Jimmy meant the world to me. Im sitting here on my lunch break as a FedEx courier on a sunny afternoon of Sept 20, 2023 here in Knoxville, TN. Ive been a fan of this poet for many many years but only had an opportunity to see him once, but i was fortunant and thankful for that. I listen to this man EVERY......SINGLE.....DAY as im at a crossroads in my life and not know what to do, but his music brings tears, memories, and motivation, yet I remain clueless in what direction God wants me to take. Neverthless, whatever road it is, Jimmy will always be with me helping to ease my worries. So glad these videos were shared. Is this his daughter speaking with him?
I've been a Parrot Head for over twenty years. This is my favorite Jimmy song. He was born the same year as my Dad and died the same year. It's been hard.
@@5Ring Wow same here except he died 2 years after my dad. They were both born in '46 though. And this is my favorite JB song. And yes, it's been hard.
When this series was released, I thought it was nice, especially during the pandemic when he wasn't touring. But now, after his passing, I realize how amazingly lucky we are to have this content.
This docuseries by one of Jimmy's daughters, Delaney, is worth its weight in gold. Gonna miss this guy so much. His music lives on, but knowing Jimmy is no longer with us is just pretty damn depressing.
Be thankful for the gifts of music he left us! That's how I can still enjoy listening to Jimmy and not be sad. Gratitude in life brings joy my friend. Try not to be sad and enjoy!
@@lesterelkins4050 I agree with you and Gregg here -- the music and all the stories will live on forever. The idea that he's not around, and there isn't another concert to attend is pretty sad though.
Delaney...I can't imagine someone being a fan of your Dad & NOT knowing Tin Cup by heart. We owe you huge for doing this series of videos for us. Thank you sooooo much & cyber hugs from SW Ontario. Paul & Mary.
It’s crazy how sometimes I’ll meet people who don’t really care for Jimmy‘s music (it’s a rare occasion )and it’s just sad. They are really missing out. Theres so much more than Margaritaville , he was a brilliant and awesome guy.
Jimmy Buffett, The soundtrack to my summers for at least 25 years. I loved the authenticity to his writing. There was a song to get me through any of lifes trials. Rest In Peace Jimmy 🙏 and God Bless the entire Buffett family during this difficult time 🙏
I can hear the love and respect they have for each other in the words and responses. Breaks my heart we lost such a wonderful singer / songwriter / storyteller. Jimmy Buffett is the finest example of joy.
I recently came back from a vacation trip to Key West with my wife and granddaughter. We experienced minor tropical storms while trying to reason with hurricane season Debbie. Mallory square is where everyone gathers to watch the sun set, silhouetted with sailboats doing the same. It is magical. I wanna go there.
Last track on A1A, Jim's most melodious album, a gorgeous song, but you don't want the album to stop.. Thank you, Delaney, you bring out the best in your precious dad..
I loved this man, his music, his connection to all of us as a distant relative who we never saw, but was fiercely loved and always present in our lives. Godspeed Jimmy!
Delaney thank you so much for doing this series. These videos are a treasure just like your Dad was to all of us. I’m so sorry for your loss (and ours). Prayers for you and your family. God bless Jimmy Buffet, our generation’s poet. ❤️🙏💔🙏
When I was 9 or 10 in the late 70's, I remember getting a copy of You Had To Be There Live '78 on 8 track. I wore that 8 track out. Then got it on cassette and wore that out. Jimmy was the first concert I ever went to on my own dime. I learned the guitar and learned every song on that album, and even used to play (underage) in bars doing his songs. When I left to study abroad for a year, a friend made a copy of every one of his albums (up to that point) on cassette for me so I wouldn't be too homesick. Learning about the history of these songs and the story behind them has been absolutely invaluable. Thank you for making these videos Delaney. Your father inspired me immensely to become a songwriter. Thank you Jimmy for the gift of your music and the inspiration. The world was a better place with you in it!
