Thank you so much for making this video and showing how easy wheelchair embarkation/disembarkation is! My husband is disabled. He can walk just fine with or without a cane, but it's slow going. We use the wheelchair for speed and efficiency. We will be there in September (2023). I feel much better about tendering now!
Hello- I just was wondering how did it go? We are sailing in July 2024 and wondering how steep the ramps are? Our loved one does not walk nor can she transfer without assistance. Any helpful advice?
@@lynda-jeanrichardson1870 Hi! Unfortunately, due to hyperextending a knee two weeks before the cruise, he didn't want to try to do the tender, saving his knee and energy for Cozumel the next day. However, my mom and I did go, and we watched a few other people be helped on & off. It was actually really smooth! The water was fairly calm, so that helped. The ramp from ship to tender wasn't steep at all, almost flat. The ramp from the tender to the peer was moderately steep. Going backwards down the ramp with a wheelchair is key. The ramp from the pier to the ship in ports where the ship can dock is ok until the very end. The end piece, which is hinged so it flexes if need be for any swells. Again, going down backwards will help. The crew also will help from ship to tender or ship to pier. I think I remember the tender crew helping where needed with getting on & off the tender at the dock. Hope that helps!
Great video! Thanks for sharing. We have been a few times, but bringing Granny on the Vista and she has rollator. She was planing to stay on the ship and we want her to join us.
wow if you were waiting for me i would swim to shore ha ha ha i have been to the cayman islands when 4 big ships were in the harbor i was saying to myself there is no way they have enough tenders to get everyone on shore fast . I was wrong it went very fast and very smooth richard in the tropics
