Watched it in my country Malaysia at 3.30am ending at 6.30am and no lethargic whatsoever working as usual at 9am. The moment dudek made that double save I knew we would win it. Such a dramatic football match would only happen once in a century.

Watched this at the Cheers bar in Sydney, Australia. Can't remember when KO was, probably 4am or something, but was too nervous to sleep and stayed up all night, anyway. When Dudek saved Shevchenko's penalty, everything not tied down went flying in the air; beer, tables, chairs... people were in tears and everyone was hugging random strangers, etc. Then everyone was out on the street holding up traffic on George St outside the pub; all singing and celebrating. Man, it was a night I'll never forget. Still didn't get to sleep until many hours later because of the adrenaline (and alcohol ;)) in me!

    • @MaxSoe
      @MaxSoe Месяц назад

I was at Cheers as well.
The beer tasted horrible at half time. Even with unsurmountable odds stacked against us, we few chose to support our team to the end.
We chose to hope and believe.
I remember Gerrard's goal repaying that first glimmer of hope. Smicer turned hope into belief. Then Alonso turning belief to jubilation.
And finally, Dudek's antics by channeling Grobbelaar.
      The rest is history.

The genuis of Gerrard in this game was not his goal and drive he bought to the team, but the way he defended Sergino at RB, who was like a Sterling, rapid winger for the last 15 20 mins.
Gerrard was shattered by then, Sergino would roast him for pace but Stevie G's legs seemed to hyper extend and he timed every sliding, jumping tackle to perfection. Stopping his threat. After about 4 or 5 attempts I remeber Serginho in conversation with his bench gesturing..."what can I do"

Two remarks about: 1. Fortunately next year we had our revenge 2. Liverpool and Milan are the historical élite of european football like Real Madrid and few other clubs. So i hope we can come back soon also in Champions League (we already won Serie A League few day ago) to play more fabolous finals with fantastic teams like Liverpool and write again the history of this sport

I've been a Liverpool fan since 1973. I went to a British military school in Germany, and your choices were - in no uncertain terms - "Glasgow Rangers or Liverpool, ya wee bastaad?"
As a 5 year old from Wales who'd only ever seen rugby, I had no clue.
I opted for Liverpool. Simply because they wore red.
I came to love them. Throughout the 70s and 80s my bedroom walls were adorned with posters of Emlyn Hughes and Kenny Dalglish (my mother actually met Emlyn once, in a bank. She never liked football in the slightest, but still came home all giggly and chuffed!)
One of my favourite memories of all time is being taken to watch Liverpool v Nottingham Forest by my uncle and grandfather in 1979.
Liverpool lost, but that wasn't the point. I got to see heroes of mine like Dalglish, Ray Clemence, Steve Heighway, Terry McDermott, Graham Souness etc. who I had on my bedroom walls.
And Martin O'Neill was playing for Notts (and Cloughy was the manager, so I got to see him too!) at the time.
So many legends - one little visit!
A memory I will take to my grave. Or ashtray. Whatever... 😉

In the remainder of the second half I just hoped Liverpool could score one goal to cure the frustration and Liverpool played defensively to prevent Milan from adding more goals.
