I think its not just a volume increase that can trick our brains, but the color to black & white visual change when its turned off/on can have a similar effect on our perception of the sound. You should maybe consider not having the screen do or say anything visually when it's A/B tested. Or maybe do it bind first, then show visual with effects when its turned off and on.
it is not working. >:(
@@m.blatter7044 The coupon code unfortunately doesn't work for items that are currently on sale. But it should work for everything else! Hope that helps.
Game Changer..Your Channel Had The Best Analysis Of This Plug
I try to go deeper and be a little more methodical with my testing and reviews than the other channels out there. Glad it was worth the effort!
Bogren Digital has been super impressive with these releases.
Agreed. On another level I think!
Your Videos are great Bobby, learn a Lot from you!
Great analysis, really enjoy seeing seeing the spectrograms come out for the nitty gritty details!
I have used the Celestion DSR (Dynamic Speaker Response) and it is similar. I have compared it to having an extra Compressor and EQ section, but being right in the Amp Sim here is great.
I think the concern of whether it is some grand new thing is not as important. It sounds good and has good workflow UX. That is the end goal!
Thanks! Bought it just for the IRDX thingy. It sounds more realistic, even on my existing high quality IRs. Reminds me of speaker drive in UAD OX.
Finally some deep analysis! Thank YOU. I would have loved to see a null test between IRDX on and off.
Great point! I did a LOT of null tests with this. Like over 10. They don't come close to a null, which made it really hard to understand what was happening. Because I couldn't draw any conclusions from it, I left it out. I think it's safe to say that a LOT is changing with the IRDX tech...
But the null tests revealed that there are changes to the rendering behavior that aren't discussed in the manual at all (automatically goes into some "super ultra high quality mode" during rendering which I think is a good thing.
Thanks for the demo Mike. I found this to be very good indeed, all the controls were very responsive, also it does quiet very well, and it sounded great straight out of the box, which is something that does not usually happen to me. For the price I think it competes very well in the market and is a fair deal. There is no doubt that plugins now are stepping up to the next level.
I think it is subtle but perceivable to my ears. And I have to agree that it seems to add a third dimension to the guitar. Fantastic contact I love all the analysis.
I think not only a volume increase that can trick our brains, but the color/black & white visual change when its turned off/on can do a similar thing. It should just not do or say anything visually when it's A/B tested. Or maybe do it bind first, then show visual with effects when its turned off and on.
sounds like a beast!
Got it a few days ago.. amazing amp sim.
I played every amp sim for a month (demos) and decided to buy the MLC SubZero. For me this one sounded the best plugged into a power amp with a green back cab, sounds and feels like a real amp, very reactive to picking.
This is the sound we want.
Would love to see your bass guitar chain! Sounds massive!
Great job with the review!!⚡️🦍⚡️
Thanks so much!
yEAH, I'm using the cabinet part with other impulse responses and guitar emulators. Seems a game changer indeed.
awesome amp
Totally agree. This one is a winner.
It has a 3D feel to it to me when I compare it to most other virtual amps, and I really like that. However, I didn't hear much difference in your balanced test with the IRDX on and off. Curious. Informative video!
***Good video***
ive been hearing about this alot lately
I love this sim and bought is straight away but I am a sucker for BD products. The only thing that doesn't knock me out are the integrated FX. Real Vanilla imho but still very useful, no doubt. Hoping the IRDX will work with 3rd party IRs in the future
I'm still playing with all the features, back to back testing it against Amplitube 5 max
I wish you would have put the spectrum analyzer on the just the cab (like with the amp alone) and then turned RDX off and on.
Wondering, what tuning is this song in?
I wouldnt say its a new idea. Mercurial did this with a marshall cab around a decade back and it sounded pretty incredible back then compared to IRs.
I think that might have been what's called "white box" modeling. That is a little bit different than this which is "blackbox" using ML.
What was the software called? I'll check it out.
Props for being super transparent about not being paid for the review. Most creators leave out *just* enough information in their disclaimer to leave you wondering if they were actually paid or not.
Good to hear this! I haven't done this in the past, and a good friend suggested I mention it because I'm "always excited" about my reviews. But that is because if I don't like the plugin, I just don't do the review haha! I don't believe in talking down on someone's hard work. Thanks for watching!
Is there any way to use it live, to change presets with a MIDI controller? I haven't been able to find any solution that would make this possible...
I have a serial number for this purchased from JRR shop. How do I register it pls?
