    This video seriously helped me understand how I should study. My second semester just started and I'm in my first med-surg class. Everyone says it's super hard so I've been scrambling trying to figure out how to study. Those chapters are way too long to read word for word!!!

    Currently, I’m in 7th grade and PLANNING on becoming an emergency room nurse, or surgical nurse, but I wanted to comment to say thank you. Quarantine has let my brain forget how to listen, so listening to something I’m interested in while learning is great. I don’t even have do focus on this right now, but even this applies to school now haha. Thank you, and I’m proud to say I’m saving this video so I don’t “fail” my schooling. This is role model type stuff.

    What if the instructor just reads. Like there is no teaching anywhere and then whatever is read and I take notes on, aren’t even on the test.

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  5 лет назад +4

      That can be tricky, the best suggestion would be to focus and fully understand the main concepts that are reviewed in lecture. If you are still having trouble figuring out what you should be focusing on to study it would probably be beneficial to meet with your instructor to review and ask any questions you may have!! Hope this helps, Camillia Livingston! :)

    Really appreciate this video. Only problem I'm having is the teacher makes us guess what info is important. She will go over EVERYTHING in the chapters, which makes us have to read all of it. So many of my friends in other nursing schools don't have this problem. It's frustrating. 6-8 chapters to learn in a week and my teacher won't help to break it down.

      For pharm you should focus on the mechanism of action or how the medication affects the body. What it does and why it causes those side effects. Understanding the patho and learning how to use that in order to know what to assess for as a nurse, and what interventions to implement and why! It all starts with fully understanding what is happening inside the body to be able to then critically think about your next step, Cari!

      Tracy Harris, great question! So the education will go in with your nursing interventions, and assessments will go along with your assessment, assessing if they have any comorbidities that would put them at risk. I hope that helps!

    Yo? So, I just discovered there are apparently nursing programs that offer med surge over the span of two semesters? My med surg was condensed into one semester and was incredibly hard.
    I can only imagine how much smoother and easier it would have been if it was a two semester class.
    Welp, perhaps that’s why so many of my peers failed and the ones that passed just barely made it

    • @NursingSOS
      @NursingSOS  2 года назад

      Yes, some programs break it down into two semesters, and some put it all into one, Erozion 8! Happy to hear you did well with it! Thank you for being here😊

      Try not to focus on what seems to be unfair, and instead focus on what you can control. There is a bigger picture here, and shifting your mindset away from how unfair it is, to "how can I grow from this experience to be a better nurse that God created only me to be." This can feel challenging and defeating, but don't let your mind wander into that negative self-doubt cycle. You are going to do great, friends! We are here to support you!