“You Had to Be There” and I was fortunate enough to actually be there. Most of the album was recorded August 8-10, 1978 in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre, a grand old Moroccan style historic landmark theater where “Gone With the Wind” had premiered four decades earlier in 1939. We had terrific seats, center balcony, looking down on the stage. It was an epic evening and the album really captured the magic. Carry the torch forward. It’s really cool that younger generations love him as much as we did. Good luck with your music 🧨
Jimmy Buffett is the greatest transcendentalist poet of all time and he could sing and play the guitar a little too. I've been listening to him since middle school because my mother played his cassette tapes in the car as she drove me to school. I'm now living one of his songs in the Florida Keys that he didn't even know he wrote. Thank you and God Bless you Jimmy!
I am a Parrothead through and through....My first concert was Jimmy opening for Linda Ronstadt at Jacksonville St. U. in 1976. This song contains my favorite line from all of his songs: "give me oysters and beer, for dinner everyday of the year, and I'll feel fine." LOVE YOU JIMMY!!
Was on “The Boat Ride” concert with your Dad in 1976 in St Pete - and booked bands on St Pete Beach at Watership Down in the 1980’s - we used bits of this song in radio ads mainly because i just LOVE THE SONG - and i literally could eat “oysters and beer for dinner every day of the year”! SO HAPPY that you and your Dad did this series … God Bless you - and remember to celebrate his BIRTHday …. Not so much that sad day from what has been almost a year ago, now ….
When I think Buffett, this is in the Top 3. Definitely one of my favorite songs from Jimmy. For those of us that have fallen in love with KW, we all "wanna go back to the island".
Watching these videos with his daughter the day we found out about his tragic death. Jimmy Buffett has been the soundtrack of my life. I have enjoyed his music with my wife, my kids, and during both good and bad times. He will be so very missed but never forgotten.
Thank you Delaney for creating and sharing these snippets of your dad's life. As always, he was a story teller extraordinaire. Delaney Talks to Statues is still one of mine and my son's favorite songs. It reminds of the times when my sons were growing up into the men they've become. Hugs from one of many parrot heads ❤🦜🌴
Delaney, bless you for doing this series. "Tin Cup Chalice" is one of my all-time favorite songs your dad has ever done. My baby sister passed away a couple of years ago and this song makes me think of her. When we were little, she had a "tin cup" that our mom always served her juice out of. The last time we were together we found a wonderful red wine that we loved. So I always think of that cup when I hear this song. My mom still has it, and one day, I plan to raise that little tin cup full of red wine in memory of my sweet sister. Thank you.
@@paulas_lens Oh that's beautiful! After all, what would Paradise be without Jimmy? He brought all of us to Paradise on earth. My heart goes out to you. And when you and I get to the other side, we'll find each other, and our sisters, and Jimmy!! And we'll dance, sing, and celebrate! Until then.... ❤🌴🌊
Dear Delaney, I’m so sorry for the loss of your beloved daddy. Yes, we loved him as Jimmy Buffett, but he was your dad. I know you miss him every single day. My deepest condolences to you, sweetheart.
Oh my. I can't love this enough. I first heard Jimmy in 72. I have loved him, his lyrics, and books ever since. The world is a sadder place without him. Glad there is media so he can live on through it
Who knew that stupid lock down would provide us with this great treasury of songs we loved but rarely heard live. The man may have passed on but as long as the sun sets in Mallory Square, Jimmy will be remembered.
Thank you Delaney for recording these wonderful conversations and songs with your Dad. He lives on and through his music, still improving people's lives, getting them through hard times, and for reminding us all to enjoy every sunset. He also lives on through his wife, children and family. I pray he is at peace.

I've been coming back to this series of vids for 2 years now, and man are they worth gold now! Thank you Jimmy, for these and everything else you gave us! Thank you Delaney as well, what a gift these are! Cheers!
It's so touching to see Jimmy being in thoughts and emotional after singing some of these songs (The Night I Painted The Sky, is another). He must have so much memories to each songs, starting from when they were written. I mean even we have some of his songs tied to some events or memories, long life to you sir!
Not nearly long enough! Strange to be delving into these videos to see some comments left when they were first posted during quarantine and others after we were plunged into mourning 2 weeks ago when Jimmy sailed off into a Mallory Square sunset. All of it is sealed in a time capsule of memories along with all of my concerts, from Labor Day weekend shows in MA to many after moving here to FL. I can't believe there won't be any more!! 😢

Thank you so much Delaney..blessings to you and your family.
