- Charge $200/hr for drone photography like me doing some actual marketing and promotional work beyond the lame repetitive advice people always give about emailing and calling. Even if you are selling drone photos that aren't great (like me back when I made this) you will still get work because you are RELEVANT to what your clients want.
Also here's a RUclips thank you heart.exe
$50 OFF my Drone Photo Course:

I sell drone photography and sell drone footage often just because it relates to what people jive with in my city because I live here, not because its the worlds best. You can do the same thing.
I know that the color is good in some and bad in other shots, I had a monitor with off gamma/saturation while I traveled and was too lazy to fix it all.
I'll follow this up with a video on what types of photos work for those freebies or handouts you want to create to promote with. These are panorama photos, edited in lightroom and shot using RAW - but I'll get into that next time. Кино
"It's really easy to make friends when you are bringing something to their life instead of trying to take it away."
You went from photographer to philosopher there in a serious way. Awesome advice for everything in life. Great video!
lots of people will want to be your "friend" if you have something to offer them

Comic genius right here! xD

Actual LOL.
I wish that's how all youtubers talked, I'd have so much more free time...
ikr people are complaining about his speed talking, but I usually have to bump videos up to 1.25 or 1.5. Some people I've gone all the way to 2.0!
the channels name is QuickAssTutorials for a reason lol
I think he was born a Salarian
If only food recipes were handled like this...
@@dalegreer3095 it's not just speed, it's also that people often dont know how to express their thoughts concisely and end up going in circles saying the same damn thing over and over and over.

You. Are. The. Man. I really enjoy your tutorials and the straightforwardness. Keep it up man!
This teaching never gets old.... Watched it 2 yrs ago. Then was scammed of my drone trying to sell it. And here I am with another drone and this tutoring is like new to me and refreshing
you just compacted what people would talk about for an hour on a webinar into 8 minutes! Love the efficiency and amazing value. Keep up the great work and thanks for the tips!
“People go nuts for sunsets” I died at that!
Faith plus one
I emailed my first business partner with the title promo for promo at the top of the email. Of course it came out as promo for porno on auto correct! They responded back with a "Nice ice breaker!" 😂
Hahaha! love it
Doh..!

LMAO
bahaha
Lots of people joking/moaning about the speed. I think it’s ace, no filler or banging on for the sake of it! Straight to the point. Keep up the quality work 👍
thanks! I used to have a very niche following. It's called QuickAssTutorials no ModeratlyPacedAssTutorials. If a video gets popular though, more casual watchers come in to complain
Great tips Alex, thanks! Another couple of ideas to try for promotion, some local TV stations will take submissions for "photo of the day" segments which usually air during the weather forecast. Also local government agencies may need a nice pic for their websites and print material. You won't get paid for this type of thing but it gets your name noticed. I recently had an image printed in a yearly calendar that my local representative sends out to his constituents.
You are SOOO right. From one pro photog to another, you offer great advice and I like your "no bull approach"
I literally just got a drone and people are already asking me to take shots for them and I can barely fly the thing 😂 this was super helpful though.
where can i see your work? :)
treyway 69 it’s not that great but there’s some on my channel I’ve only got one drone video up right now cause of quarantine
Me too I just got the mini drone and I want to start a business

Thanks for sharing and putting the time to shine a light on this very sensitive topic: how to transition from hobby to money.
I love you for doing this, man. Keeping it real! - Also I am glad you are putting more effort into your youtube presence (like taking the time to show yourself in the video).
Thanks dude its more effort but I figure it helps because I don't always have footage for the talking parts haha
@@QuickAssTutorials I can’t even keep my camera on during class wtf
1:13 he nailed it "cause it doesn't take that long to listen to all this" my dude, your pronunciation is impeccable for the speed you talk, most people speaking that fast would be chewing on their tongue but you make the information so clear and so quickly, great stuff
I tend to do that too in German and usually I speak quite clearly but I often get comments like "I can't process all that information in that short amount of time that you needed to articulate it", lol.
Have you listened to my relaxing piano music "Sara" yet?

You'd sometimes catch glimpses of Mont Blanc both from the train and the road (they were, as you'll know) fairly close together at various points along there!
seriously need more content like this on youtube. Not a minute was waited and this was always straight to the point. Thank you!!!!
I think the best point raised is to make friends with the people that have a bussines interrest in your work and basically just to help each other. Very nice advice.

