I think you’re spot on with this. Since Robin’s family is “massively wealthy” and they’re worth “6,000 “Canadian craploads”, we’re looking at Robins net worth at being around $439.9m USD/$577.5m CAD. Which would be enough for someone making over $1m/annually to be impressed by “massive wealth”.
I can be wrong but i think the entire Video is wrong because the suit price he is talking about is just a Discount for Marshall the suits really cost 12.000$ and Thema Theres the thing with bis insanely high Christmas bonus
Dennis tha Menace it would be because it income he has made that year but even if it isn’t the money was given away out of the bonus hence it doesn’t matter because the bonus wasn’t counted now was it?
@@richardluna1712 But they don't make as much as he does because according to the last season, he makes "16 craploads a year" and spends "a crapload on suits". It was also later revealed by the creators that he makes more than 1mil a yr.
yağız the original price was 12,000 because the suit that was in question was bought by Marshall for 4,000 but it was 1/3 the price of what Barney normally paid
you're forgetting that in 2010 Barney fired half his department, and doubled his salary, to 2.4 million dollars a year,,, it was told in s6e4 when Ted explained to his kids why barney didnt need a win
Barney is a mysterious guy , and through out the show their were many thing we didn't expect from him , and if he already knows GNB will be sold out and he will be unemployed , he probably made many investments that would make him rich . and based on Barny's character he wouldn't depend on robins alimony.
i think a fatal flaw in the calculations is that barney would give marshal a suit of the same price as his own. from looking at the suit that he gets id say its a high quality suit but not on the same level as barneys suit(s)
also you might want to consider the earnings he made from the bro code. In season 9 episode 4 we see the bro code already being in hotel rooms, seatback pockets on airplanes, and barney mentions it being huge in germany. I'm assuming that he didn't just give copies of the book away for free, so he would be making probably a lot more money from that.
Even a 200 inch PROJECTION screen (ultimately, a piece of fabric where you project an image) goes for more than 2000 USD. I can assure you that today, a 200 inch LCD is probably more than 200k. They had a 150 inch TV in my local mall 6 or 7 years ago, and that thing was 150k EUR. So a 300 incher 12 years ago? If it even existed i'd say 1 million would ahve been very reasonable. It's basically a cinema screen LCD. Even today it would probably go for more than 100k, even at just 1080p.
For some reason, I fought that when the FBI raid appeared, the guy got emprisoned before he could fire Barney, so he still had a job. So like either he went on an extremely long vacation, or he still had his job waiting for him.
That would make sense if the company wanted to avoid a huge media scandal so kept Barney around on the same or similar salary in order to avoid any further investigation considering the company would no doubt claim that Greg acted alone outside the companies purview and hail Barney as a hero for saving them from losing anymore money that Greg was funneling away for his retirement.
Even though I don't remember Barney mentioning it, he always seemed too clever to me to not have invested in the stock market as well. If he picked out a mix of moderate-high dividend stocks, like AT&T, who's also an aristocrat champion, he'd be generating passive income that entire time in addition to everything else.
He’s actually broke at the end of the show. He knew his time was up and knew the money would be useless sitting around. So he gave what was left to his family.
I work as an analyst in the head office of a giant electronics retailer (10 billion dollars in revenue), and Barney could probably negotiate the TV prices down to below half that. The margins on high end items like that are ridiculous. At that time, we did sell a 100 inch TV for about 100k Usd. We had at least 40k of discount we could actually give if anyone ever wanted to buy it.
The Diamond Suit "The Dibiase" cost $76,000.00. Its shown on screen for a second when he is showing Ted in the magazine. His bonus cheque was enough to cover this.
Don't know how much he worth, I only know that Barney Stinson is the best friend anyone should have. What you say pardon? He's a careless manipulative jerk? No, he's just the most human being in a world of human beings. Period.
This is all assuming that one of his suits cost 5000 like the one Marshall got from the tailor. However I think that since Barney has so much more money than Marshall that he would more likely have more expensive suits.
You missed that Barney probably received a substantial payout as a whistleblower. The record whistleblower payment is around 108 million or 10-30% of the amount recovered.
And you calculated all of that just from saving. He would be worth a lot more from a killer investment portfolio he likely would have built after working for 15 years at a high level in New York City finance.
The 16 craploads thing was from when he started out. After that he got regular pay increments and in season 6 his pay got doubled too. Also he has book deals and several other promotions. The number of suits he buys a year is calculated to be 14 here but it's very well established that Barney buys even costlier suits than the one he suggested to Marshall who is having financial difficulties, because he has all the other kinds of material and stitched by exotic tailors etc. The number of suits he buys can also differ since he might just give away his old suits after a while and but entirely new ones. If we take 16 craploads and add 3% increment every year by the 15th Year we get to about 21 craploads which in the sixth season becomes 42 craploads. Assuming that the cost of his suits is not 4,000 dollars but instead 10,000 at 15 suits a year we get 150,000 on suits = 1 Crapload. 42 Craploads = 6,300,000 dollars a year. And on top of that he has the gifts from the FBI, royalties from his books which are translated in several languages and available everywhere. Barney is a multimillionaire easily
@@anjumiqbal2178 That wasn't his opinion, that was a fact. Maybe you would know that if you watched the video like he said instead of making yourself look like an idiot.
