2015-16 was such a good season. 73-9 warriors, 3-1 comeback in the wcf, curry really deep buzzer beater, kobe 60 in his last game, the block, the shot, super good all-star weekend (3 pt contest with curry vs thompson, dunk contest, good all-star game), best 2k game ever, cavs 3-1 comeback, curry MVP season, etc.

I remember watching the 2016 dunk contest at my friends house and man we were screaming during the gordon and lavine exchange. 2000 with carter was the most iconic in my opinion and the jordan wilkins dunk contest, but 2016 is the best all time. The difficulty of the dunks was unreal and both took it to another level
I remember watching the ‘16 dunk contest with my dad and my little brother and he was like 6 at the time and that got him into basketball. Easily one of my top memories of basketball. Up there with game 7 of the ‘16 finals and the entire ‘19 finals

In my humble opinion... Lavine & Gordon overtook Vince as the best dunk contest ever.
As someone who watched em both, Vince had that contest in the bag and was still killing it. Lavine and Gordon tho... They were both trying to win, and had to battle it out. That's why they get my vote for best ever. We didn't know who was going to win and it took a sudden-death dunk-off to crown a champ. I'll never forget where I was when I watched that.

The biggest gripe for me about the 2014 dunk contest; was that throughout the 2010s you hear everyone talk about how the dunk contests never had star power. Finally 2014 you had some stars, and they ruined it with the stupid format. Such a wasted opportunity.
Honestly I feel like Street dunking with guys like mr 720, tdub, and staples has surpassed what NBA players could pull off in the dunk contest(there are people doing 360 under both legs, bouncing the ball between the legs and dunking, and even going between the legs twice)

Blake Griffin later explained in an interview that in 2011 he wanted to dunk over a convertible and have Baron Davis inside the car throw the ball at him, but the NBA gave him this car since their sponsor is Kia...And since that car is taller than a convertible he decided to jump over the hood which is also pretty tall tbh.

I feel like in order to replicate 2016 we’ll need the younger player because that’s usually em where the creativity comes from. Based on this video the players replicating dunks are the veterans while the younger players or the first-time-in-a-dunk-contest players are the most creative.