It looks & sounds like a Lite version of STL Amphub
So you can bypass the amp and the cab , load other amps and irs and still use the irdx thing ? Thats game changer man .. also i ve noticed that this amp is no hissy at all man, so clean it almost doesn't need any eq , sounds great
Not sure.. I've only had it a few days.. I'll test it out and let you know
@@aaronedmunds5685 thank you!
@@constantinranis hey dude, just tested it out.. it works, but your IR's must be loaded in the subzero cab.. you can't use a seperate IR loader.
@@aaronedmunds5685 that's awesome man , that means you can use your sub zero just like an IR loader if you want . That's nice man , thanks for taking the time
@@constantinranis exactly.. anytime mate
How does it compare to the BDH III or other ampknob sounds??
They are all great sounding. I personally love the one knob versions because they just seem to work for my mixes and are so fast!
@RaytownProductions Sweet. Awesome analysis, will be watching more.
Isn't this the same tech that Celestion has shown with their DSRs?
It's probably similar! But every approach and training sets used to train the ML algorithm will likely be very different and produce different results.
i deleted it after 30 minutes it wouldnt stop feeding back on the hi gain presets shame couldnt get it in line for some strange reason!
weird! I have never heard any feedback from this. Was this happening on the stand alone version of the plugin?
standalone version yeah its also on my gojira and laboga mr hecter all standalones@@RaytownProductions
Once you matched the gain with IRDX on/off, even with it set to 150%, I don't think this makes much of a difference in a full mix. No one would be able to pass a blind test at 100%. With the track solo'd, I'm not sure what you're doing to make that guitar stereo, but I thought the phase was unacceptable and even sounded gimmicky. But maybe it was something you were doing?? I'd be interested to hear it with double-tracked guitar without any phasey effects if in fact that's what you had going on.
You read my mind. Hearing it in solo was good and then I couldn’t tell the difference in a mix and even thought it was causing some phasing. Hmm. I don’t know what to make of it.
It was a double tracked guitar. They were just panned left and right and sent to a group with the plugin operating in stereo. Blame the really good guitar player for getting his takes so close that they sound phasey! 😂
@@RaytownProductions Haha, great. Yeah, I am not a skeptic nor being negative at all so I hope it didn’t come out that way.
It’s just that in isolation, the technology sounded more dynamic and noticeable and then it didn’t have that same magic in the mix which was surprising. I will listen again with better headphones.
You know it best (I haven’t bought it, yet), do you like it as much or more than, say, Axe Fx 3, Neural Petrucci, traditional cab and mic, etc.? when both playing just guitar and also recording and mixing. I value your input. Thanks!
@@meungawa didn't come off as negative at all :) I appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion with me!
I totally agree, when you level match and play it back in the full mix, it is less noticeable. It can get tricky when comparing it to other products out there. Personally for me, this product just has a vibe/feel that I really like. That is the dynamics and that "lunging" back and forth thing I was describing in the video. To me, the amp sim just sounds like a finished tone right out the gate. I don't have to do a lot to make it fit in a mix. I would take that kind of workflow over a 10% better guitar tone any day.
Do I think this is the end all be all guitar amp sim? Time will tell! I think there is definitely a place for those other guitar amp sims you mentioned, but ultimately it comes down to doing level matched blind shootouts between them and finding the right plugin or amp/mic that resonances with your vision for the song. Hope that helps at least a tiny bit. Cheers!
@@RaytownProductions Those are fantastic, useful, and inspiring responses. Thank you!
Discount code is not working. Hmmm? Can you simulate the payment as well for me... thanks. hhaha! Nice review.
I'm an idiot. It's already on sale, hence the (sale items excluded) part. Carry on. Just a dumb dumb typing aimlessly.
Lol all good man! Sorry it didn't work for ya, but keep it for next time you want something not on sale 🙂🤘
goddamnit did this release messed up your hair!
😂😂
i dont get the reason why people so crazy about this plugin? nothing special
There is no difference. Do a blind test!
I did a bunch of null tests and there is absolutely a difference (sorry I didn't show that in the video)... It's just less noticeable when you level match the IRDX tech. I'll have to take your suggestion and do a blind shootout to see if I can pick it out with 95% confidence.
Orrrrrr, mic your amp? If a band and a producer cannot simply mic drums and cabinets and make them sound kick ass in a mix, then I think both should be looking at other careers. I mean wtf are we talking about here?!?
IRDX can't tell
Interesting! Thanks for sharing 😊
