You should glue small magnets to the door and to the glass that touches the door it migth not look good but i think its the safest way to lock tiny terrariums
That’s the reason why I love having spiders in my room! I had a daddy long legs living on the corner of a window frame, he was an awesome mosquito catcher.
Glad you found her again! I have arachnophobia but somehow I've been able to watch her most of the time she's on screen, thanks for making such calming videos and with the help with overcoming my phobia!
when you have arachnophobia, you should google for the peacock spider Maratus speciosus. they are very tiny and the male has an adorable and colourful way of courting.
jumping spiders were the only ones that didn't trigger my arachnophobia for most of my life. No clue why, but they never triggered it, but every other variety of spider did.
So glad you were able to find her!! 🕷🖤 when my rats were babies they found a small hole in the cage I didn’t think they could squeeze through and escaped. I was panicking looking around the house for them thinking they got into the walls, but ended up finding them. Their little noses were poking out from under a bookshelf 😂
Lol when I had my heart rat, Maggie escaped a few years back she found out how to open the cage. I freaked the heck out thinking she could've gotten crushed under some boxes so I called her name. Then here she comes running out from under my bed and jumps into my lap...🤣 Luckily her sister, Charlotte, was too skittish to escape so she stayed in the cage. Thank goodness 'cause I was never able to handle her. She was still sweet though :)
@@rat_dragon Haha they're more clever than they're given credit for. Haven't had rats myself but I've had a few guinea pigs that I refered to as clumsy rats... they were quite clever though and always teaching each other.
We used to keep rats and they are amazingly intelligent and social creatures. We never had any get loose, but they had free reign over the house when we were home. They pretty much followed us like a dog would. On occasion they'd go play in another room, but would come running if called. They are criminally underrated animals!
I had 3 rats when I was in middle school. One time one of them escaped. She had found her way into a bin with craft paper in it and had decided to make herself a nest.
It says a lot about a person's kindness when they have the compassion to care for and provide for a little creature that they know cannot return that compassion by its nature.
I'm reminded of when I managed a small pet store. We had a lovely Chilean Rose tarantula in a 10 gallon enclosure and next door was a newly purchased Emperor scorpion. Obviously we hadn't secured the lids correctly, as one morning I came in to find the tarantula in the scorpion's enclosure and the remains of the scorpion told the rest of the story. Tarantulas -1, Scorpions-0
I just watched Disney’s Jungle Cruise and there’s a scene where the bad guys stage a tarantula vs scorpion fight similar to cock fights. They cut away before showing who won, but I guessed it would’ve been the tarantula.
mad proud of you, you honestly deserved it years ago in my opinion, I have 3 terrariums a desk waterfall, a turtle, 1 fish tank and 1 vivarium just from watching you 😆
I found a cute spider in my sink this morning. They are after water. I provided some nonchlorinated water and a paper towel ramp for when she’s done. I have also kept spiders before, fed them crickets and wax worms. But there is nothing to do when the years take their toll. And the passing takes weeks. You try to help in every way and it is anguish. Enjoy her for a time, but find a season to release her so she can fulfill her spidery purpose. Thank you for giving her your love, safe haven, and a healthy start in life.
Since jumping spiders are also called Salticidae's, I think Salti would be a great name! It works so well considering she was so salty that you didn't feed her in time. Glad you were able to find her though, she's adorable.
Name her Milli since you found her right around the time you reached a million subs and also the name Miliani which it could be short for means gentle caress in Hawaiian and that's kind of fitting since she's so smol & fragile!

I still think you should get a tarantula! They are a new ball game compared to jumpers but really worth it to keep. Although definitely use magnets or some strong locking mechanism because they can escape and can “chew” through mesh if their environment doesn’t meet their needs. Still, they are amazing pets! I personally recommend Grammostola pulchra because they are gorgeous and called the “black labs” of the tarantula world because of their docile nature (mine definitely lives up to this title). Great video Tanner. Had a smile on my face the entire time I watched it. I love the happy ending. Congrats on the milestone and can't wait until you give us an update on this spider. I never thought of keeping a common spider as a pet, but you inspired me to think/plan on building an enclosure like yours for the future.
Are you sure it's female? If do, then Dorothy Dietrich (The Female Houdini, as suggested many times), would be perfect. As also suggested, that could be shortened to "Dot" as she's so tiny. And bonus, if it is actually male, then Dot still works. 🕷️ Congratulations on the one million subscribers, Tanner. I have a two year old corn snake with a similar story. He was gone for two months and the day after Christmas, I was gonna get a new one but the person working at the pet store suggested I keep looking and don't give up hope, so I went home and was told to look near water. First of all, congrats on 1 million!!! You absolutely deserve it. And secondly, I loved loved loved this video! I've kept jumping spiders on and off for many years and I have a tarantula that I got as a super tiny sling 11 years ago. Thanks for the awesome content. I recommend your channel to everyone I can!
Glad you were able to find her- my question is there's still quite a gap at the top of the door on her new enclosure - would she not be able to crawl out of there? I've noticed a few jumping spiders in my house here and there and I always put them outside, but I'm inspired to try and build something now for one!
I grew up with jumping spiders living on my window sills in my bedroom. I just coexisted with them, and would often wake up in the morning to find one clinging to the edge of my lampshade on my nightstand. I also had at least one as a permanent resident in my bathroom. It never occurred to me to see them as an intruder. They were always just there. I never really thought about them until now. Thank you for this video!

