Bogner blue has been what I’ve been waiting for since 2019 (without realizing it). The Mahadeva is great but I was looking for more of an edge of breakup and the blue is PERFECT. Less is more on this update for me at least 🔥
Sounds great!! I just purchased my 2nd Line 6 Helix mainboard...had one a few years ago and traded it for a Kemper....just traded the Kemper for another Helix....so now I have to get back in the gist of the changes and additions to the Helix library. Even picked up a Powercab 212 Plus. I really appreciate your videos and look forward to any tips I can get from you on how to best setup my helix through the Powercab 212 Plus. Thank you John!! \m/
To be honest, 19th free update. The Bogner Red channel sounds incredible and the EVH Red channel finally gets the PV close to right. The PV Panama was awful, I've used the RevGen Red channel or even the PRS Archon Lead to get a brown sound for ages but this will undoubtedly make it top of my list now for high-gain lead. After trying it I am quite pleased with what they've achieved. I'm not sure if this marks the end of the lifecycle ahead of a new product release. Either way, we have to give it to Line6 for their commitment to improve their products on an ongoing basis. Yes, it is still a shame we don't have a BD-2 in the drive section. An oversight that should have been addressed years ago!
I’m just thankful that they didn’t try to charge us for the update like Kemper! I’m still pretty happy with my HX stomp and to be fair I use Native more often. For me to buy new hardware they would need to do something more than just the current gen with captures… because they still stand up to competition now.
HX Stomp is such a killer pedal. I’m looking forward to new versions of their larger units. Ideally much lighter and a bit smaller (but still with plenty of switches). A touch screen and potentially captures would be huge too, they’ve got so many effects nailed already.
Cool thing with the Ecstacy is that you can toggle the settings with snapshots and truly go from a clean amp to a high gain, so effectively gapless switching of different amp tones with the Stomp
@ right but in this case you can go from sparkly clean to heavy gain without dropping the gain to 0.1 or anything crazy. The boost switches are super versatile!
This is the 19th Free Update by the Line 6 Helix Team. The complex and numerous Amp Block Parameters is making me wonder if this approach is actually more useful and versatile than Captures, and Profiling. I've often wished Line 6 would add a custom Parameters section that the original gear did not have, for greater versatility. 🤷♀ Will be updating to it in the next couple days, as I like to watch the review/demos first. I think that the “custom parameter that the original gear did not have” is precisely the idea behind most pf their “Line 6 Original” models, but on the other hand, probably most people don’t gravitate towards those because of not being models of existing physical amps 🤷🏻♂️
Love the Helix stuff and gigging it since since they showcased their helix floor for acoustic and metal. What I am still missing, is a Randall RG100ES to finaly get absolutly into the Crowbar, Pantera stuff. Would be awesome.

Yeah that tone at 10:37 ish, that is COOL, has a neat Tonal Quality to it. Leave it to JNC to find Gold in them high Gainers for sure. And he even did a bit of D'Ghent, hope I got the Term Correct.
Love the amps on this update. Something for everyone, and I personally am a fan of every new tone. Biggest missing thing IMO is indeed the BD-2 and/or a variation (Keeley mod). I'd personally also like one of the more modern MIABs like a Wampler Pinnacle so I can run a "pedalboard-like" preset rather than having 2 amps for [clean to mid gain] and high gain.
TBD how incredible it is. If you longed for one of these amps, yes, it is probably incredible. I don't know if they are useable for me. Good video though, thanks for the rundown!
Line6 should get make the most of the mic input by putting in a Vocoder/Talkbox like the Boss VO-1. In general, i think now is the time for them to forget about accurate amp models -they’ve already given us so many amazing ones, and profiling seems to be the favored method of amp simulation currently - and just go nuts and get weird with cool studio utility stuff, IMO, vocoder, something like the Adrenalinn sequencer thing (something like the intro to “Bigger than My Body” by John Mayer), more synth based stuff, stuff that maybe isn’t the typical guitarist stuff but that would be fun, especially in studio.
Hey I got a challenge for you that might be fun for your channel. Learn to play left handed. If you teach guitar all guitar teachers need to teach themselfs with the lesson on left hand so you can get the perspective your students. I broke my hand 6 years ago and if I ever wanted to play guitar again I had to re learn to play left handed. Turns out breaking that finger was the best thing that ever happened to me. In three years I surpassed where I left off playing righty of over 30 years of playing. Its not easy I had play scales for at least 6 months before I could play anything.
I really want a morning glory in the hx stomp. I know there are a couple of blues breaker pedals in there, but for some reason none of them got the flavor of light crispy break up I want
Nice update without a doubt. But it clearly signals that new hardware is coming soonish... Why? Well, compared to the updates we have recently seen from others (Hotone, Headrush, IK Multimedia) and pretty much everybody adding proper capture/profiling solutions to existing devices... this is very very little for almost a year since the last update. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the HX Stomp XL over the competition (when paired with a Tonex), but this update screams: Don't buy now, this will be outdated soon.
Glad I have a reason to be patient since I just got a stomp xl without even knowing the helix lt exists. Love the stomp but immediately started hitting processor limits and started to regret not getting an lt.
On a side note... Does anybody have a theory what the "The Missing Link Update" badge on their site refers to... (or in other words: what am I missing)?

@ it is but as a grunge/punk/alternative/brit pop type player they’re not the sound I gravitate towards. I agree the Blues Driver is long over due and I’d like to see the EHX Microsynth & Polychorus enter the mix
I suspect because it sounds a lot like some of the other hi gain amps (particularly oblivion) to the point they may well have been already inspired by it. Everyone was just screaming for a 5153 without asking if those tones were actually possible in there already

Meh, i would thanks if i use amps and cabs on stomp, but i just use the overdrives, comps, diatortions and effects. I hope Next update is desicated to those who incorporate stomp on their analog setup. They could emulate the halo pedal and Staple pedals, better marketing and could cqtch some new users with this aditions. I believe it even could smash the new cortex.
Fractal did this the wrong way years ago where every time they'd update firmware, all your saved patches would sound different to the point that it could fuck up your show
We’re still missing a convincing bias tremolo. The one they have in there is off. I’ve tried to get it to sound like my hand-wired AB763’s bias tremolo (that I intentionally built with bias tremolo and not opto trem) and the HX’s bias trem sounds yuck in comparison.

You can do that with any amp. I love pushing their Dumble clones and the Friedman from clean to overdriven

Lovely update. Just updated my Native to 3.8 and the new amps sound instantly great!
On the Fender amp, try setting the bass at zero, middle and treble at ten and then rolling your tone knob down by a lot. All the old cats did it

there's a whole friedman HBE in there though, just use the preamp block of that
