As an African, am happy with the manner in which the current elections are going on in South Africa. They've really proven to other African countries and the world as a whole how matured is their democracy. I salute the maturity of the electorates ( no violence during campaigns and while voting). It's my fervent prayer that the same serene atmosphere be witnessed in that country when the results shall be declared. The democratic wind is really blowing across the African continent, I hope that it will also blow across many countries in Central Africa?

As a FF+ voter, I must say after bettling the DA for 30 years, I much appreciate this new approach of the DA where they view smaller parties as partners rather than stumbling blocks. It took them a while to realise we're not in a two party Westminster system anymore, but they eventually caught on.

I think the most likely -and best case scenario - is a minority ANC government with the consent of the DA, but with the DA imposing strict limitations on the power of the ANC.

I am impressed with South African democracy at work! I follow a lot of political news around the world and I dont see more than two political parties contesting elections anywhere else in the world! DA powerful showing also surprises me. The fact that EFF lost so much support is also very surprising. Especially seeing as the land issue was a strong feature of EFF manifesto. Wow! The people have spoken. Well done South Africa! I like the cooperative governance idea. Much of valuable time in parliament is consumed by petty politics and grandstanding. The DA does not have an option but to do ALL possible to seek a coalition government with the ANC. An ANC coalition with the MK or EFF will be catastrophic for SA. Both the MK & EFF are populist parties who advocate the nationalisation of the mines and banks and the expropriation of white owned farms. The JSE took a proper bath today and lost billions as international investors cashed in - they are very concerned about the possibility of an ANC/MK or ANC/EFF coalition. As previously stated, the DA don't have a choice - they DESPERATELY need to form an ANC/DA coalition to save the country.
