Too small of exhaust? You should see the custom exhaust on my 5.3 Envoy. they used 2 1/4 tubing for the dual exhaust after the muffler, and CRIMPED at the bends that make it look like 2". I'm sure the engine is choking right now.
I'm guessing no inspections on old trucks in California? What a scary thought of driving a goobered up truck on the highway. Should handle nicely when your finished. You do top notch work and I always enjoy watching your videos.
Merry Xmas to you Lucky, keep it up and looking forward to getting these classics back on the road. Cars like these deserve to be driven and driven hard. The work you do with The Guys at Motor Trend is great, but seeing you in you're own shop, is fantastic. Looks a little bit more relaxing there. Looking forward to 2020
Taking a stab that you may read and reply to this question. You're very busy I get it. Would it be more cost effective to box the frame and adapt modern suspension to a late '50s truck for a diy build? 10K is not in my budget but plenty of time is. Great vids btw. Thanks
David Sawyer Hey David. Yes. You can save big bucks if you have the time and tools to box it yourself but there’s lots more to it then just boxing the frame.
Hi Lucky! when you upgrade the power train on older vehicles like that truck do you need to be overly concerned about how far you go with moderate horsepower and torque gains? In essence I'm talking about the stress that frame was originally designed for and then adding a 400 +/- horsepower setup. Of course, I'm basing this question on a solid/original frame that has not been hacked.
Working at Hot Rod Garage, and on off time , tinkering in "Shopvarna". Now i know why they call you Lucky. Just kidding. I'm wondering if you could give us a little background on your experience.
Hey lucky , I watch hot rod garage a Lot to help me build my ride and especially the 5 speed 4 door Malibu build being a g body . I’m upgrading the front suspension on my g body regal and I wanted to get your advice on which would be the better handling kit? Umi , Qa1, or ridetech , and still be able to fit 15”-17” wheels . They all range between $2200-2400 . In other words which would be the affordable rout to get the job done lol
Thanks for the Video..... I never fail to be surprised at the Hack Work people will do with no regard for the safety of the people involved. Whether its Electrical or Mechanical safety is and always should be Paramount, not OK is good enough or "Just Right".
Not to rip on what your doing but to just bust on what someone did in the past to put something together which obviously lasted quite a while, thats true hot roddin. Just going to the store and buying a $20000 frame to just drop in is not possible for everyone to do especially in your million dollar garage. Some people with limited budgets and laying in a stone driveway scab together some pretty decent shit
I get what you’re saying. I spent many years working in my and other peoples driveways and 1 car garages. I have seen some amazing stuff I have also seen some very sketchy stuff. To be honest I have Done some very sketchy stuff. This customer asked me to make her ride safe to drive on long trips so now it’s my responsibility to make make it safe and make sure she get value for her money. If this truck breaks down or breaks in half it always falls on the last person to work on it. Hope you get it 👊
Pretty hard not to recognize a TB400 Transmission pan. I am just came across this post and never watched this channel before but a flub like calling a TB400 a TB350 makes me scratch my head. I had to laugh a bit at the places on the frame he was calling the “sketchiest” because they were the least important (forward of the steering box) I will admit that frame in the truck was not the best but with the addition of a some fish platting and a little rewelding work it would be serviceable for a low horsepower driver unless there is a lot more wrong with it than this head spinning video myself I will be curious how it will all fit on that “replacement frame” that is flat ladder design and the frame in it doesn’t look all that flat. O well not my problem.
Hard to make a bunch of money being an installer unless you criticize what other people do, never seen a thing wrong with the Cameo swap except they didn't grind everything down to your approval, have did over a dozen of them and have seen a hundred or so all made before so called mechanics could buy a frame already in a box and install it that the Lady who owns the truck might be able to do..
For someone who works with professional videographers in other shows your videos really suck. South main auto is a professional mechanic and not a videographer but does a very much better job so does Eric the car guy. I understand that you are more about the work you do than videoing it but the quality of the videos is letting you down you’d be better off not doing it at all than the level you’re currently doing it at. Before shooting anything stop and think about how not to look bad, having a light handy would be a very good start.
@@luckysgarageshow . I watch your vids because I like to see the stuff you work on But I have the same gripe with Jay Leno sometimes and he doesn't have the excuse you have of not being a media personality and actually trying to work on vehicles He has a team to do both the work and the videography for him and he still gets it wrong especially when he forgets it's the cars that are the star of the show not his fat head.
You need a little flashlight to help show us the cool stuff hiding in the the dark. Can't wait to see the frame swap on that beautiful truck.
You are the king of frame off restoration. I don't think I've seen anyone care as much as you do about your clients. I wish I could afford you.
Good job Lucky.
I really appreciate that you do a thorough job and actually finish your projects 😅
Cool project! I hope we get to see more of this one.
Looking forward to the rest of the build.
I love these little updates, great to see the projects you have on the go.
Awesome truck. Beautiful clean frame. Very nice
Looks like a fun project. Merry Christmas, Lucky.
Good to see another post from you Lucky and Thank You!
Lucky need some more light. Couldn’t see the sketchy stuff under the truck.
Actually, you need a dedicated camera person.
that wagon is sexy! cant wait to see it run
The owner of that truck is going to be so happy with this build.
Man that chassis is a shocker. How do people come up with that crap. Good job mate. That new chassis looks good.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas Lucky 🌲

Another outasite lucky transformation👍
You rock dude!!!
Oooh, I want a frame like that for the '55 IH pickup that I am planning to build!
So many cara built in the 80s-90s got a camaro clip "scabbed" on and seems they all look just like that lol
That's going to be a cool truck man
Nice new project Lucky!!!

Nice!! I'm glad that truck is getting a safe frame. That Camaro front end swap looked sketchy as frig.
that's going to be one nice ride when you're done.
Sketchy is scary.

Looks like a turbo 400 transmission.
I just want to know where is the old frame u took out I want it
OMG,my brother have the same problem and he keeps getting screwed here in Florida from the shops he had taking it too.
That is a good-looking truck why would anybody put that much work into it only to flake out on the frame ?
It would be really nice if you put some links in the description when you mention companys...
TheDriver454 I shoot and edit these videos on my phone but I’ll look in to it.
Thanks for watchin
That's gonna be one happy truck :)
Lighting brother maybe a good investment

Show us the sketchy stuff on the frame with the bed and cab removed...
Well, that was quick...
Can you do mine, I have a 51 Ford F3...
Great work man!
Damn it! I forgot to comment.

What day is it? Lol!! See ya soon, I will help you figure what day it is! Nice update!!
BAM!
Looks like you need a bigger shop AGAIN Lucky. 😋😋😋😋
I was thinking the same thing from that last overhead shot.
Lucky, spare us the extended unlit undercarriage shots.
What's the cost of the new frame???
Does the frame actually need some flex or why is there a only frame rail section at 3:10, why isn't it tied together on the middle?
He mentioned the bed is supposed to be the tie between frame rails, but wasn't attached properly either
Great builds lucky........no Costa door handles Lol!
how much to do all that?
funny nobody mentions prices!
lucky for President
Thats really cool.
Awesomeness!
Part 2 please?
You’re a good man Lucky
Can you tell me where to buy a similar frame, I have an Apache 58
The company is TCI. (Total cost involved)

You're gunna need a bigger garage...

If you didn’t see anything wrong I probably should have used a light.
Side note. Why are you grinding your welds ?
