    Finally a content creator, celebrating this feature instead of complaining about it lol. I swear over half the videos I watched about this camera complained about it, instead of being excited. They may have the ability to pay 50 cents per gig for C-Fast but I certainly don't as a hobbyist. A cage and cable clamp would handle 90% of bumps and dings, and I put cages on my camera as a default, even if I don't rig them up to protect them. It's like $40 and is a peace of mind, and imo silly not to. Thanks for the video. I do wish the camera had C-Fast slot, in case prices ever come down further heh.

    USB-C dummy battery! I didn't even know that was a thing. I love the idea of using an SSD for external recording but I've grown accustomed to using that port for powering the camera. I have a zilr npf battery with a usb-c port so one battery powers my external monitor and camera. I thought I was going to have to say bye to that and go the v-mount direction but this solves for that and keeps my rig the same! Thanks!

    Having lightroom, both photos and the cataloge on an external SSD, does that work well? I shoot real estate and a fast workflow is a must, but having the photos off the Mac sounds tempting. If anyone have their two cents on this I'd appreciate it.

    I would really like to know if this camera would work with the Benro Polaris. The regular S5 you can control the camera through the app but you get no photo recording or time lapse recording. It would be totally worth the upgrade for me if this was able to have full function with the Polaris.

    You can use the same battery of the gh6 or the dummy batt.for that matter. There is a batt. Plate for the Sony batteries with 7.2 out with the big sony batt you can work for about 6 hours. Of cours the 7.2 out goes to the dummy batt kabel with a barrel plug. Use a ankerpowerbank 12.000 ma with a converter of 5 to 8/9volt 3 amps

    There is quite a lot of confusion to me about using SSD.
    -Which SSD do you recommend?
    -Are the speeds "enough" to support proress records?
    -Drop Frames ??
    - Is a v90 card "better" for all-intra records?
    I would like to see some benchmarks between v90 cards and different ssd brands.

      Dude, every SSD destroys V90 SD cards. It's not even competition. You can get NVMe Gen 4 SSD drives like SN850x that offer speeds up to 7300 MB/s!!! The USB can't even go that fast, meawhile V90 SD cards can only max out at a pathetic 300 MB/s. You might ask about the price, well, sn850x 2000 GB cost around 150 euro. For that price the best you could get is a 256 GB V90 card...

    is there a way to record on both the SSD and the SD card at the same time as back up? Or if the SSD becomes it automatically starts recording on the SD card? Guessing no.

    Hey Matt. Thanks for the vid. I’m wondering what you’re opinion is for an amateur who hasn’t got much time lol. I’m wanting to do more timelapses etc but it’ll mainly be shooting vids. I’m torn between the Canon 6D II and the S5IIX. Of course one is much more expensive and probably more than I need. So what is your opinion on both. I’m looking to step up from an 80D. Thank you so much for any input.

    • @MatthewVandeputte
      @MatthewVandeputte  Год назад +1

      I reckon keep going with what you got until you find you're really hitting roadblocks. The 80D is still a super capable camera!

    • @MatthewVandeputte
      @MatthewVandeputte  Год назад +2

      But if I had to choose between the two it's a no brainer for the much newer lumix, or even the S5 would be a great bet still!

      @@MatthewVandeputte thank you Matt, I think the Panasonic would be too much but also I’ve heard of issues with the AF etc etc. I’ve had my canon for so many years and really only just began to use the AF as it should be used lol. The problem I have with the 80D is the lack of 120fps even in 1080 as it only shoots upto 1080@60fps. So I think my next option would be another Canon but not sure where to go whether a mirrorless or not. I would really like something before our next trip to Scotland. Thanks again. Looking forward to your next vid.

    Thank you so much for this video! I ordered S5iiX just for SSD media recording. What adapter you used to attach your SSD to the camera body? I want to use my NMVe SSD for external recording as it's much cheaper and faster than V90 SD cards.

    CFE devices are PCI-attached, which is always going to be faster then USB-C. CFE cards can be had in 2TB sizes, or larger. CFE cards are smaller and more convenient.
    Transferring data still has to happen for backups, I think?
    Your choice to stress yourself out was your choice, and seemingly not a good one. Planning and scheduling can (help) alleviate that problem. And transferring data.... as many good readers as you need, with good cables and good ports, and you start a transfer and go to bed.
    I have enough trouble managing lenses and lens caps; I'm not adding an extern SSD to that until I'm doing actual video with a Ninja or comparable device.
    Not seeing a compelling advantage here, but perhaps my mind will be changed in the future.
    As always, love your work. Keep it up!
