I play one and it's a lot of fun. Mine isn't really religious but obsessed with stars and astronomy instead.
As someone who’s never been to church, them randomly singing a song I’ve never heard before in complete synchronicity was terrifying
Watching it happen at church is also terrifying, especially when ten people are on stage "letting Christ into their soul" which looks like they're all seizing
I went to a Puddles Pity Party show in Anchorage, Alaska. Early in the show he had the audience sing their state's anthem. I'm from Virginia, and couldn't even tell you the name of my state's anthem, but the entire theater starts to sing this song about a flag I've never heard. It was also this terrifying.
As someone who has been to church all their life, I find it odd to know someone has never been to church before.
There has to be some cultural osmosis going on based on the upbringings some of them have described
It's not so much that it was a religious song they all knew from, as it was a religious song that became a meme for a while because it got a really good techno remix.
Of everything I expect from a D20 clip, hearing "OUR GOOOOOD IS AN AWESOME GOD HE REIGNS" was nowhere on the list.
And they all knew it, it's weird as a guy raised outside of religion to see a bunch of people dredge up collective Sunday School memes. Where did those memories live in these people's heads?

This reminds me of the single wildest thing I've ever done in D&D: I was playing a Zelda themed campaign and played the absolute most evil Deku you've ever seen who literally worshipped rupees. Examples of my evilness included attempted murder of a major quest NPC for no reason other than he was annoying me, and some other shenanigans that might be too evil for YT comments (I made sure to never cross a line that my co-players weren't okay with though). One day our party was lost in the desert, and I prayed to my own money to try to get us un-lost. I got a nat 1, and I was told that my character realized money was nothing more than a social construct. Thinking what the most chaotic response to this life-shattering revelation could be, I decided that my character's new life mission would be to help every single person in need, and spread the word of Jesus for the remainder of the campaign. I also discovered while trying to justify this that, only in the Japanese version of Zelda games, Christianity canonically exists. Sadly shortly after turning over a new leaf, my character died in an encounter with wraiths. But that is the story of Duke, the deku who went from a murderous chaotic swindler to a kind-hearted evangelist for the word of God.

A long while back, I remember it being in Christian music commercials on TV. I believe that's where a lot of non-church going people might remember it from.
Yeah, it's weird being secular in a very Christian society like ours. I know pretty much the entire story of Jesus' life, Noah and the ark, Moses and the 40 years of exile. I know the apostles and what Pontius Pilate did, Abraham's test, the differences between the Trinity, all through osmosis from pop culture. But then I see something like this and realize that even though I know a lot of surface-level Christian mythology, I have no real life awareness.

"The christian god as a warlock patron", oddly enough, is kind of historically accurate to actual medieval magic grimoires. Sure, a lot of them contained instructions for summoning and commanding favors from demons, but from the perspective of the medieval monks (yes, monks) who were usually writing these things down in secret, it was the primacy of humans being made in God's image that allowed them to tell demons what to do or petition angels and saints for magical assistance in the first place.

As someone raised in a christian school, and went to church on Wednesday and Sunday, "Our god is an awesome god" caused some Pavlovian effect where I didn't even realize I had started singing until I kept singing after it looped.

Hi, quick question for the audience at large. Are there a lot of mentions of bugs in this season? Because I'm good with a lot of body horror things (like blood, guts, strangulation, etc.), but I also have severe entomophobia (fear of bugs), and I'd like to avoid a panic attack mid-episode. Please and thanks!
There is one episode that features a lot of spiders - as well as the tail end of another, but other than that I don't believe there's a lot. Every episode has a list of content warnings with timestamps, which I imagine you can get online as well.
Thanks! I can probably struggle my way through an episode or two, but if it was anything approaching a majority then I just wouldn't watch the whole season. I'd hate to miss huge parts of the story just because I can't handle the bugs.