Thank you for the video, I am a just a kid learning to do drone photography and because of this help I got a small job at a skim-boarding competition as a pilot there
Wake up to this inspiring video. Cheers, mate, keen to go around clicking about my home town today!
Yeah it makes it fun and gives you a reason to go about town. But be careful of all the dad's walking around who will run over to ask 50 questions.
Not even into this, yet you got me into this. Man your good lol. Super cool video.
The timelapse shots just got my attention. I've been flying 3 years with a drone and still learning basic changes to camera settings
Thanks a lot! That was a great point of view and then one that echos in my mindset! Thanks man, I'll definitely look through other your videos!
Can’t be more real! Thanks for the panoramic view point on reality
but just like the photos, flat, and not unfeigned of the real thing
Wow you have no idea how much this helped me. I'm an amateur drone photographer and videographer. I do real estate so I've been doing a lot of homes and commercial properties. But my following kind of sucks. Using the photography to boost my Facebook following should help with converting some people over to me for interested in real Estate services. Thank you so very much
Short and precise but priceless advise there. Really appreciate that.
I need to watch this again. Thank you for the advice on panorama and raw ...plus the marketing!
The license he’s talking about is the Part 107 in case anybody was wondering
thanks
Which would be required with the carrot farm example.
As a Part 107 certified pilot, for the carrot example, you'd need a Part 107 license
I don't understand why you need a license to take pics with a drone to sell it.
@@aplus1080 Because the FAA regulates commercial activities in the national airspace, which drones fly in. It's stupid, but if you're Joe Blow the hobbyist, you don't need a license. The minute you use the drone to make money, you need a license and you have to follow a BUNCH of rules.
"Once a week, you slide in a carrot" wait what? Seriously though, good tips

Hey Alex, thanks for the video. This was actually really inspiring. Can you please discuss more how much people should charge for licensing photos or video clips? Perhaps a price range. Thanks.

First positive drone business video on youtube. Thank you
Really happy I continued to watch this video! I’m a retired combat wounded warrior that is looking for a new avenue of income. I have always been an avid photographer but only as a hobby. Wanted to get into Ariel drone photography but didn’t know where to begin. Looks like I stumbled into the where.
In the same lane.. How are you don't 9 months later?
Glad you're making videos again I always liked yours a few years ago. Would love to hear more about your thoughts on there being a billion pAsIoNaTe videographers these days. Best bet to work in-house or freelancing still do able?
It's all about the end product, not just giving someone some pictures or video from the air. You explained that well!
Happy to see your video. It melted my heart just to know and see.
5:37 you still need a certification for your carrot farmer example(at least in the USA). The wording is “in furtherance of a business”
Also need quite a big investment to cover cost and fees of business, taxes, have the connections that have a market for you, or provide a foot in the door to a market. Wow, it's "so easy". Except if it was, it would be exploited already. These youboobers are boring.
You should have started with you need a license to get paid 🤦♂️
Wow. You made Tempe AZ look amazing! And thats how I know you're a great photographer. Also, your advice is great and translates across nearly all businesses. Thank. you!
That is the first RUclips bonus i ever gave. Greatings from Austria!
0:15 is at my home country "Burg Hohenwerfen" - nice shot!
Austria is strict on the drones, pretty much illegal anywhere, kind of sad as they have plenty of great scenery. Passed Hohenwerfen few days ago, also the filming location of Sound of Music
The examples looked more like what you can do in photoshop rather than what you can do with a drone.
Yup lol, this was just making your photos look unreal but cool.
Awesome information and assessment, being an avid adventurer (still without a drone lol) I am definitely on the right path towards one thanks to your guidance. Cheers!!
I clicked on this for the Pics! I'm not a photographer but very interesting,
Looks at channel, "Quick Ass Tutorials". Yup, love how fast this guy talks as well as how to the point his info is. Subbed.
I really like your videos and tutorials they are very genuine and easy to follow. Thank you.
Very good advice! First video I've seen from your channel and instantly subscribed.
I didn’t mean to click this ad... kinda glad I did 🤙🏻
well that's my very particular niche demographic Josh, bingo!
Nice. Is your CPC high or low?
I think it's like $.03 but i set bids up to .05, I've got a view rate of 2% for the impressions though. This is the first time i've done ads, but this was a video that was already doing really well on its own so that's the one i'm putting $2 a day behind since people were liking it already. That way I think the spend is worth it, but idk
That’s pretty good CPC. Sounds like maybe you just need some retargetting. But for your first Ad, goood job man.

2:13 has me on the floor
This guy is a solid SALESMAN. Kudos for that quick and to the point video
Awesome video! Great ideas. I had very similar ideas. This just drove it home and gave me a few more solid topics to focus on. Thank you
Thank you Alex for this info. This was a very informative video. I am very new to drones but I am fascinated with it. For me I'm not looking to become rich or anything, I just think it would be a fun hobby and perhaps it will grow into something more. Since I'm starting out, I am limited on funds so I could only afford a lower costing drone, a Holy Stone HS720E. I'm hoping since it has 4k quality video and pictures, that I can still produce some good content. I'm hoping I can maybe some how produce some funds and get a higher quality drone.
With this said, is it possible to create good content with the current drone I have. I'm very new to photography and videos so I feel like I have much to learn still. Any advice would be great. Thanks a bunch!
Brandon
"remember I'm the carrot guy, happen to have a drone.." actual LOL
You got a new Mavic Pro subscriber here man; love the clear and direct advice.
This is so intuitive love it Thanks so much Alex. I just subscribed and will be looking forward to more cool videos
I'm hurt! One of the nice breaks I had was becoming marketing coordinator for an annual Carrot Fest. For real. It was already an established and popular event which made my tasks easier but yeah, not much scope or money in that, nor epic, cinenatic B roll.
Probably could have really used some :(
Great advice brother. Any advice for a professional doing this on the side? I'm an aero-engineer (UAV) picking this up on the side. I've had a gov't clearance for 24 years and I'm interested in expanding my potential marketplace. Any advice? I realize it's a niche market. Thanks in advance.
And you want to do this by taking real estate/cheezy promo photos? stick to the day job.
Thank you for your videos, Alex Harris, YOU'RE AWESOME !
So glad I stumbled upon your channel! Love your work

