Climate change isn’t just the temperature changing, it’s floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, tornados, earthquakes, famine, and other weather based phenomena that can take out at least hundreds of people per spout.
@@cherryfries623 I am a lot more concerned about the species and habitats we will wipe out in the meantime. Humans caused this with their greed and stupidity, we deserve it frankly. It will take time for humans to be affected tot ge point where the well to do who can afford their bunkers and such are affected. Only that will create change, when it will be too late. Maybe for the better, humans are a plague on the planet.

There was that time historically when lava flood plains released so much gas it raised the temp by 5° causing methane release from the oceans to bring it up by 25°, but that took a few millennia.
It kinda sounds like Brennan’s trying to do the reconstructed Elizabethan accent, which is a level of nerdiness that I definitely do not put past him.
Actually, I found a shocking amount of EME phonology and grammar sprinkled in with the actors, it was rather refreshing in a sense.

@@EtienneHookey your right. It's called OP meaning original pronunciation. English people still pronounced their R's (rhotic) during the elizabethan times so yeah it sounds very much like a somerset accent. When shakespeare is read with this accent you can pick up on word play, double meanings and humour that would otherwise be missed.

The writing for this is great. Those four plays described the majority of Black Mirror episodes while also describing attitudes that have menaced people throughout history.

Overeliance on the the technology leaves us feeble: Be Right Back (?), 15 Million Merits,
Lust for more of the technology strips away our humanity: Smithereens, Black Museum
I'd add two more plays: powers at be use the tech to control the common folk and bad people can now do bad more effectively with the help of this tech. Maybe those ideas don't have as much humor potential.
I love this because so many movies and shows blame technology for the worlds problems instead of the systems and people who use it to do wrong.

@@Fisinocean One trick with Irish names is to know that 'h' in Irish orthography isn't actually a letter, but functions like diacritic/accent on the consonant before (like how you have à or â in French). If you stumble across an unfamiliar Irish name, ignore the h and you'll probably be a bit closer...then experiment with substituting the consonant before the h with different letters, until you stumble upon something that sounds like a name. There are rules, but I think it's a bit much to expect people with no particular interest in the Irish language to know them.

More scathing social commentary of technophobia in a 5 min skit than Black Mirror has said about technology in all of 5 seasons.
K.Louis i think it’s extremely one dimensional to claim that Black Mirror is technophobic. Yes, technology is helped to do bad things, but often it isn’t the technology itself but the individuals who are misusing it. None of the episodes are so simply to new tech = inevitably bad thing. Rather, new tech that helps people, people misuse it for bad things = bad outcomes. There were episodes where technogy is used to catch murderers, pedophiles or help old people meet online and live eternally in virtual heaven. It’s not that *black* and white...

@David Silverman because thorn was a uniquely english letter and all of the printing presses were made in germany. Instead of trying to add a letter to what was at the time a precision machine the printers just started using a y in its place and everyone just kind of agreed to treat it like thorn where appropriate

I love many things about this sketch but what I appreciate the, maybe not fully authentic accents, but accents that are much closer to authentic medieval english accents than the usual rp (or cockney).
