I've ordered mine, hope she won't take long to get to the UK 🕷🕸💜
Are you making a different spider one afterwards ?
It's just that my Pomeranian is near her end of life care and I cannot afford a plush right now .
@@GlitzyWitch i ordered Pumpkin and im in UK and it didnt take long at all to arrive. Ordered Pixie now and cant wait!!!! Gutted i missed Wednesday
Kat, I have to ask... Since the jumpers are so small, do you just give a water spritz like every couple of days for them to drink or are they getting all their fluids from their prey (as I don't think I've seen ya put water spots in any jumper enclosure)?
They are actually super cute up close. I have always brought spiders outside rather than killing them. Fastening little creatures and worth our respect. 😊
Hello jumper community. I knew nothing about JS's as pets until this past Christmas Eve when I found one crawling on my living room wall. Now when I find critters in my home it's catch and release. But being the middle of winter with an artic blast moving in all I could think of was to capture him in a mason jar.
He looks very similar to the jumpers in this video. I named him Snyder D' Spyder (I was a minority of one who thought that was a clever name.)
Anyway when I'd get off work I watched videos like this to educate myself. So after a week I spent over $40 on mealworms and a Ziila enclosure (sorry kat. Hadn't found your postings yet.) That's probably $55,000 in spider money. But Snyder seemed really happy to be out of that mason jar.
Then after watching a video came my first shock. Snyder's a girl! My girlfriend asked me how I knew but she was standing too close to the pots and pans for me to say "It's because he has a BIG BUTT!" So I told her to google it. I renamed her Christmas.
My second shock came when Christmas stopped eating. She had a voracious appetite up to that point and I thought I was doing something wrong. She built a cocoon and wouldn't come out. Yeah you guessed it-she successfully molted.
This third shocker's the doozy. Christmas has built a cocoon much bigger and thicker than the one she molted in. I'm still learning how to care for HER and now I'm gonna be a grandpa? Me and my enclosure aren't set up for slings. If she lays I don't even think I could send the babies to someone who knows what they're doing because she built the nest in a corner and it's attached at 3 different points. Spring is too far away so release to the wild is not an option.
A lot has happened in less than 2 months. HEEEELP!
what an adventure! there is a lot of good advice in these videos, & probably in forums too. Best of luck!
So did Christmas actually have slings? I thought they can't have slings if they haven't mated after molting. Maybe her eggs were infertile?
@@IllusionQueen4Eva No slings hatched much to my relief. I left the egg case intact for over 2 months before removing it,to make sure it really was infertile. Christmas was in that nest almost constantly, and though biologists claim spiders are incapable of emotion I sensed she was really bummed. I think she would have made a great mother.
I took Christmas out of her enclosure 2 or 3 times a week for play time. She would jump from hand to hand, stretching her front legs like Superman to gauge the distance. Sometimes I would punk her and move my hand away at the last second. She was left there dangling from a bungee cord like a tiny yo-yo. It amazed me how quickly she could climb up that tiny thread of silk.
One day in June I came home from work and checked on her. I couldn't find her. She was black and almost the same color as the soil at the bottom of her enclosure. It took me a few minutes before I found her body. She was still soft so she couldn't have been dead for long. I was saddened but not surprised. For weeks she stopped eating and when I came home from work she was still in the same position I left her. During rec time she didn't jump anymore.
Christmas was a cute and gentle animal. And though not gift wrapped one of the nicest holiday gifts I ever received and I miss her.
I made sure she was always fed (cracked me up when she would alligator roll a mealworm!),had water, and was free of predators. I'd like to think the last 6 months of her life were her best.
Will I seek out a replacement? No. But if another jumper happens into my apartment I'll have a nice home set up for it.
Thanks for your comment.
@@a1orski I could have sworn that I read this reply two weeks ago, but now it says it was "1 day ago"...
I'm really not that into computers so I don't know. Maybe a RUclips glitch? I hope it didn't inconvenience you. Peace.
Hobbit: Dig my Mushroom house.
Phiddi: Hold my cricket....
When you mentioned trying to find some jumpers outside I got so inexplicably excited haha!
