How to replace Audi A4, B7, 2005 - 2008 glove box door, with additional latch info. This is a remake, noting how to make the electric lock work. Note that I still do not have a good solution for getting all latch parts out initially -- AND that in the end, the lock only works with the mechanical key. Like many Audi A4 or B7 owners, 05 to 08 anyway, one of the glove box hinges broke, and I tried one the cheap repair kits that simply don't work.
There are a lot of videos on how to remove the glove box, but not a one on replacing its door. This, with some minor tweaks, covers it, plus replacing the piston and latch. BTW, a new latch is $100! You'll know why I bring this up in a few minutes...

Unfortunately this is a common problem to the DIY person, I've had the same trouble. What causes the hinge to break is the piston, slot of people don't lubricate the actual piston. I've had about 6 Audi's. 2 out of 6 Audi's I've bought had that problem of a broken hinge, the other 4 Audi's I lubricated the piston. Regarding the lock on the door, I just never bothered as it's a lock I never ever use & I've had customers ask me to have a look but i just decline as i cant be bothered to waste my time doing it.
