Ironically, the soaring vocals is actually an Aboriginal Taiwan drinking song - similar to "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" sung in bars and pubs and long car rides in the west - and not some new age spiritual like Enigma made it out to be and duped the world. In fact, the vocals you hear in Enigma's song was actually from a recording done in Paris by a couple from Taiwan and Enigma discovered the recording and used it in "Return to Innocence" totally without the Taiwanese couple knowing about it. It was not until the song had sold some 5 million copies worldwide and it was broadcast as part of a commercial for the Olympics that a friend of the couple informed them that their song was being used!! They hadn't received a single penny for it. They promptly sued both Enigma and the Olympic Committee.
