Whitney Houston is the only female singer who has the cleanest runs whether it's in natural, mixed voice, or her head voice her runs don't follow a certain pattern. She has no weak notes in her throat; they have been developed and mastered. When those who try to sing a Whitney Houston song always fall short because they lack something when they try to sing her songs, whether it's feeling, pitch, volume , vibrato or transitions if you lack any of these elements and don't have correct placement it will be just ok, or alright!
Are going to talk about that mean transitional run she did on Happy Birthday she went up and glided down about 9 notes and landed it. That run was like butter on hotcakes it started at the top and slid down to the side. Beautiful simply beautful!
While Whitney's voice may have waned in her final years for whatever reason. However, as I have quite often said, on her very worst day vocally she could still sing one hundred times as well as I could sing on my best vocal day.
Imo I think what you call vocal waning (not arguing or fighting) I think it's vocal maturity. When you smoke cigarettes it will make your voice drop. True story as a male I had a naturally high voice as a kid and teenager it was easy to sing soprano one and 2 but when I started smoking those tenor and alto notes I was weak at became my stronger notes and soprano though I could actually hit a note I no longer could sing and sustain a verse in high soprano but a mezzo soprano and alto 1 worked well. That is what happened to her! Just my opinion sir. And she learned how to use her lower register more so when she goes into her upper register and head voice it was gorgeous
