That dog is an extremely good ally. Pick up his mission but don’t complete it, now you have two companions. And up if you’re good at conjuring, you can temporarily have have two atronoics to fight at your side bringing your party to 5 if you have a standard follower. It’s like having a small army. Plus the dog is immortal, so that’s a plus. There are a few downsides though. That dog destroys your ability to sneak, he will sometimes attack your follower, he never moves out of doorways and he pushes you or gets directly in your line of site when you’re doing a task. It can be very frustrating
“Let me tell you a story, when I was a little Dovahkiin I prayed to any Prince who would listen, I said ‘Daedra, it’s me baby Dovahkiin, now I don’t care if you take my Septims, gods or home in which I sleep, all I want is a talking dog best friend.’; Now here I am, Septimless, godless and homeless, but not TALKING DOG BEST FRIENDLESS!”
Playing this for the first time, innocently following the quest to adopt the dog, see that the dog is coming towards me. The dog speaks. Pause. "WTF" Laugh. "I love this game"
I was actually surprised about Barbas, when I was first helping Lod get the dog back, I thought I would be bringing a dog back to him and not going all the way out, just for one of the worst quests (Most Daedra Quests are just crap to me, since I actually hate most of the Daedra)
How long can Barbas stay with ya? Is it possible to do other side quest and he stays with ya? I assume if i finish his quest he leaves, but if I avoid doing it, will he go wherever I go???
I first met Barbas before I got those mods, so when I saw the talking dog, I was thinking "Ah, Skyrim must be glitching again."
