hope you have fun working on this project
Hi! I’m working on this with a friend but whenever we do the first and second round, the skirt is really ruffled and thick and poofy! We’re using the same needle and yarn, so I’m not sure what we’re doing wrong.
@@simjay615 hi!! I'm not sure you're doing anything wrong. After working the first increase round the skirt should be looking more ruffled and poofy! Are you making sure to only do 2 increase rounds like in the video? let me know if I can help more!!
If you want it to be less fluffy in the beginning you could work a few plain rounds of single crochet or double crochet and then start doing a few increase rounds later on so the ruffled/fluffy look is more towards the bottom of the skirt instead of in the beginning !
Hi!! I'm almost over with the skirt but I realize it's too loose on the waist, do you know a way to fix it?? :(
@@silvermisstt you could add a drawstring to the waistband by making a cord and weaving it under and over the waistband and making it tie in the front like a belt. I'm not sure how it would look as it might make it bunch up depending how loose it is, but if it's not too loose it will look amazing and u can make it in whatever color you want for a cute lil bow in the front
Everyone’s been gatekeeping the pattern for this type of skirt ilyyyyyyy💋💋💋

How do I sew an elastic band to the skirt? Do I make the elastic band slightly smaller than my waist? And do I attach the band all the way around the skirt?
Can we make this in to shorts?
Hi can anyone help me?. I did this tutorial right and measured the waitband correct, but after i did the body of the skirt the waist band became lossened up and non strechy idk if you guys understand what im saying, do you guys bave any advice?
so pretty!! do you have any tips for using cotton with this pattern ? or would it be the same
hi! the only thing with cotton is it tends to be a little stiff so I'd worry that it wouldn't have the same stretch when it comes to the waistband which is important so the skirt can fit over the legs and onto the waist
I'd maybe suggest not using cotton for the waistband section but instead wool or acrylic and then moving to cotton for the actually skirt portion, hope that makes sense and good luck!
@@michelleniaWould it be the same with DK yarn im a new crochet person and I have no idea if these r the same thing 😢😢
hello! i love this tutorial and want to make the same skirt!! i’m just curious if the hook sizes in the tutorial are different to the uk ones? or are they universal? should i also get a 6 and 10mm hook in the uk? i’m a beginner ❤️❤️
hello! I believe that 6mm US needles convert to a UK 4 needle, and 10mm converts to a UK 000. I found that info by looking at a needle conversion chart for US and UK needles! It might also be helpful to look into getting a knitting needle measuring tool as that will help you figure out the correct needle size. Hope this is helpful :)
@@michelleniayes thank you soo much!!
When using fine or lace yarn to make the skirt like , you showed at 0:02 did you double up on the lace yarn to make it not see-through?
I used two strands of lace yarn :) it still is a bit see through so three strands may be best!
What yarn did you use for the purple skirt at the end?
lana grossa silk hair mohair
Hii! thank you for the tutorial!! i’m making it but i’ve made 8 rounds and it’s still very very short 😢 how could i make it longer? should i just do more rounds of dc?
hi! yes! continue to work more rounds until it's the length you prefer! You can also do more increase rounds if you want to add more fullness to the skirt
@@michellenia sounds great! Thank you so much again^ ^
Hello! I have a question (: i made the waist band and i connected it , and the waist band is stretchy so it gets on and off, but then i worked on the 1st and 2nd rows and bc those aren’t stretchy now the skirt one get on past my thighs )-: is there something I’m doin wrong or a way to fix this when i remake it?🥺
Hey! I'm just a beginner, but I've had the same problem and I think it's because you probably did some rows tighter and they got looser as you went/the other way around
hello! like the other poster said it's possible you accidently made some rows with a tigher guage, I tried to keep my gauge pretty loose throughout. Another option is that you could start making the increases right away and skip the plain rows. You could even add more increase rows at the beginning to get a fluffier skirt creating more room. Hopefully this makes sense
I don't have a bigger needle than the one I'm using but I'll try, will it make much of a difference?
You can use whatever needle size and yarn you'd like! As long as you make the waistband long enough that it fits around your waist and then follow the instructions the same! good luck 🤍
@@michellenia Thank you so much you are so lovely and caring
why you turn your work after each row of the skirt portion instead of doing it in the round? is it for a specific look?
to keep the seam even!
I have a question if I wanted to make it longer could I just repeat the steps?
yes just continue doing plain rounds (no increases) until the skirt is as long as you want :)
you could add some more increase rounds if you want a fluffier/fuller skirt, just kinda depends on the look you're going for. Hope that's helpful!
How long did it take for you to finish the skirt?
about 2 days working on and off!
How do you get waistbands to stay tight or wearable
When using the correct yarn and measurements it should fit snuggly around the waist while still having a little stretch. If you want it to be more tight/adjustable I'd recommend making a long chain or weaving in a cord/ribbon to the waistband and using that as your drawstring !
Can I use acrylic yarn for this??
that should work fine :)
Can you keep going round in the same direction after you’ve joined with the skip stitch and done the chain 3 , or is it necessary that you do turn in the opposite direction then work in that way .?
Also your chain 3 ‘s at the beginning of each round , are you not counting these as an actual stitch ?
Thank you x
i don’t think you need to keep turning the skirt as long as you’re stitches face the outside of the skirt! (whichever side you’re doing stitches on will look the best) and the chain threes do count as a stitch!
should you keep alternating between two double crotches in one stitch and regular double rounds? or keep with the two double in each stitch after round 4 to make it really fluffy?
Is it the same pattern with the mohair?
yes it is :)
The waistband requires how much yarn is 25 g alright?
12:31
What if I wanna make it more taller???
to make the skirt longer only do a few of the increase rounds and then continue doing regular rounds until the skirt is your desired length! let me know if you need additional help!
@michellenia thank you so much!!!
how did u sew on the ribbon?
I used a sewing needle and thread :)
