There's a lost scene where Michael Corleone blows up Fabrizio with a shotgun but they decided to blow up Fabrizio's car instead (with him in it, of course).
The scene has never been seen. It's locked away somewhere.

Bruno Kirby was absolutely amazing as young Clemenza. He channeled Richard Castellano with his mannerisms and his voice. So so good.
He nailed that role!!

This should've been in the movie. Heavily name-dropping Meyer Lansky's original surname and Arnold Rothstein, who mentored Lucky Luciano and others who founded modern organized crime, is such a treat to see in a Godfather movie.

If they did that I’d definitely dip in a buy them again. Godfather III is perhaps the only film in the trilogy that benefited the most from it’s cuts when it was re-edited.

Not jewish enough I'd imagine. Herman was supposed to be a jew. The last name is polish and he could be mistaken for same. Roth or Roth stein is unmistakable jewish. It dilutes and confuses the characters' ethnicity. A lot of these movies work on stereotypes.

About $80 but I watched the 3 of them and dont remember this scene. I think there was the release bundle and a remastered one.

Best way to watch the first two movies is by watching the Godfather Saga. Rearranges the scenes so they are in order, and adds scenes like this to better develop the story. HBO released the Saga back in the 90s, then rereleased it around 2014.
Also, I miss Bruno Kirby. He wad a great actor.

I've done this before, watching the scenes from all 3 films in chronological order, all in 1 sitting. Part III was still hard to get through.
I'm not sure the Sagas are available on DVD.
They cut this because the cigar hanging out and counting of the money in the open go against how they portray him elsewhere in the movie.

In all honesty I was somewhat bored throughout the rest of the movie but alert for young Vito. Robert De Niro really did well with the voice, language, and even mannerisms of an older Vito Corleone.

I watch the trilogy once every year and I haven’t seen this? “What dada madda with you!” My life has been a lie.
I can see why they left it out. Rothstein was ruthless as a man this kid is scruffy has nothing you can’t connect the two different eras. Better to leave the mystery than to give too much information that might affect the idea of the supreme power the adult character had. With Vito you have screen-time to show the development but with hyman Roth you don’t do better to cut the scene.

When he said - Arnold Rothstein I started crying. This is my favorite scence from the Godfather and it was cut out.. just to make H.R. (based on Mayer Lansky) more of a mistery. They even copied Mayers famous line "We're bigger then US Steel" that FBI tape wires recorded.. He's Michaels only enemy I love and understand. He wanted to awenge his childhood friend Moe Green IRL Benny Siegel of course..
The tv movie version added all the deleted scenes in godfather 1 will never forget it because my dad recorded on his VCR tape
If DeNiro didn't win an Oscar for this movie, he should have. The journey from a parentless and penniless immigrant working in a grocery store to the Godfather. Incredible.

Young Clemenza talking English is weird- glad it was deleted 😅. Here’s a tidbit to look for: When the Don calls the meeting of the 5 families after Bruno Tatalglia and Santino are killed Hyman Roth is seated at the table

Don vito was so powerful that he changes people's names.
Others may have doubted, or underestimated Clemennza, but Vito trusted his judgment and his loyalty.

Back then when the studios get involved they don't like long movies. Read the book. It's really really good. Goes way more in depth with all the characters. Fontane, everyone.

Growing up, I was made fun of for being bony. I was also made fun of for having a scar on my face. I Scar-Bony, put them together. I called myself Scarboni.
The godfather movies are only ones were the deleted scenes are just as good and didn’t need to be cut at all
I can see many reasons that this scene was deleted not least of all because it cast clemenza as an almost weak character where he was anything but.
He appeared to be almost afraid of Vito Corleone. Pete Clemenza respected Vito but was never afraid of him.
I think it has less to do with clemenza being afraid of him. I think it took time for clemenza to be accustomed to Vito being godfather, after all, when clemenza brought Vito into organized crime 😊
Did you hear that the reason Richard Castellano wasn't in the sequel was because he was wanted to change his own dialogue.. Coppola wasn't having that.