Last summer I found a mature jumper out in the wild sitting on my trash can in the sun and brought her to some shade. She was a gorgeous orange color, but sadly I couldn’t keep her because my housemates don’t like spiders 😔
Adorbs!! I love the lemon theme! You’ve given me so much inspiration for some new enclosure decor! I literally spent 4 hours on Saturday at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, and Walmart shopping for my spiders! Glad I’m not the only one who geeks out on this stuff!
You'd be surprised about mushroom houses on the ground! I have 5 jumpers and out of the two that do have mushroom houses, they both use them!! They have a house up top and one in the mushroom house and go back and forth and then Turtle Soup (my spider) exclusively stays in the mushroom house! (you can make them from air-dry clay and acrylic paint)
12:06 awww she so precious all curled up safe and snugg in her new lil home spiders be a lot like cats, they want a small door space just big nuff for them that makes them feel safest becuase anything that could get into theyre home is no bigger than they are... ^^ if they fits they sits :3
Super cute enclosures and both spiders looked like 'Wow, this is so amazing!!!' :)
I watched Tarantula Kat instead of the SOTU speech. I'm smiling from ear to ear.
It's the little mushrooms that makes the enclosures even cuter 😊🥰
Dunno if there are yellow/black (bumblebee!) jumping spiders, but if so, they would be beyond perfect in the lemon-themed home! Guess we can just settle for regular perfect that you've done here. 😄
I already knew that, but your talent for decorating your enclosures is only increasing ! 😍 I love the mushrooms 🍄. And the one with the lemons 🍋 I love it! The jumping spiders are too cute, do they have a name Kat ? 🕷 I love the video, as always. 🖤
This is what I've been searching for!
The spider you put in the mushroom enclosure looks a lot like one that lives on my back porch actually. I thought the pattern was super interesting too, it’s almost like they have a little face on them
These little mushroom shelters look like the smurfs village.
I just got my jumping spider last week! He just today sat in my hand because I didn’t want to rush anything. I want to give him a even bigger enclosure though.❤
Looove the lemon theme!!! always adore seeing cutesy themed enclosures
I grow mushrooms so I definitely love the shroom decor !
Omg i love the lemon one its adorable I think a strawberry one would look really cute
Jumping Spiders are ridiculously adorable
SO. CUTE.
I have air plants in my jumping spiders enclosures and they are super easy to keep alive!
I've watched you throw together some super cute enclosures... you convinced me I need to make some cute stuff to use in enclosures. And I don't even have any... yet! I was one of the biggest Arachniphobes IN THE WORLD, till I took a chance on this really sweet girl with these tiny little spiders with the cutest little faces! Her page was full of them. As I watched day after day, I fell madly in love with both your tiny ones and your big ones! Sorry.. no Recluces! We'll agree to disagree about those! Lol! Thank you for being so cute and lovable and changing this old girls heart. When I get my first Jumping spider I may be asking you a LOT of questions!
Isn’t it crazy how one persons videos can open our mind to new possibilities! This is why I love RUclips. We can always learn so many new things from others. I never would have known some spiders were so cute and fun to watch
Could maybe try hollowing out one of the lemons to make a cute little hide!!
🤔 or put the stem of the lemon plant through the choya wood to make it look like the "trunk"?
But both are adorable!!!!
Spring tends to be the start of remodeling.
I absolutely LOVE your talent making these enclosures! They're sooo beautiful! 🕷💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🕷
That first one definitely looks like a hybrid of some kind. It's huge! The female P. audax in my area tend to be much smaller, and don't have much white on their faces. I caught both of mine in my house and both are/were extremely skittish and unable to be handled. I've spoken with other jumping spider keepers who say that audax tend to have a more nervous personality. Unfortunately, I have nothing to compare it to because it's the only jumping spider species I've kept.
I brought two Colorado native audax indoors for the winter and am keeping one, she’s a friendly one that handled very well! The other is getting released come spring cuz they are definitely skittish and did not handle well. So maybe 50/50 chance :P jk but now I have hope I can find more friendly ones outside.
Also look into P.otiosis, they’re a little more upkeep due to needing a higher temp and humidity than audax and regius but all the ones I’ve had handle super well and are super friendly.
