Baron Ranch Trail near Santa Barbara - Loads of Goats

- I decided to explore the Baron Ranch loop trail again this morning. It seems that parts of the trail have been rerouted a bit. I ran into some goats or sheep and two sheepdogs early on. There seemed to be a bit of trail maintenance happening along the upper loop. I noticed a bunch of bees up there too. I also stopped by an abandoned structure, which was neat.
This trail is less frequented compared to many of the front country trails in the Santa Barbara area, but it's really a beautiful spot. Next time I'm out here, I may go up to Camino Cielo from Baron Ranch if I have time. This one was more of a quick excursion. I think the Camino Cielo route adds ~6-7 miles and could be a tad overgrown depending on use (or lack there of).
Oh yeah, I ate some elderberries and fennel, which both tasted great!
FYI, The goats were at Baron Ranch to reduce fuel as a fire prevention measure. The trail will be closed on 07/13/24 for one day when the goats will be moved to another location.
That makes sense! I was surprised to see them. It's nice that measures are being taken to mitigate fire risk.
Good
