  • 80dB Practice/Teaching kit made from a Gretsch drum kit fitted with Roland/Remo mesh heads and Roland Drum triggers with Zildjian Low Volume Cymbals. First part of the clip is just the drums then I turn on the electric drums module. Very impressed and feels so much better then the electric pads. Drum kits reach 120dB!

Thomas Beech Hi Tom, I am glad you enjoyed the music lessons. Why don’t you pick up an instrument and get learning. RUclips is full of free lessons.

Hey. What is the app that counts the BPM?

Could you give me the name of the app used in the video. So I can compared the noise level with my current e-drums because I plan to buy cheap snare with Remo Silent Stroke for practicing. Thanks.

Hello RhythmCaster. I got the app from Apple App Store, it’s called dB Metre and I think it was free here in the UK.
I would also recommend buying the Roland powerply heads over the Remo Silent Stroke. The power ply heads are two ply, a lot less bouncy and feel more like normal heads. They Silent Stroke feel very bouncy to me. Also check out 65 Drums RUclips channel, he has done comparison on silent drum heads.

Dr. Miguel Angel Santos Leon Hello, thanks for your comment. I much prefer the Roland powerply heads. They are two ply and feel more like real heads. The remo silent stroke are too bouncy in my opinion. I’m still looking into triggering the cymbals, I wouldn’t like to advise on it until I have done more research. There are a few videos here on RUclips about cymbal triggering though.
      Thanks
      Matthew

@@MattTownsend24 Other than silent stroke being too bouncy, in what ways do they differ? Does silent stroke still work very well with the triggers (other than the bounciness) ? Any actual issues?

Making an acoustic kit hybrid won’t necessarily be like having an electric kit... it still makes noise...

DBs don't tell the whole story. The big problem is always vibrations

Rafael Franco yes that’s true. I have just made a tennis ball drum riser from my home studio. It sounds like elephants are dancing upstairs 😃
