    For those wondering :
    The speedo bulb is a standard halogen wedge , T6.5 , 3W.
    It will fit the 250 and the 125 versions ( part number 42X835170000)
    He’s putting a T5 as a replacement, as T5’s fits the socket too ( not as snuggly, but firmly enough)
    If you just want to change the color, you can do it like back in the day , with a silicone bulb cap of the color of your choice, or by purchasing a glass tinted one 😊
    Happy riding to y’all ✌🏻😄

    Thanks a lot also from Germany :-) I had to replace my speedometer cable, and your video helped me a lot ... the two screws which hold the tachometer and the lamp case are really bad guys ... took me a lot of time, but ... ok it all worked fine in the end.
    And hey ... love your Virago style.

    my 2006 xv250 speedometer and front light housings are joined together with a round bracket and grommet . No idea how to take them apart.

    • @solisapaul
      @solisapaul  6 лет назад

      Brett Sutherland Interesting even though our bikes are four years apart I would think that the industry standard would be about the same I’m sorry I couldn’t help you I’m not sure or familiar with the 2006 for all the lighting mounting brackets, The only thing I can think of is perhaps somewhere within that base where the speedometer and headlight meet the frame there has to be some sort of bolt or maybe even a cover plate of some sort covering the screws or bolts that connect it, which makes it hard for you to see.

      Bryce Redwing Thanks for watching the LED light for the tachometer was bought from an automotive store here in Texas it’s called AutoZone they also sell it at O’Reilly’s as well as advance auto parts and Pep Boys I’m not sure where you’re from but it’s your typical neighborhood automotive shop. I would think your layer of grease might run when headlight heats up. Could plug the drain with grease and debris. Good video.

    Can you drill a better hole so the water can drain better?
    Just curious my friend.

    • @solisapaul
      @solisapaul  6 лет назад +1

      Rhino Dan thanks friend the bigger hole is what I was thinking as well however this was after I put everything back together...lol. I might take it apart and drill the hole a bit bigger at a later time. Thanks for the compliment I’m trying to give more focus on my videos but work sometimes makes this a challenge.

      Casp 72 I understand about work and time.

    • @EJ42955
      @EJ42955 6 лет назад +1

      I don't think a bigger hole will really accomplish what you want. The reason the water pools where it does, is because , when parked, the bike leans over slightly. Obviously. I would consider drilling an additional hole, (probably, 1/8 inch?), right at what would be the bottom of the circle, as the bike is parked on the side stand. Just a thought. Good vid, otherwise.

    • @EugeneCastagliuoloLaw
      @EugeneCastagliuoloLaw 2 года назад

      @@EJ42955 I had a similar idea. Actually, I would probably draw a series of small holes (which no one is ever going to see anyway), so that, no matter what the angle of the bike, the headlight will drain efficiently.

    • @solisapaul
      @solisapaul  6 лет назад +1

      Chris Hayes thanks for watching, I got the LED replacement at Autozone it’s a neighborhood automotive store, located in there LED light isle. If you don’t have an autozone at your location most automotive shops like Pep Boys, o’reallys, Advance Auto Parts etc....have a similar LED Isle. Hope this helps.

    • @solisapaul
      @solisapaul  5 лет назад

      sheldon long I can’t remember the part number since I got these a long while back, however I got them from the neighborhood automotive parts store called Autozone, I remember taking the original bulb and comparing it with the ones in stock at Autozone, there I found a perfect match. I hope this helps, as long as the bulbs leads and circumference is the same it will be fine since these are LED bulbs the voltage and watts are minimal and therefore not causing a short.👍🏼✌🏼

    • @solisapaul
      @solisapaul  4 месяца назад

      To me it’s bright enough, you have to keep in mind that the face plate of the speedometer is black, so it holds back a lot of its Illuminosity, as oppose to a white. Hope this helped thanks for watching. Stay safe and sound.👍🏽✌🏽

    the speedometer mount of the virago is by far the worst part of the entire design. it's just fucking stupid. but i managed to get it off with a combination of anger, soccet joints and a tiny ratchet. however, I've given up trying to get it back on. I'm pretty sure I've stripped the screws and threads in the fork. I mean, the headlight is mounted with the same screws, that are blocked BY the headlight. and the cables are stiff and 2 different brackets. from an unreachable angle. i'm so angry i'm crying.

      From the sound of things I can definitely see the frustration. Sorry that it was so complicated. I do commend you on your efforts, some never even try to DIY. But never give up! Try, try again.. be patient and keep your cool. Tackle this when you’re absolutely able to with no interference or troubles on your mind. “You can do this!” Stay safe and sound 👍🏽✌🏽
