He gave no reason or notes to back up his claim outside of Donda was something we never heard before. For me I liked four songs on donda and there's only five or six on clb that get replays. I wasn't blown away by either but I couldn't give the W to Kanye simply because it was something we never heard before.... I don't enjoy all that stuff that Kanye does with the production and the extra shit, I'm into rap... I'm here for the bars, the metaphors, the entendres, the word play, cadence, rhyme patterns...etc... A person's flow can be the replacement for all that extra production in my opinion. I enjoy a good layered beat but it doesn't have to be super complex with all this extra craziness added in and background noises and such... And for those purposes if Drake had dropped clb with only no friends in the industry and 7:00 a.m. on it that would have already placed it above donda for me. That's a bit of an exaggeration but I just haven't enjoyed Kanye's albums the past 5 years the way that I did the 10 years prior to it.

I just don’t understand why Kanye never gets the acknowledgment of being a producer when these conversations come up. To me, him rapping was always a plus, Kanye was and will always be a producer first. Just like Dr Dre, Kanye as an artist, visionary and producer is what makes him the greatest in my eyes, NOT how ill he is as a lyricist.

The complication of loving someone even though they do things that feel unsupportive and ungrateful at times. Donda is an appreciation of what it means to find yourself such as in the song new again and come to life. Donda is about faith, memories, relationships, and struggle.

Kanye album is better. It had a running theme, even the artists that’s featured followed. He got the best Fivio, Yachty, and Lil Baby verse out of those guys. It was better produced, with the theme being an homage to his Mom. It was an actual album. Drake made a Khaled album, and didn’t veer from the formula AT ALL! That’s an issue when you been around for as long as he has. He wants to be compared to Hov, but 5 years in we got Blueprint. He did t keep making Hard Knock Life Vol. 2 like Drakes doing now.

Drakes album was an R&B adjacent/fusion album (majority low tempo), Kanye made an experimental Hip-hop album (prevalence high and mid-tempo). They arent the same, and are barely comparable to the other BUT overall, Donda pushes boundaries while CLB is safer and usual. I prefer Donda; both sound good though.
