape of the humps in the back will adjust the up and down action. Silicon legs would work great on this bait too, I think. When it's in motion they will collapse backwards like a real frogs legs do when they are swimming. Then when you stop they will go back to normal resting position. Just some thoughts. Love the bait!

I can't wait for you to build a lure testing tank to show us the action on each one. Honestly I enjoy watching them work in the lake, but if you wanted to get good close-ups, either a line cam or a test tank would be great.

This is future ambitions for me. I started trying my hand at carving. Got one carved and started carving a second and I'm about 3/4s of the way done and carved me thumb. Still gonna keep at it!
