One of her very best vocal performances on record. Incredible live, as well. This is the the first song I heard her sing live when she opened the show at Forest Hills stadium in New York August 1978. I was 15 . It remains one of the most thrilling moments of my life!
How lucky were you! When people like you mention specific concerts, I look up the set playlist. Wow! No wonder you were thrilled. Wish this concert had been filmed.
Linda is the Real Deal more times than not her Live performances were as good or better than the studio version of a song, she could take you places with a song like no other artist. Always the best of the best the ultimate crossover artist. Love the Music!!
I love the harmonies in this song from Waddy and Kenny and the pedal steel guitar solo by Dan is great but Linda's voice and the blue dress steal the show!
For many others of this same vintage, the late 1970s yielded a mountainous volume of memorable songs and artists that were equally underrated, unheralded, and missed in the blur of that era. An era that couldn’t help but seemingly gush out some of the best musicians, vocal talents, and songwriters, all at once. Unlikely to be matched again in that simultaneous alignment. The output from new bands, performers, and songwriters recording and touring was so high, it was virtually impossible to catch it all. No matter how feverish a fan or recording agent you were. Overlay the still evolving and “experimenting” drug culture of the late 1970s, for better and worse, and it’s easy to understand how so much fell through the cracks. This great Lowell George song shows the depth of talent and torment that was part of many lives from those heady times. It still is. Ernesto, I get goosebumps at that exact same spot. Her voice is amazing and she is a true legend. No other female singer comes close to the magic, power & talent that is Linda.
That's what brought me here this morning (05-14-19). It popped up on my iTunes playlist and I had to slide it back to that part because I was suddenly engaged in defensive driving maneuvers! I just wish they'd shown the syn drums making their "pooo-pooo" sounds!
1978 tour.......my favorite song off of "Living in the USA" and I think, one of the best songs she ever did. Great vocal on this track. Check it out. This live version is very good too.
I've been down, but not like this before Can't be 'round this kind of show no more All, all that you dream Comes through shinin silver lining Clouds, clouds change the scene Rain starts washing all these cautions Right into your life, makes you realize Just what is true, what else can you do You just follow the rule Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you I've been down, but not like this before Can't be 'round this kind of show no more All of the good, good times were ours In the land of milk and honey And time, time adds its scars Rainy days they turn to sunny ones Livin' the life, livin' the life lovin' everyone I've been down, but not like this before Can't be 'round this kind of show no more I've been down, but not like this before Can't be 'round this kind of show no more I've been down, but not like this before
@@happygayconservative4737 It looked like she kind of regretted the tight collar decision, though (lol)! (Tugs, tries to unbutton, tugs again: "Get this motherfuc thing... off of) All of the good time were ours, in the land of milk and honey..."
I always appreciated Linda incorporating pedal steel guitar in songs. And I think Dan Dougmore was the most talented pedal steel guitarist who performed with her, imo

In the Rolling Stone review of this album (which they didn't love, big surprise), they said on this track she "obliterated the original". This and "Allison"were the two tracks they like.
@Drillin4Oil I totally agree. Her voice didn't sound quite as good before, or after this! She came close during the Mariachi performances - saw her live in '87 and she blew me away.
Can't wait to see her next week in NYC for her book signing!!! Thanks for posting these vids! ...you have a great collection of her doing what she did best! :)))
Linda Ronstadt was the greatest female vocalist of her generation. There! I said it! 😍
Man, that girl could sing. Clear and unadorned.
J'adore cette chanson, et magnifique interprétation et magnifique album 😜🎶🎤👍
The pipes... she made any song all her own.
One of her very best vocal performances on record. Incredible live, as well. This is the the first song I heard her sing live when she opened the show at Forest Hills stadium in New York August 1978. I was 15 . It remains one of the most thrilling moments of my life!

Yes, one of her best uptempo, gritty vocal performances (on record). This live performance is good but she seems a bit bored.
Chilling vocals - in a good way

A Linda deep cut live. This should be on a soundtrack. Little Feat was divine when she wrapped those pipes around their tunes.
I love Little Feat,..but damn,..Linda Ronstadt and her band is friggin amazing here !
I love the harmonies in this song from Waddy and Kenny and the pedal steel guitar solo by Dan is great but Linda's voice and the blue dress steal the show!
Just found this in 2021, what a treasure. Damn she was fine, in every way!
A perfectionist to the nth degree, Linda was magnificence in action.
She was the best! No one could do a live show to perfection like her.
What a joy! This sounds like an instant Linda classic, so few know of this "little feat" Jem of old
Grent rendition of Lowell George's (Little Feat) original which Linda also did backing vocals with. My late Parents just adored Little Feet..
She could croon, belt and shout all in one song. With no apparent effort.
Exactly. Never quite sure where her voice is going to go next, but I'm never disappointed.
Thank you for posting.
Belting is shouting
Linda and her band were at the top of their game on this great Lowell George song. Linda looked stunning as well.
Whew, that was mesmerizing! Linda was a vocal powerhouse. Nothing else on earth quite like Ronstadt - when she's nailing it.
sweetest lady in the world with good taste in music ,
I don't understand why this song was never released as a top 40 hit single. This song rocked back in 1978/1979.
It ALSO rocked when Lowell & the Feats released the original...all the way to it's inclusion during the final scene of the Sopranos‼️