Love those set ups for the jumping spiders, they look great 😸
soo sweet and lovely!! i loved them both! my first jumping spider arrives tomorrow!!
Good luck!!
I could totally see myself living in one of those.
Very beautiful. Well done as always! 💛
Love these little jumpers and their nice houses lol 💕
Great job, those are both super cute !!❤
Amazon has so many cute minis that are like only a few bucks and work so nice for jumpers!! ❤
I love the enclosures 💜 they're both really cute too 😍
That lemon-themed enclosure was AMAZING oh my god
Loooooove the lemon one !!!! So cheery and adorable!!!
I have no intentions of making any enclosures, but watching you make them, makes my soul happy 💕
So cute! 🥰
Those are ADORABLE!!!!! I love the lemon theme idea! Very cute! Beautiful jumpers! 😍🕷
Love the mushrooms. Too cute!
I am IN LOVE with the lemon enclosure!
Love all your videos 💜 omgs Tulip is such a big girl now awwwes
Omg they all came out amazing. My favorite is the lemon one. Mushrooms 🍄 are also my fav
I always love your decorations
I just love the jumping spiders. You did an amazing job with the enclosures. Absolutely adorable. So glad you including we’re you got the supplies. I’m a new tarantula owner and I did order two of the mushrooms to use as hides for them. Your videos helped inspire me to take the plunge.
Absolutely love all the creativity 🎉 I'm obsessed with arts and crafts. This fun makes my heart happy 😍
Very cute love the lemon theme😊
This vid was a whole cuteness overload!
Kat! I put fruit fly culture into a travel size shampoo bottles so I can feed my Jumping spiders alot easier! Try it it works soo amazing
Early!!! Awww The Enclosures are awesome! 😀🥰 I think shes a hybrid :)
Can't wait to watch this when I get home from work!!!

I really like those hydro balls . So, for someone afraid of spiders my whole life, I love your channel and these little jumping spiders!!! I think it’s the enclosures I’m falling for especially, they look adorable!! Just love you ! My favorite enclosure for sure so far is the lemon house !!! So stinkin cute!! Hugs !! ❤️🕷️🍄🍄🍋
Enjoy your videos on your spiders. They are cool
Great video
Oh my gosh I love the lemon 🍋 theme 😍
I know I haven’t gotten to talk to you personally yet! But thank you so much for the feature! (0:55 @espressogeckos)
I love all of your videos and I truly look up to as one of my favorite females in the hobby 🖤
Great video. Super cute enclosures and spiders. Order my plush on day one
I love the lemon 🍋 themed enclosure 🫠
I suspect most of us are messy when working around enclosures purchased a dustpan set with long handles. Of course my geckos dig and allow substrate to pile up against the glass - we can't win lol. Can we do a trade spring for fall. If not for my reptiles i would love to move closer to the arctic circle south africa is getting to hot ear on year and it just started raining it's cooler apparently you just have to complain. Enclosures are funky! Take care!
Woooohoooo my cotton candy is on patreon pets!!!!!!
I just keep a patch of substrate moist for the plant, I just use top soil and it works well. Let the rest dry out and just mist the side as normal and water the plant. Or put the plant in a small planter in there so you don't have to soak the substrate. Will keep humidity up too 🖤
Have definitely missed watching the enclosures being set up, I find it so relaxing and also great for inspo!
It's currently summer is Australia, so I'm always seeing cute little jumpers around my house, trying to convince my Aracnafobic partner to let me get a second pet jumper
Hi Kat! Love you videos ❤❤❤
Yay! Thank you!
If those two didn't have names yet I feel like Lime and Lemon could be cute!
The spider wood looked like a giraffe 🦒 lol too cute
Omg. That Pikachublob back there! 😍
Anyway, suuper cute enclosures! 🕷🍄
I don't like idles really but I find that your videos interesting that lemon enclosure was so pretty
I've got so many ideas for jumping spider enclosures! I want to just make them and sell them, but I feel like it's such a niche market that it would be hard to make it lucrative. But it would be so much fun!!!
I wish we had jumping spiders like that in New Zealand!!!! We have tiny spiders (not including the avondale spider) here unless you go deep in the bush.
