Shame no game does logistics good, dcs, you never actually see your work doing anything. In arma its amazing but only on a small scale, you cant fly c130's across countries. And in HOI4 its just a small tab that you dont really manage.
@@pricelessppp Hate to break it to you but, PMDG isn't the gold standard everyone tries to make them out to be. They wish they could make planes like A2A does for GA and warbirds.
Mannn this gets me so excited for the c130. And the Chinook! I feel like I should be more excited for the f15e than I am. But the c130 and Chinook got me real excited lol. First modules for me after a good while. Will be a good getting back into it after like a year break
I see these flying out of RAF Mildenhall all the time, doing low level flight training, evasive manoeuvring and the like. People forget these things can drop mines, MOABs and JDAMs in those weapons creates, not "just" resupply Paratroopers use them too!
Definitely. But I hope they will add a consistent gameplay with it when the add on will be out. Currently, as a mod, it's a bit "rough around the edges" :P . Will probably spend my time between this and the CH-47 though.
I am working towards flying one in IRL. The Mod that they have in the game is odd, It looks like a J model but has a navigator seat that and is in the H model.
The C-130 and the logistics mechanism is a great addition to an already great simulator, but we will surely need a cargo plane for REDFORD too. For example the AN-12 or AN-22.
Logistics wins war. People who say the C-130 doesn't belong in the game don't understand air to air refueling, movement of supplies like parts to fix aircraft and various other supplies. Also the c-130 can go offensive too with the right load out.
I prefer the combat roles but I have such a huge appreciation for the guys flying 130’s logistic roles of any kind on the servers so I always offer to provide an escort any time I see them
I wish they did concentrate more on logistics. I like flying the Mi-8 for that very reason when I don't feel like shooting shit up. I hope they get around to introducing a CH53 at some point.
Ascot is the Air Transport callsign that the Royal Air Force uses for its entire fleet in real world. The trigraph is RRR so in your case in this video RRR-11. Someone who built the mission on GF did their homework.
I love the support role, I would love to see something like a 135 as well, for refueling ops for a while, even tho the herc will do it, it would be better in the 135
I would really love the see the C-17, as I am a C-17 loadmaster. It can take shit tons of munitions and can land at most places that the C-130 can. 102 jumpers can leave the aircraft or 54 jumpers and a mix of heavy equipment, like 3x Humvess. It would make a huge change to the landscape. Also, it flies a fuck ton faster than the C-130.
The C-17 is an awesome plane and I would love to see it find a niche in DCS. I say that purely from looks, though, because I have no experience with its real-world deployment. Do you think the scale of DCS allows for it to be meaningful? Would it need the long-teased Whole Earth project to be feasible?
@@SkullCollectorD5 Late reply but not really. The C-17 can fly any short distance, just like the C-130. It can land on short strips that aren’t too much longer than compared to a C-130. The C-17 generally does longer missions due to range but has no issue with the shorter ranger seen in DCS.
DCS hopefully will be more than just jets one day, I hope they add more of a combined arms aspect to the game. However I love the game with just the jets
I think c130 and chanook will add a lot of fun logistics. If they add paratroopers that would be massive I'd also love to see an ac130 added but I don't think that's on the horizon
Logistic missions aren't boring. I'm sure there are others like myself who dont care to fly fighters and dog fight. I enjoy the simplicity of task, and i enjoy flying heavies. Most of the guys in the fighters are dying and using up all the supplies anyways lol. They need dudes like us
In an old PS2 game called Aero Elite: Combat Academy, there are occasional basic airdrop and casevac missions in Scramble Mode. The former involves you simply flying a cargo plane to a waypoint and airdropping a cargo pellet, and the latter requires you to land your amphibian aircraft near a dam. Despite there being essentially nothing else during those missions, the voice scripts played during those mission helped you tuning in on the context of the missions and offered a limited degree of immersion.
Even if I don't want to fly a C130 myself, an escort mission where the cargo plane is an intelligent human who can react to my warnings would make that kind of mission better.
I love the mod and fly it all the time. On the server i play im already known for flying the C130 to drop ammo at the airfields for them to resuply. The only thing thats kinda sad to me is that other players see it as just a green su27 if they dont have the mod installed themself, that kinda takes away some of it in my opinion
They landed these planes in Vietnam on airfields under attack to resupply and evacuate the wounded. Takes balls of steel to fly a cargo plane in a hostile air space.
Loved the video @TheDevildogGamer! Can't wait for the next video of DCS, Broken Arrow, Nuclear War Simulator or Kerbal Space Program 2 man! Would love to see you Drop Paratroopers or Vehicles with the C-130 Hercules in DCS man, maybe grab some of your Friends or Anyone else who plays the Grey Wolf Server to Try this out.
People act like there aren't people who exclusively just do troop and supply transports in helicopters already, an actual plane that can do it would be a welcome one. The missions and escorts people could do would be interesting.
If anyone hates the c130 mod on dcs then they hate progression lol. The possibilities with this, combined arms, transport helos etc, its one hell of a time. Used this with a few squadmates and it was probably the most fun ive ever had on dcs
As soon as, more and more servers implement logistics, the voices of those "disputing the use cases for transport aircraft" will go very quiet, as they realize how useless fighting without weapons and supplies, actually is... 😉 ...and how crucial protection of the logistics chain can be, if you want to fight.
Ayy logistics! Theres something about doing these runs that are great! Yea you arent in the shit firing missiles at everything but its that suspense as you get closer to the front that feels wild! I love doing the supply runs to forward AFs in the finnish virtual pilots server on IL2 GB
Not familiar with the DCS world and ecosystem. But very familiar with C-130H models (USAF maintainer for 12 years in the 90's). Got out of the military in 2000, so zero familiarity with the J. So weird not seeing the nav or flight eng seat. And all those digital readouts..... But regarding DCS, am I to understand, it simulates battles so accurately, that re-arming actually requires human supply runs? If so, that is equal parts crazy and cool, and you have to respect that dedication to realism (as much as possible). I am considering trying this out. I actually have some hours in the _real_ C-130H sim that is at Dyess AFB. Was awarded sim time for doing something well... I forget. Maintainers do not get sim time very often. And yes, I took off, circled Abilene TX for a bit, and landed successfully first time. I was probably lucky, lol. Any suggestions on a good, value controller to get started? And I have an update to date powerful system, except my graphics card is a bit old (Geforce 1070).
I use a PS5 Dualsense controller, it works perfectly for me. The Dualsense also has gyro which adds even more usefulness as I don’t need to reach for the mouse as often.
MOST UNREALISTIC CARGO MOVEMENTS! Get your life together.