I see everyone missing one detail when they calculating Barney's salary, that he stated he's salary doubled when they fired a whole division. So Barney's yearly income is not 1,173,312 $ after season 6, it's 2.346.624 $ at least. I think it's so much higher than this. maybe 5 million $ a year. And don't forget about perquisites he earned in holidays like christmas. With only one of them he could buy an diamond suit.
I would think Barney would have invested money, had some form of interest bearing savings, and had passive income from other sources not ti mention during his tenure at GNB which was established as a major bank would have no doubt paid top level execs a fluctuating but sizable bonus on top of the guaranteed salary every year. I think we are definitely short on his net worth.
Barney seems like the kind of guy who would invest.... So starting after 2008, the stock market pretty much went straight up, so I think he would have any more
One thing didn't add up to me that is the $1.2 million a year he gets from his job. Take out the Tv's and you still have over $15 million by the time him a robin get married. Except it is even More cause the suits actually cost about $12,000 each since marshal got them for 1/3rd the price. so his yearly salary would actually be over $2 million a year and multiply that by the 15 years he worked there and he would have earned over $34 million. Now since he said he knows a guy in Japan where he got the tv I am guessing the FBI got the tv's for him, that is why I am not deducting the price of the TV's.
im surprised you left out compound interest in your calculations. The fact that he had the inside track at a bank, he would have been able to get a great return on anything he chose to put into bonds/stocks/etc. a decent yearly return would be 7%, which significantly increases his net when all is said and done

Matt Glynne I did get to that part, but what I was really asking is how he got to that number over the 56,000 as stated in the reddit post that he was using to calculate. Thank you for the reply though, I was getting impatient when I wrote the comment.
Missy Quill I had also kind of assumed that as well. I’ve always thought it’d be a 7 or 8 figure number given that Ted “didn’t bother you with the number”.
Barney explains that he and ted put in the "Escape from bitch mountain" system and there's a clip of them testing it with a dressed dummy. You also didn't factor in barney was a degenerate gambler for many years and was quoted to having big losses in the Chinese gambling game. The suit was also at a discounted price for Marshall. There so much more you could have looked at saying that each suit cost 12k because marshalls was 4k at a discounted price we could go to the episode where he has two rooms of suits count the suits in one room double it and then that could give you an idea on how much he spent and also before that he gives away racks and racks of suits to the church it is implied he returns the diamond rhinestone suit but I don't think you could return it and Ted says "You could retire on the pants alone" that's open for interpretation but I guess you could figure out how many diamonds were on there and of what caliber and work out the cost of the suit. Id go on but at that point im being tedious good video I enjoyed it.
$5,111,485.59 is barely well-off in today’s standards. I think you have to have over 25 million to even be considered rich and that’s barely rich. You might be able to afford to own and keep up an airplane if you buy a secondhand one. If you’re out to buy a home your best bet would be to buy the cheapest one and a good neighborhood and then have someone like the property brothers come in and redo the house and make it more up to date and improves the quality of the building. If you could find a neighborhood that was being re-gentrified there are often some great old mansions that can be bought for very low price it is possible to strip to the bones make any repairs that need to be done so that the house could continue to stand for wanted 100 or 200 more years improving the insulation, plumbing, and electrical wiring while saving features that made the house great when it was first built.
I think you calculated wrong. When Marshall buys the suit, the suit is discounted by 1/3 or so. So Barney said: "Well it must´ve been 12.000 $ then." That in mind and the comment, that he doesnt really know how much his suits cost and it doesnt really bother him that these are 12 grands. He probably gets more (way) more then you estimated.
Barney is worth less than that, in the episode Atlantic City (Season 2 Episode 8), Barney mentions that he loss all his life savings playing Xing Hai Shi Bu Xing due to his gambling problem. Here's a clip: ruclips.net/video/P8sWhXETt4Q/видео.html

Do either Mike Ross, Harvey Spector, Luis Litt, Jessica Pearson or Robert Zane next please.
You got to figure in that Barney is an author could have worte a book about the FBI informant, and the BROCODE is a real book!
I have seen a tv larger than 370 inch. It was at a swimming pool and it was almost the entire back wall
He probably gets more (way) more then you estimated.
impressive sociopaths don't usually land a good paying job they usually get bored and quit to find something else to do.
This channel deserves more than 13k subs
I’m guessing Chandler Bings department of statistics analysis and data reconfiguration department was shut down during the FBI raid.
Actually 4000$ is 1/3rd of the actual price of the suit
That's irrelevant because all the matters is how much he personally spends on suits
Barney is worth less than that, in the episode Atlantic City (Season 2 Episode 8), Barney mentions that he loss all his life savings playing Xing Hai Shi Bu Xing due to his gambling problem. Here's a clip: ruclips.net/video/P8sWhXETt4Q/видео.html
in the episode where marshall buys a suit, wasnt that a 1/3 of the normal cost of barney's suits?
What about when Barney Bought a diamond encrusted suit that much have been worth a couple million dollars
Isn’t Marshall’s suit 12000$? Just got discounted
You forgot the goldmine that was "The Brobib". And his gambling, god knows what goes on there.
