I think removing the movie theater and shrinking the ice skating rink made it worse.

@@Tone213 Yes I am! Just retired for the second time. For the record, I lived across the street from Lloyd Center before I bought my first house.

We used to ride the Merry-Go_Round there. We lived on NE 22nd & Multnomah back then (1966)

When I was a kid Lloyd Center’s slogan was “It never rains at Lloyd Center,” or something similar. Funny thing is, that was the only mall where it DID rain, except in the parking structure. The mall wasn’t covered until the early 1990’s and I remember freezing and getting stuck in pouring rain in the “interior” of the mall.

It use to be just beautifully gorgeous in Oregon, with golden daffodils amongst green, green meadow lands. It's sad to see the beauty gone.

This is where Beverly Cleary based the crazy journey of Ribsy from. While Henry Huggins was in the mall with his parents, Ribsy jumped out the station wagon window and later jumped into a similar looking vehicle. He ended up near 26 & Skyline meet, but far from 30th and NE Klickitat St.....

Tracy Barry says that the Interstate Bridge was built in 1958...not quite true, The east span already existed and had for decades, but the second west span was added in 1958 to double the bridge's capacity. This was also when the "camelback" was added to the center of both spans to better facilitate river traffic.

If they can spend a “” whopping $140 million back in the 50s to build these things then we can spend 1 billion today on more infrastructure including expanded light rail all over, True affordable housing for our service industry and other low income workers, The Columbia river crossing project to create a new bridge to Vancouver with light rail etc. etc.

Nixon had a simple line to deliver about the mall and still f**ked it up.
