I got close to a carrier battlegroup in a Gazelle with my skid skimming the water. The SAMs and hornets were firing but were also having a difficult time tracking. The problem happens when I'm in CWIS range. You already know how that ends lol

i had about the same result when i fired mlrs units at the carrier as well (i posted the pics in discord) surprised they dont fire more at them. though i used just 2 launchers 1 grad for saturation and a smerch with unguided non cluster he rockets

@@RaV591 I suspect that the AEGIS on the escorts would still not have any trouble keeping up with a full salvo. Any vampires that do leak through, would still have to contend with the SeaRAM, CIWS and ESSM batteries of the carrier itself. I think the MLRS attempt was the first time in any of these videos that the carrier's air defense even got to fire. It's too bad the AI doesn't seem to be able to engage vampires with aircraft though, since that was one of the F-14's jobs.
@@RaV591 Yeah naval combat is lacking especially with the old assets. The Kirov has to face the target head on to fire the missiles despite it using VLS. 2 Kirovs should be able to overwhelm the carriers defenses with 40 P-700s. Also, the P-700s themselves should be way better. IRL, for each 5 P-700s, 4 skim the surface and 1 flies high to provide targeting data for the rest. They also have ECM goodies in them. Also also they should be able to survive way more CIWS hits than they do in game. The harpoon can survive 2 hits from the Russian 30mm, the P-700 (which is much larger) should be able to survive atleast 5- 6 hits from the American 20mm
If the Doppler filter of the enemy radars is modeled you could try a KA-50 coming in at 5-10ft above the water at a very slow speed, like 10-20 knots. Get in range of Vikr missiles and go into hover hold and fire away. You can attack S-300 sites that way so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work against the ships. You’ll be out of range of the Phalanx as well. Also, if you’re trying to make it realistic, American carriers usually only sail with 1 Ticonderoga and 2 Burkes. The way you have it set up with so many escorts seems pretty impossible.
MLRS Cluster munitions are not that small. You can only fire 2 from each of those particular vehicles at a time. You can fire either 12 normal rockets, or 2 of the ATACMS. Afterwards you have to reload.

Awesome job. I was the one that suggested the minicons and I expected that the air cover would get you. It would be interested to see if it would work if there was no air cover, but that is not realistic. Looks like it might have a chance though likely would be suicide as the CIWS would take them out when they got in range. That why I thought rockets would be better than bombs, though I guess you could try to toss them. I LOL'd when RC said he didn't bother learning how to drop the bombs. Thanks.

A trillion of small projectiles seem to be very effective to oversaturate defences at a small cost. I wish it was possible to see the effects of the Volcano long range guided munitions. No need to get impossibly close to the target with them.
Hi Cap, I was messing around in the mission editor with Iranian SRBM SS-1C Scud-B missile launchers and had them fire at a specific point on the map. However I found that no matter what Skill level I set them to they kept missing. I did some quick testing and noticed that the missiles were consistently hitting the same (wrong) location on the map. Does DCS model rotation of the planet or what else could be causing this discrepancy in accuracy? Thanks!
@@bruhbruh13968 interesting, when I was testing it I fired one at the "minimum effective range" of the missile and it still missed, admittedly I did not time it. I also noticed the further I launched it the more it deviated from the target (still consistently hitting the same spot). Thanks for the response though!

Since your trying to have all 40 shipwrecks from the 2 Kirov battlecruisers launch at once, and it appears each ship only launches 4 at a time due to DCS Bogachev code, why not just use 10 Kirovs to shoot 4 missiles each? I know it breaks the 2 ship rule you have in place, but it would also allow you to test the true onslot of 2 Kirovs vs a carrier fleet. And also, thanks for the videos Cap
It's too bad you don't have drone powered paragligers with some sort of an analog magnetic homing device and some nasty high explosives. Launch a couple of thousand at them. Problem is the Carrier could just turn away from them to out run them. Harder than hell to hit though.

Leave it to the US Army to have a weapon that can be used against naval forces. But don't forget, even the A-10 pilots cross train with the US Navy for costal defense missions.
You should let the Kirovs fire their S-300s unto the carriers. They can be used to attack moving surface targets. In real life though. Plus P-700 has a nuke warhead version. I don't if the game has it.

I don't think the carrier's strike group is realistic, in rl they have 4 nuclear-powered stealth Submarines Sailing under every single Carrier, they can detect and destroy these ship from far distance, in rl the strike group and the carrier itself are armed with sea sparrow and tomahawk missiles. not to mention the E-2 & E-3 AWACS planes patrolling hundreds of miles to provide protection in the sky for the feelt and pinpointing every enemy aircraft. the carrier strike group also have P-8 Poseiden anti-Submarines planes capable of taking out any enemy submarines.
Use SU-57 carrying anti ship missiles and a nuke. The missiles will act as decoys getting the SU-57 closer where it can fire it's nuke unto the carrier.
With Shipwrecks in stupid mode and no modelling of their advanced capabilities, the missile will be no different than a Sunburn... Fast, but not as clever. These missiles would actually prioritize targets too if modelled correctly, meaning if the carrier is sunk, they will have a hierarchy of targets in descending value to target next. And then nasty counter measures and maneuvers they would do, at the moment they were made, they were the peak of Anti Ship missiles, and something the west could only dream of at that point. Today, the West hasn't had a need of anti ship missiles, so the technology is lacking in that area, but they have way better land attack missiles.
This isn't really realistic. The carrier group wouldn't go total nuts when 2 prop planes come over the mountain and shoot whatever pops up on radar. I bet even in Oman there are civil aviation pilots. A radar contact needs to be identified as hostile before they can engage. They'd likely first send a radio message on guard, send a couple jets to intercept and only when they see the bombs they'd be shooting.

cwis will definally not able to track that many targets at the same time. Even if ot can, it will run out of ammo in a few second anyway😂

Wow, Caps GPU was that carrier, fps drops as fast as the carrier caught fire.
With low tech planes, you have to make sure they aren’t metal. The I-16 is a metal monoplane. A wooden biplane should have a much smaller RCS
What doesn't make sense is that the carriers RIM-116's could engage but neither the CIWS or SM-2's could lock and launch on the shore artillery.
What do the stranded tomcats do? Do they automatically find some random friendly base or do they just loiter until they bail?