I feel like Susanna is a good name for her. No rhyme or reason, she just feels like one lol. I'm really glad you found her. She s such a beautiful spider, such wonderful colors! 😍
I laughed, I cried. =) The re-enactment with the puppets was hilarious. Glad you got DD back and her new home looks positively palatial compared to her old digs. great video, love the takedown. like the fact you show them exploring the enclosure as i think there is often very little of this shown in videos. Glad she returned.
You inspired me to do my own jumping spider enclosure!! My preschoolers named our bold jumper Lucas. They love watching him hunt! Thanks Tanner💚💚 I'd say name her Sophie or Matilda!!
As a spider keeper i can tell you that wont be the first time she escapes, mine escape all the time. I had one slip out of the lid somehow while i was putting food into the enclosure and i didnt notice he wasnt in there till the next day
Txs for the video, I loved the intro back story was fun. Im here cuz I got a son that loves reptiles and such and I'm always doing research on how to best take care of animals, I'm impressed of your beautiful room filled with terrariums and tanks, is all well maintained, I don't like spiders but my God I was absolutely surprised how beautiful this little jumping spider is, I'm so inlove with it I might keep one myself and help my other girls to loose their fear of spiders. Txs to your video we will be up to set up a home for this beautiful animals. Also shout out to your wife for supporting your hobby! ✌️
I’d fill in some of those spaces where you can light coming through just for future reference. Spiders are amazing escape artist. I recommend you check out tarantula cribs to get a good idea of best enclosures for spiders.
I'd name her Verdi myself! After one of my favorite childhood books and for those emerald fangs of hers 💚 You've more than earned that 1 million and here's to more finding and learning from you!
I hope this won’t sound mean but I didn’t know you barely had 1 mil subs. You deserve so much more. Your videos are great from both the content and your personality. Love watching them.
Glad the spider came back and hope she loves her new home. I have to say I love your channel and the subscribers to it. I randomly met some of them at a local Lowes when we where both shopping for terrarium/vivarium supplies. :)
👍😎 Big congrats on the million. The reinactment was funny. Maybe Parker as a name, jumping spider - Spider-Man, just an idea. So much talent Tanner. Always enjoy. 🖖
My biggest jumper escaped today when I added him to his new, finished terrarium and forgot to seal the cable holes before going on an errand with my dad, and when we got back and I went to show him the spider, he was gone. I ripped off the wood pieces and then I noticed the gaping, unsealed holes on the back of the tank. We looked under chairs and then i began to follow the web with a flashlight. No luck. Then something whispered in my ear to check behind my coffee bar, and I looked down behind the armoire from the ground up, slowly scanning. Just as I began to lose hope, I got to the very top of the armoire, where I have a large baby photo leaning against the wall, and wouldn't you know it there's 2 glowing green chalicerae and beady eyes staring back at me. Lol I was so happy to find him because we have a cat and it ciuld have been so bad. Thank goodness we found him.
I did the exact same thing with my Rosie Boa a year or two ago. It was a nightmare we were terrified we would sit on her in the couch or something. But sure enough we found her right by my desk all snuggled up in the crack. So glad she and your spider are safe! And your snake for that matter
I enjoy your videos overall but I really love the two you've made about your little jumping spider. She's so cute! (and I am NOT a spider person). Please continue to make these occasionally :)
Congrats on 1 mil! I have a jumping spider in the corner above my sink. Thinking about making a enclosure to fit between the cupboards above the window..... That will take some planning.
I could not believe she escaped, but I guess there's a first (and hopefully last) time for it. What would you name this jumping spider? Let me know 👇

Well done on 1million. Really creative inspiring an humorous
How about Esmeralda?
Congrats on the 1 million! WELL deserved!
Aw such a cute video! Glad the spider has a new home.
I’d fill in some of those spaces where you can light coming through just for future reference. Spiders are amazing escape artist. I recommend you check out tarantula cribs to get a good idea of best enclosures for spiders.
So glad you found her. Nice upgrade.
tanner, afterbeing here for so long, enjoying videos, WE HAVE REACHED 1 MIL
I'd name her Verdi myself! After one of my favorite childhood books and for those emerald fangs of hers 💚
You've more than earned that 1 million and here's to more finding and learning from you!
Beautiful new enclosure!
OMG, look at the 2 iridescent green chelicerae!!! It's so cute~~~
Your videos always bring me so much joy!! The beginning "dramatic reenactment" was perfect 🤣🤣
Congrats on one million! I like the name Charlotte.
I have tons of experience with lost jumping spiders.
Keep the eye on the ceiling. These spiders always try to climb high.
Love the new enclosure!!
Congrats on 1 mil! I have a jumping spider in the corner above my sink. Thinking about making a enclosure to fit between the cupboards above the window..... That will take some planning.
