      A good tip I really like to use is body flow with the basketball. Basically think your body as a hose going straight up and the end of the hose pointing at a target. You wanna keep the ball going up, basically what I'm trying to say is that the ball is like going up following your body like it would go through you and your fingers push the ball once the ball goes through your body. Not really through your body but just tracing it up

    Sean, can you cover elbow snap during shooting. I think elbow snap is essential for soft hand release. Also, elbow snap creates more force to shoot long distance shots, compared to wrist snap. I think, Steph does elbow snap along with force from shoulder to shoot half courts and beyond, like a boxer.

    Hey, when you talk about the "excessive backward problem" around 7:45, I just wanted to let you,know that the clip of the guy shooting makes it look like he's leaning back, but in reality, his lower body is moving forward. If you look closely, his upper body does not actually move backward. This is a natural occurrence as shooting a jumpshot, in which you release in midair, is very demanding on the body and your lower body will naturally sweep forward for some extra power to make the shot easier. I used to think I had this problem as well until I realized it was just an illusion. Great video though!

    • @chrissmi

    Scientifically speaking the higher the arc the higher percentage of the shot going in, so the sway or the “backwards shooting” help release tension from shoulders and gives u a higher arc, best shooters nba are doing it

    • @shashankbj3804
      @shashankbj3804 3 года назад

      But it is bound to reduce your control over the ball (but ofc subjected to where your palm is on the ball before release). The point he was trying to put forward is that there is loss of momentum you can transfer to the ball if you sway. You can avoid this and achieve the same arc with minor adjustments.

    • @paulgeorge9228
      @paulgeorge9228 Год назад

      the higher arch only helps as u r close to basket, past halfcourt ur arc dsnt matter much

    For some reason i either shoot my ball really week and idk why, it’s like sometimes the ball slips from my hand too early, other times i only throw it with the wrist, so most of the time when shooting from a 3 pointer it doesn’t even reach the hoop, but when it does, it goes to the side :P

      I think it's better to work on quick release once you master your form. Since there will be defenders pressuring you in game, you don't have all the time in the world to do a slow release.
