He knew he was buying it, tried to get the city to divide the property and keep the property with the tower on it, and was told it couldn't be done. In order to buy the lot he wanted he had to take the lot with the tower, even though he didn't want it. I'm just glad it's been straightened out.

Don't think he's not going to take a HUGE tax deduction for the donation. I don't know how much this tower was worth but on average they cost $2.5 million (according to Google)... so, if nothing else, the City Manager lost a not-insignificant amount of future tax revenue for both the county and the township.

The guy that deeded the tower back to to town is a better man than I am. I would have leased the tower back to the town for a modest sum, at least enough to cover operating cost and taxes each year.
he could have made a better deal for himself... pay no taxes on the land and when the tower is old and done, he keeps the land. town gets their water, he doesn't walk away empty handed !!! the reason i say this is because if it was the other way around, would the town give it back to him ? that's a guaranteed nope !!!!

the land was sold i believe, and the tower is on it.... so it comes with the property.... and maybe the "lines/lot" were never updated officially... so whatever building is on the land becomes yours.....