Subscribed right away. I thank you GREATLY for creating this. Studying for my Part 107 now. --- I'm in a great city for it, and I will knock on the doors of businesses if I have to to get more jobs, grow my portfolio and network. At 32, I'm beyond done with career and income dissatisfaction. --- I haven't yet decided which area of drone jobs to specialize in yet, but this video really really helps.
Always very helpful and great information
Thank you for the videos
Question: If you are taking photos (or video) "for fun" and someone offers to buy a shot or a clip. Where does that leave you if you've not applied and tested for a commercial license?
You gotta pretend its a drug deal.. dont get caught lol
@@thomasa.7759 While I recognize the levity and appreciate the humor in your comment, and recognized the partial sarcasm in my remark, in all seriousness it seems that there needs to be some actual guidelines for such circumstances. No matter what the situation or laws, there are always people who want to do end-runs around them. In reality, is there a difference if I were to do some aerial photography for my church for free, or if they paid me up front, or offered me money or waived congregation fees for doing the service after the fact? The other aspect is, when you indicate that you are a "officially licensed" drone photograher, the expectation of your due diligence increases and the category of liability insurance increases exponentially, probably no longer covered by a personal liability umbrella, whether you fly one mission or 100 missions for money. Just stuff to ponder.
@@GeroLubovnik the bottom line is this: if the drone photos/videos that you create are utilized in ANY way that could be considered to be "furthering a business" then you need an FAA Part 107 license. That means that even if you post videos to the RUclips channel of a non-profit organization, you can be viewed by the FAA as furthering a business -- either the business of YOU (as a drone videographer) . . . OR the non-profit organization trying to recruit new members or advertise itself. Even the activities of a non-profit organization are divided up into "potential business" activities and "whatever *non-profit* actions" they perform . . .
And the insurance question is also valid, there are places to buy insurance online -- just google it. Some of them break it down to the quarter hour, and you can have all kinds of different levels of liability AND damage insurance -- but they ALL require you to have a Part 107 license.
This is a first an honest advice.
I love your video about this topic. And it is a big help to others how to start and thrive in the business world. Super comprehensive video. Keep up the great work.
One of the few times I didn't instantly crank it up to 3x playback speed on a RUclips video. Great content!
you need to speed up your delivery a little bit
Not quite my tempo.
I had to slow down the playback speed to 80%. He must have ramped it up! lol
How about you speed up the tempo?
Ummm, I think thats the point of the name, “Quick Ass Tutorials” . A lot of info in a short time. Kind of refreshing.
Daryl Johnson I think it’s great I could never do what he does
Depends on the regulations of the country you life in. Since you show Neuschwanstein Castle, in Germany you need to have an Air Modelflight ID (I think since 2018), Insurance and if you work commercial also a license, plus an agreement for air photography. So maybe you should consider those costs before you start a hobby business... and don't forget... if you reach your limit.... you pay income tax too.
I truly recommend that you start selling your photos via photojobz, instantly sell to millions of potential buyers. click here:t.co/PW3Jk0Uds1?amp=1?sellphotos
your work is crazzzzy nice man!
Perfect! Raw, red meat from the first second. It's so great to learn from such an absolute professional. Thanks!!!
Great content! But please could you try to speak a little bit faster?!!
How much faster does he need to speak? 😂
Hi. I can't believe I finally found someone who cuts to the chase and has the knowledge and skills to teach and capture attention.
My husband has a great career, however I have been urging him to turn droning into a second career or at least post free content for others to enjoy! I never knew I could be in complete amazement watching someone fly a drone. Literally he switches his flying style from fighter pilot to flower and smooth in an instant. (Google the drone attack scene from the Gerald Butler movie, "Angel has Fallen" if you have no idea what I'm trying to say, lol.)
As you mentioned, I am going going to buy Adobe and we will focus on editing.
I came across your video as I was searching how to create drone marketing content for my new brand of Facemask (_iSewn). I clicked your listing because of the sick pic and your youtube name. I started designing masks as creativity is my stress outlet and improving public health is my passion as a Nurse. I want to use drone videos to share my modern vision. It really is possible to be a top Droner if you study, take action, give freely, are persistent, and really know how to fly.
Thanks again,
Caitlin