I love these enclosures! Really nice job :D Finding some cute minis really help make it charming.
I love finding little pieces of spider wood and cork bark for them when at reptile shows.
As far as I know, only regius and otiosus can cross breed. But I have a hard time telling because regals have such color variety I'm not sure how to tell when they're mixed. I think they might get some iridescent sheen. Audax and regius can look so similar too.
the black and white bb, name her stripes after the frankie muniz racing stripes zebra hehehe
omg I love the mushroom addiction and now must go buy some myself. I need these in my life! Also, I'm still new to the hobby but the first spooder looks too big to just be a pure Phidippus Audaux so I do wanna say it probably is a hybrid.
I actually work at Michaels and have been seeing those lemon bushes for several years now and always wondered how someone would use them!
50 comment awesome video today kat you are the best and the greatest ever keep it up you always inspire me everyday 💯👍💪💪👍💯👍💪💪
How do you photograph them so clearly? Mine always look almost sepia.
My wild caught jumping spider looks identical to your hybrid. My reptile store has a spider guy and he said it was a hybrid too. She’s on an egg sac right now and I”m a nervous nelly. He’s going to get the babies.
yalll making new jumping spooder breeds!??!!?
lol nooo just happens naturally in the wild sometimes! Definitely against trying it in captivity bc it’d only mess everything up 😵💫
@@tarantulakat your not a fan of breeding to uplift? i can understand, but im for it, i want big brain people to use a fraction of our scientific brilliance to improve the beautiful lil animals lifes around us. ^^ im transhumanist so want improvment for humans, but i extend that to other species.
@@shardinhand1243 I’m not sure what you’re asking lol. But if you’re asking if you should breed two different species that’s a big no. That’s like breeding a donkey and a horse. They’re not breeds like cats they’re entirely different species ..
@@tarantulakat but we do breed donkey and horses... though i forget the name... i think they are viable unlike breeding lions and tigars... which is an awesome idea but we just dont have the science down yet... but some day... ever heard of spider goats? we made them and it works... crazy stuuf cheak it out m8 ^^
@@shardinhand1243 yes but if we purposely cross breed different species of tarantulas and spiders in the hobby, we will muddy the different species into all hybrids. That means we can not put back captive bred specimens back to the wild, we can not guess the venom of a species, we won’t have a Brachypelma hamorii and a Brachypelma smithi but instead a hybrid and you can’t really tell the difference so it accidently messes up the entire captive population we have. 🫠 check this out why we do not cross breed in captivity and why we are very against it: ruclips.net/video/_WANpBaDeJU/видео.html
Anyone have any suggestions for places to get decor for jumper enclosures? I've gotten stuff from the dollar store and then deep cleaned them which worked, but the dollar tree only has so much. Any other stores I can get a bunch of stuff from?
Hi! This video helped me to feel better about decorating my own enclosures. I have been keeping it very simple, because I start to plan and end up over thinking it 😂 I want my enclosure to be more fun. What size is the enclosure with the peaked roof that you ordered? It’s perfect!
Thought it read Adderall Jumping Spiders. I know jumpers are hyper but this is redic!
cute
What magnets are those?? I need some:)
Hi, I want make an artificial enclosure like yours. In your video, are you using preserved moss, or live or dried moss? If it's preserved, are you sealing it first? And if its live, won't it grow mould after a while when it's hot glued to decor? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you :)
Could you possibly link where you get your magnets please !
Do we have to seal the decor with anything to prevent mold?
Hi Kat, Where do you get the cholla wood? Thanks!
Cutr enclosures. Question. Do you seal anything in the enclosures? I was told I have to seal everything with dishwasher safe mod podge before I put it in.
Question, how do you get your jumping spiders to use the little acorns to build their hide in. I have a 3D printer and have made a small house for one but he just ignores it. He will sit on the roof but not go inside
Do you have any problems with mold when you use that substrate?
So do jumping spiders get hydration from the environment so they don't need a water dish? Do you mist the enclosure? I've only ever had tarantulas.
Have you ever thought about putting dolls or (plastic) animals in?
For jumping spiders in general l, can you keep multiple in a larger enclosure as long as there is enough food supply?
