Your videos just get better and better and better . It really shows how hard you work and how much effort you put into your work . I personally think you're producing the best content on you tube atm and really look forward to watching your next video with interest . I also really enjoy your content with Tony and never miss that either - great work and keep it coming :)
I always thought these were a relative bargain at $4-500k, considering you couldnt get anything near as special in that range. Whoever got one back them must be loving it right now
Amazing car and great video. Thank you Sam. I'd say a manual R8 V10 Spyder offers some of this experience at a much more affordable level. At least, that's what I tell myself!
I believe a few things are causing the price increase of high end sports cars. 1) inflation (both in terms of how debt acts to inflation and physical assets increasing with inflation) 2) Current volatility in the stock market 3) Tax purposes (profit from personal cars are not subject to captial gains tax in the uk) Your mileage (pun intended) may vary in your country. 4) Scarcity (desirable limited run, high demand ) 5) Future cars, atleast for road use, aren't able to replicate the driving feel of cars from this era 6) Manufacturers starting old car parts programs for past models Whilst it's impossible to predict, I still maintain the market will correct. Be it from other investment types bring more attractive or interest rates popping the debt bubble that many have used to obtain cars like this. To be honest, it's a shame these cars are appreciating so much. They become so expensive that they become uneconomical to insure and use. Which means they're either sitting in personal collections or rarely seen driving at car events like goodwood or pebble beach. The cars then become an object of wealth and lose sight of their initial product mission, to be the ultimate driving machine.
@@glenm2113 Why do you feel the need to tell the guy that actually owns a CGT what he needs to do or issues with the car like he would not know already? Trust me he knows, or his service advisor knows, lots of people around him know.
I think this car was viewed years ago as a notch down from the Enzo's of the world. Now people realize it's up there with the best of hypercars of it's time. Prices skyrocket
Sam, I think you forgot to mention that, of all other hypercars of the era with the exception of the Veyron, build quality is just absolutely perfect. Did you have the chance to place and remove the roof panels? It's just amazing how perfectly they fit, how all is so rock solid while still luxurious and light. And that floor, those mats, the whole compact and hard feeling of all, nothing rattles, nothing feels like could be improved.

No rattles , no shakes, no vibrations, no creaks in the dash, materials not faded , and it drove just like new ! It also had a gemballa exhaust system wich sounded just INCREDIBLE! this car has been my top1 dreamcar, and as they say, never meet your hero's? Well, i met mine, and it didn't dissapoint me ONE IOTA !!
That sound takes me straight back to the Top Gear episode when Clarkson reviewed it. As a 14 year old boy who loved cars I’d never heard an engine howl like that before…. Here I am, 18 years down the line and I’ve still got the same grin on my face as I did back then.

My favorite thing about the Carrera GT is that the design language carried through to the Boxster for the 981 generation....that design language made it a beautiful car for the first time
Great video Sam! I saw one of these in black parked on a street once, and no one was giving it a second look. I see that as a strength, because the Carrera GT is even more beautiful to those who understand what it is.
The automotive moment, I remember the most and a moment which still to this day give me chills, is when I was around 11-12 years old. We were driving to Italy through from Denmark on summer vacation, on the autobahn, when suddenly I feel my fathers hand touch my leg, as I sat in the backseat. He pointet at the motorway access, where a silver Carrera GT drove out in front of us, downshifted and hit the pedal out in the 3rd Lane. I could feel the noise vibrate through my body and even the radio went completely silent. Such an awesome moment and a piece of history which made my love for cars. Today Im 27
At the moment, the stock market is volatile and the rich look for other places to invest. Cars currently attract zero capitol gains tax (UK) so become an attractive proposition. They tend not to be driven due to their over inflated values. Should the CGT loophole be closed, prices would tumble......
With the wealth inequality growing, everything which is “luxury“ is at high demand, especially if it at least maintains value. People are wondering why the extra cash on market didn’t cause inflation in the 2010s. Because it DID cause inflation, but not on the market of average consumers. The bailouts after 2008, and the corporate tax reduction after 2016 went straight into the pockets of the wealthy people, who spent it on buying stocks, real estate, art and luxury cars. And there was a HUGE inflation on all of these markets. But these are obviously not part of the CPI
Sam your videos are on another level to the others. They have run out of content, showing new cars every 5 mins then wrapping them has had its day. Same goes with some of the other content. Your road trip style content is my favourite. There’s a reason top gear ended up doing so many. Keep it up

Oh Sam you lucky dog! Still recall Porsche premiering this car at Rennsport '04 in Daytona. It was black & they had it in a very fancy protective display. Also a stunning red GT3 off to the side. But all eyes were on the Carrera GT! And the stories! Unfortunately I had missed when one of Porsche's drivers had it out on track wailing at full song around the famous circuit. But EVERYBODY was talking about it! My 2nd & last visit was a silver one like this again at Daytona for Rennsport '07. I photographed it extensively under the gray skies that came over 1 of the 4 days. Worked out perfect for this particular bright shade. Been at countless events there since yet not seen another! Btw Sam, they built 600 GT3 RS 4.0.....NOT 500! You're typically spot on(like that 39 were PTS 😲) so had to nail ya! But you didn't tell us WHAT shade that one was?!!! Come on! 👆😆😛

I used to like watching videos about unobtainable, rich man's cars and all the cheerful, low key smug people who own them. Now it is just depressing and tedious.
I’m a huge Koenigsegg fan but I agree you don’t see them get driven much. Total flex car. Which is a damn shame because what CVK has achieved with those cars is the pinnacle of auto engineering. Sad to see them sitting around.
The Carrera GT my personal favourite of the supercars from that era was obviously the reason why you were there but thanks for sharing so many of the other wonderful cars they have. Your channel just keeps getting better and better 👍
What contributed to the cars edgy behaviour near the point of breakaway was the tyres that it came on when new. Even Walther Rohl said that the tyres weren't great and he crashed at least one during testing! However if you fit modern Michelins it completely transforms it apparently. Reading Richard Meaden in EVO who drove them in period and later on modern tyres said it was a car transformed and he could slide it with ease!
That's just stupid money for this thing. Don't get me wrong, its a cool car, but once you get into the million dollar range, there are plenty of other cars you can buy that would bitch slap the porsche.

The fact that all these cars are for sale kind of implies that it’s time to cash in and prices are maxed
Laughed pretty hard when I read the title, honestly come on.
CGT is a hypercar from the time not a supercar!
I think its because people hail them as the best sounding super car ever to exist
I gotta give you hate for saying that and seggs, people who buy a konisegg know what they are doing and know cars. The Bugatti is for the gram