Perfection
This was the opening number when I saw her at the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, Ca
I too was at that show. I was witness to her shooting cover art for her Living In The USA album.
So happy I got to see her at the Forum.
would somebody upload this whole show? her vocals are really amazing here, not to mention that she really looks terrific at this time.
Greatest Female Rocker..no one close!
Passionate power. Much more than her hits. Seeing and hearing her in concert was very special.
She sang a lot of great stuff, but I have a soft spot for this song. Great live version. 2:41 goosebumps!

Omg, I have gotten versions of goosebumps in the same spot for about 40 years now. I love Linda but this my favorite of hers.
Linda made this tune important - especially live. Glorious singer fine band,
VOICE IMMACULATE
Linda's voice was never slicker than here. It's like slapping fudge on the slate. Her best singing ever, I think.
Nice live version. My favorite song from it's album Living in the USA. Plus, she looks great here. ;-)
1978 tour.......my favorite song off of "Living in the USA" and I think, one of the best songs she ever did. Great vocal on this track. Check it out. This live version is very good too.
She's always been amazing and does a fantastic job on this song.
Patty Lyons This and Blue Bayou are my favorites
She is all you need - great, flexible, raw singer. Grab the mike and let go.
One of the greatest of all....Bless Linda..
I saw Paul Barriere once and he said he wrote this song after his break up with Bonnie Raitt-poetic stuff. her voice here is right on the money
CRYSTAL clear persuasion. Something about Linda and Little Feat.
I've been down, but not like this before

All, all that you dream
Comes through shinin silver lining
Clouds, clouds change the scene

Just what is true, what else can you do
You just follow the rule
Keep your eyes on the road that's ahead of you

Forrest your dad was a true genius.
Our band covered her version. Luckily we had an amazing singer and band. It's a good memory.
This rocks....
Great song & she looks & sounds great! Let's get her into the rock & roll hall of fame ya think?
2014
Awesome song!
One of my favorite songs buy her ...... and dig that dress! ;-)
Nessus07
I think this is a show in Japan which would explain that style dress.

Saw this tour. I always remember what she was wearing..lol
I can't belive Linda chose a song by Lowel Goerge about what killed him. I didn't think it would be familiar to her. Killer tune.
WHAT PIPES !!!!!
bigbadnad that was my first thought!!

That "someone" didn't know what they were talking or writing about.
She's not in the Millennials' 'Cool Kids Club' I'm afraid. They've basically "cancelled" her.
That's funny because those lists IN the 70s had her at the top of lists..lol
In the Rolling Stone review of this album (which they didn't love, big surprise), they said on this track she "obliterated the original". This and "Allison"were the two tracks they like.
The pedal steel on this tune is exceptionally tasty.
elainezfw only now I realize it -on the record I thought they were keyboards.
dan dugmore?
@@pattimartin7250 Definitely Dugmore!!
Wow!!! That would raise Lowell up out of the ground!!
this is great thanks

Thanks for that--loved it!
Me second favorite Feat tune!
This is great, but check out her live version of this on the Little Feat album "Hoy Hoy". Its even better, IMHO.
Can't wait to see her next week in NYC for her book signing!!! Thanks for posting these vids! ...you have a great collection of her doing what she did best! :)))
Did you make it, Doreen? What do you remember from the experience?
Are you Coca Crystal from ManhattanCable?
Man!! I have been waiting for this song/vid for so long now!! Thanks jpspanisfan3!!
A cheer for Mr Lowell George.
Lowell would approve
Devil with a blue dress on ... daaaaaaaamnnnn
Bill Payne & Paul Barrere....
Waddy Wachtel on guitar there...
RIP Tony
Ah, thanks for sharing...LOL! I seriously doubt that you were the only one! ;)
Waddy!
Hey jpspanishfan3 do you have any other videos from Summit 78?
do you have the whole show? any way to get a dvd-r copy?
She seems don't like the Cheongsam!
Not a good choice for her. More suitable for Bonnie Raitt. But still the best of the best!
Waddy!
