- The city of Vancouver, Canada, has been the backdrop for countless movies and TV shows for decades. Growing up in the area, it was always fun to spot places I knew. So, here are some Vancouver landmarks you didn't know... you already know!

Love the video! It's a shame that Vancouver hasn't been represented enough. At least once every 2 months something new is being filmed near my office.
Yeah, it has always bothered me since I was kid! At least one or two major films set in Vancouver would be nice…
I am absolutely shocked to find out that the roller coaster seen in final destination was on the corkscrew 😂 that was my favourite coaster growing up
It will add a nice little extra thrill next time you ride it!
Great vid, man. made me chuckle more than a few times.
I’m happy you enjoyed it!
Way back in the 60's West Vancouver had Panorama studios. "The Littlest Hobo" was originally filmed there. Imagine my joy, when I lived in Peru and saw places I knew from my West van earlier years ( including my house!).
My mother grew up in West Van and she always talks about "The Littlest Hobo!" What were you doing living in Peru if I may ask?
@@fermentedcinema4892 I was attending school!
@@deirdrecaskenette5473 Nice! That must have been really interesting.
Beautiful Vancouver ❤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It really is! There is nothing better than Vancouver on a clear summer day!
We here in Nova Scotia (Lunenburg!) feel the same way! We've stood in for many different locations over the past decades, and only rarely (THE HEALER) do we see our home province as it really is. There has been a NETFLIX series called THEY WERE LIARS filming around the Lunenburg area over the past few weeks, only this time we were filling in for Cape Cod, Mass. But, it does bring a lot of revenue to the local economy...right Vancouver?
@@davidyoung5114 it’s always fun spotting the locations in movies and of course it’s good for the economy, but we need a little more hometown pride from those Canadian filmmakers who do succeed in Hollywood. I’d love to see some films that actually take place in the Maritimes instead of New England… again and again.
I didn't expect such a high quality video when I saw the number of views at first.
Thanks! Yeah, my videos tend to be more editing involved, and these days if your not throwing up three 20 second shorts a day, the algorithm isn't too kind...
Very informative and entertaining. Kudos.
Thank you sir! Will be more to come!
Great video! Very funny! Also growing up (and still here) in the area, I find myself constantly yelling out when spotting various locations around the Lower Mainland in movies.
@@whereispip Pointing out film locations in movies should become an official sport in Vancouver!
Parts of The interview was also filmed in Vancouver
@@jameson1239 never got around to seeing the one. Any good?
@@fermentedcinema4892 I haven’t either I just know that bit of trivia because I think it’s funny
I think we grew up on the same street.
@@mikemcewan5667 seriously? The X-Files were often filmed around there too.
Knew about the X-Files ones but man, didn't know Vancouver veins ran that deep!
battlestar Galactica 2004 - all the Stargate series - Supernatural - Falling Skies - Arrow - Fringe - the Flash - once upon a time - smallville - the 100 - riverdale - yellowjackets just to name a few ---- I grew up around these .
@@stevedockerayDark Angel series :)
MacGyver was using Vancouver, one of its buildings was the Phoenix Foundation HQ
I'm actually planning on doing a "TV shows" version of this video as well, will take a note of this, thanks! (it wont be out until next year though...)
3:26 yes
@@Fknheck Really? You think people would chose to see it or not just because it takes place in Seattle? (A fact that wasn’t advertised and only became known when already watching)?
My least favourite thing about being Canadian is that the thing this country takes the most pride in is being a stand in for the United States.
@@davidreichert9392 and it’s sad that after making it those from Canada don’t do more to honor their hometowns.
good job
Thanks! Will have a follow up video made this summer.
I mean, how many major movies have been set in Toronto; Canada's biggest city? American audiences probably wouldn't wanna watch something based in a Canadian city.
That is an issue too, but Toronto has done better, two good examples are PIXAR’s “Turning Red” and “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” Two major Hollywood films that unapologetically take place in Toronto and even use the city as a character.
Can't compare TO to van city.. this is just movies...doesn't count all the tv shows and series which is more impressive than the list of movies. Hollywood north...is primarily vancouver. Saying Americans wont watch movies if they knew it was filmed/based in Canada is a shallow comment
.I'm sorry....alot of movies are filmed outside of USA and based off of non American places. Alot of Highest grossing movies are not filmed in the USA and based off of other places LOL
Sorry I cannot stand Vancouver.. I was born in Vancouver in the 50's and raised in the lower mainland.. We never wanted to go back to Vancouver for anything.. Depressing for many people. So happy to be out of that province period.
It has its problems, won’t deny that, but during the summer you can’t beat BC. But then again, I’m more into the natural spaces than the cities.
Not surprising, people like you are miserable where ever you are.
Ok
Hope you’re having a great life
Love the video! It's a shame that Vancouver hasn't been represented enough. At least once every 2 months something new is being filmed near my office.
Thanks! I agree. So many talented filmmakers have come from the area too, but they always seem to transplant their stories and ideas to somewhere else…
Great vid, man. made me chuckle more than a few times.

Thanks, I’m to hear that! I hope to make a follow up video this summer. A “sequel” if you will 😉
