If his rookie year was 1951, that would make him 27 years old. Was that a Late age for rookie at that time?
That's because he was in the Navy for 4 years during WW2. I lived across the street from he and his wife in Sonoma.
@@steinps1 Thanks I’m aware he was in World War II, but that ended in 1945 Yogi Berra was in World War II as well. But started playing much earlier.
So I assume he served in the minors from age ~23 to age ~27.
Once again, wasn’t that kind of a late age for a rookie at that time?
(or even a rookie for any time frame)
